We have revised our Watchlist player rankings for midfielders and forwards following Gameweek 6 and the latest midweek action.

There was an update for our goalkeepers and defenders sections earlier this week.

The Watchlist can be found in your sidebar on a desktop, or via your slide-in menu on mobile or tablet. It acts as a collection of our current thoughts on player selection for each position, also citing the factors that affect their ranking on the list.

As a general rule, we try to commit to just one player per position per club. However, in some cases we where we believe double-coverage is advisable, two players will be listed instead.

Midfielders

Our top three midfield options remain unchanged going into Gameweek 7. Eden Hazard (£11.0m) still tops the pile despite his blank against West Ham. Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) and Sadio Mané (10.0m) keep their places in second and third.

All three of those options no longer have fixture-related factors. That’s because Chelsea and Liverpool both have two difficult and two appealing fixtures in the next four Gameweeks.

There is a minor change in fourth, fifth and sixth as Richarlison (£6.6m) moves above Ryan Fraser (£5.9m) and David Silva (£8.6m) switch places. We believe that all three players stand to do well in Gameweek 7, as they face Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brighton at home respectively, but favour goes slightly towards the Everton man. That’s because Richarlison is more likely to start than Silva, following his no-show in Gameweek 6, and is more explosive than Fraser.

However, even though he blanked in Gameweek 6, Fraser had more shots than any other player on the pitch in Bournemouth’s defeat to Burnley. The fixtures still favour Fraser with Crystal Palace, Watford, Southampton and Fulham to come in the next four Gameweeks.

Below that there are no changes to the order of the Watchlist apart from the introduction of Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m). The Brighton man has registered a goal and three assists in the opening six Gameweeks and is about to embark on a favourable set of fixtures. After the Gameweek 7 trip to Manchester City, the Seagulls don’t face another meeting with one of last season’s top-six until Gameweek 17.

Meanwhile, an injury to Pedro (£6.7m) and two tough fixtures in the next four means that the Chelsea man comes off the list. It is currently hard to justify doubling-up on the Blues’ midfield.

Forwards

Nothing has occurred in the last week to suggest Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) should drop down from the top of the Watchlist. The Manchester City striker played no part in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Oxford United in the League Cup while Gabriel Jesus was present for the full 90 minutes.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£7.0m) stays in second-place based on the fact that only Aguero has had more shots than him so far this season. Fulham’s fixtures remain favourable, especially for someone in this kind of form.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.5m) has finally taken the place of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m). The Frenchman has outscored his Gabonese colleague over the first six Gameweeks despite playing fewer minutes. Now that his place in the team is completely assured and he is still £1.3m cheaper than Aubameyang, he has to go onto the Watchlist. Arsenal’s fixtures are still very attractive.

Harry Kane (£12.4m) swaps places with Callum Wilson (£6.3m) ahead of Gameweek 7. The Tottenham man made a return to underlying statistics we have become used to in a Gameweek 6 win at Brighton, while his next two opponents look like easy prey. Meanwhile, Wilson drops down as a result of his poor performance at Burnley and the fact that Fraser can offer better value.

Romelu Lukaku (£11.1m) and Raúl Jiménez (£5.5m) remain unchanged between Kane and Wilson.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) comes into the frame having scored and assisted in Gameweek 6. Leicester have some nice fixtures over the next six Gameweeks and the forward could prove a powerful differential. His inclusion pushes Marko Arnautovic (£6.9m) off the list after injury has ruled him out of the last two West Ham matches.

    Was kinda set on...
    Salah > Richarlison
    Moura > Maddison
    Wilson > Kane
(GW 7&8 and then bring LIV assets back)

Now thinking of using my 2FT for this and not taking added hit...
    Moura > Richarlison/Maddison
    Guendouzi > Gündogàn

    Help/thoughts/advice greatly appreciated

I was thinking about Walcott, Moura -> Rich, Maddi, but will probably just do the Everton trade given Eriksen injury and the fact that Lamela played 90 minutes

Have a horrible feeling Moura will be benched for most of the game and only get a sniff once Kane/Alli already done the damage. OR is a personal best ever and don’t really want to drop the points. Here’s going press conferences will shed some light hey!

