We have revised our Watchlist player rankings for midfielders and forwards following Gameweek 6 and the latest midweek action.

There was an update for our goalkeepers and defenders sections earlier this week.

The Watchlist can be found in your sidebar on a desktop, or via your slide-in menu on mobile or tablet. It acts as a collection of our current thoughts on player selection for each position, also citing the factors that affect their ranking on the list.

As a general rule, we try to commit to just one player per position per club. However, in some cases we where we believe double-coverage is advisable, two players will be listed instead.

Midfielders

Our top three midfield options remain unchanged going into Gameweek 7. Eden Hazard (£11.0m) still tops the pile despite his blank against West Ham. Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) and Sadio Mané (10.0m) keep their places in second and third.

All three of those options no longer have fixture-related factors. That’s because Chelsea and Liverpool both have two difficult and two appealing fixtures in the next four Gameweeks.

There is a minor change in fourth, fifth and sixth as Richarlison (£6.6m) moves above Ryan Fraser (£5.9m) and David Silva (£8.6m) switch places. We believe that all three players stand to do well in Gameweek 7, as they face Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brighton at home respectively, but favour goes slightly towards the Everton man. That’s because Richarlison is more likely to start than Silva, following his no-show in Gameweek 6, and is more explosive than Fraser.

However, even though he blanked in Gameweek 6, Fraser had more shots than any other player on the pitch in Bournemouth’s defeat to Burnley. The fixtures still favour Fraser with Crystal Palace, Watford, Southampton and Fulham to come in the next four Gameweeks.

Below that there are no changes to the order of the Watchlist apart from the introduction of Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m). The Brighton man has registered a goal and three assists in the opening six Gameweeks and is about to embark on a favourable set of fixtures. After the Gameweek 7 trip to Manchester City, the Seagulls don’t face another meeting with one of last season’s top-six until Gameweek 17.

Meanwhile, an injury to Pedro (£6.7m) and two tough fixtures in the next four means that the Chelsea man comes off the list. It is currently hard to justify doubling-up on the Blues’ midfield.

Forwards

Nothing has occurred in the last week to suggest Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) should drop down from the top of the Watchlist. The Manchester City striker played no part in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Oxford United in the League Cup while Gabriel Jesus was present for the full 90 minutes.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£7.0m) stays in second-place based on the fact that only Aguero has had more shots than him so far this season. Fulham’s fixtures remain favourable, especially for someone in this kind of form.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.5m) has finally taken the place of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m). The Frenchman has outscored his Gabonese colleague over the first six Gameweeks despite playing fewer minutes. Now that his place in the team is completely assured and he is still £1.3m cheaper than Aubameyang, he has to go onto the Watchlist. Arsenal’s fixtures are still very attractive.

Harry Kane (£12.4m) swaps places with Callum Wilson (£6.3m) ahead of Gameweek 7. The Tottenham man made a return to underlying statistics we have become used to in a Gameweek 6 win at Brighton, while his next two opponents look like easy prey. Meanwhile, Wilson drops down as a result of his poor performance at Burnley and the fact that Fraser can offer better value.

Romelu Lukaku (£11.1m) and Raúl Jiménez (£5.5m) remain unchanged between Kane and Wilson.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) comes into the frame having scored and assisted in Gameweek 6. Leicester have some nice fixtures over the next six Gameweeks and the forward could prove a powerful differential. His inclusion pushes Marko Arnautovic (£6.9m) off the list after injury has ruled him out of the last two West Ham matches.

    Hey all,

Episode 2 of my pod (FPL Blackbox thinking) is up in case anyone was interested.
Happy for all feedback - good or nasty as long as it's constructive! Still in the early stages with these so keen to improve.

Ok, so straight off the bat, if you're gonna call it black box then you need to really jump into the rabbit hole, for real. Like no recaps or general thinking or powerpoint episodes, nobody cares about other peoples mistakes, we're all just looking forward to the next gameweek. No, but really go meta. Adapt some weird clickbait marketing, remember that 95% of people who'll listen to your black box are already on FFS tape-reading these comments 24/7. Most of us have a