I do too. More I think about it more I'm seeing Lemela, Son and Alli start.

Poch probably wanted to give Lamela 90 mins to get him match fit

Considering DSilva is a major rotation risk this week, I want to get my first sub right.

Who to have as first sub?

    A) Yedlin (Leicester at home) - note I also own and I am playing Maddison
    B) AWB (Bournemouth away)

Bottomed, down in last page with typical 0 answers. I usually answer to over ten or twenty questions for one I make, but almost never get answers for my own questions 🙁 I just wonder what is the reason for this. Karma not working properly?!?

Captain Kane gw8?!? I have atm exact money to do Mané to Richarlison and Wilson to Kane. All chips unused. Yet I also own Dilva. I have following possibilities:

    A) Mané to Richarlison -4 now, Wilson to Kane next
    B) Mane and Wilson > Richarlison, Kane -4 next week
    C) Mane and Wilson > Richarlison, Kane -8 this week
    D) Captain Haz vs So'ton gw9 no Kane, no hits

    What would you do atm?

I’d do A. If you’re going to get Richarlison, then this week is the big draw.

Think Wilson could easily match Kane this week, so no need for the -8 I think.

I like Kane(c) much more than Hazard(c) in GW8. I’ll almost certainly be going that way myself.

Thanks. Perhaps Richarlison this week is better option than Mané whose minutes may be managed, so better take the hit now and see it at least as a 2 week punt.

I think he is indeed a better option this week. I’ll almost certainly be making the Mane to Richarlison move close to the deadline. Good luck (to both of us)!

Okay it's obvious people here are all making the same moves. If you too want to sell a Liverpool player and a budget forward to get Richarlison and Kane, go ahead.

Yet I believe it will still be minority here. Salah not dropping that fast.

Seems a little harsh - who else is there to captain in GW8? Flocking to Kane for the captaincy that week is a pretty inevitable outcome of the fixtures. There’s also more than one way to do it - I’ll likely be doing a Kane-Aguero hokey-cokey rather than a budget striker upgrade.

      I like A

    Who would you start:

    A. Schurrle
(more shots than any other midfielder bar Salah; up against a poor Everton defence)

    Or

    B. Maddison
(big part of the Leicester attack and on set-pieces; up against a reasonable Newcastle defence, although one that’s not great at defending set-pieces).

A feels more exciting, but I imagine the sensible choice is B.

    What do you think?

I’ll be playing Mitrovic and Vardy regardless.

Thanks - I’m inclined to agree. I relish the opportunity of a haul from a player with really low ownership, but A does seem a little less likely to pay off.

If mendy was confirmed out for a few weeks then sané would be a great replacement for Mané but with his injury status unknown I'm not sure it's worth the risk?

If I didnt have anything better to use a FT on, Id remove Mendy. Seems like he could be an unknown factor for a long time... even if he isnt really injured.

Sane is definitely pure gold in short term, and that's it. 2-3 GWs tops.

2-3 game weeks and Mané fixtures improve so maybe a switch back to him would be possible.

I'm looking at getting Sane this week for hit to replace Mendy & Neves but its a toss up if he will outscore Richarlison who I can bring in for free replacement of Neves. Sane got 3 assists in their last game against Brighton (3-0) and I have a feeling he might haul.

Not at all. Aguero is enough.

Whoever owns these players will have to go through a blank or a no show either the next week or the week after, so it will even out.

Nah, my other players will have decent fixtures as well, so not a big deal...

How is this WC shaping up?

    Hennessey
    Trippier Robertson AWB Alonso
    Mane Richarlison Maddison Hazard
    Lacazette Aguero

    Hart Joselu Hojbjerg Doherty

I would get TAA over Robertson. Mitro for Laca and salah for Mane. With extra 0.5 can you get Jiminez for Joselu

B slightly, because long term you're going to want Mendy
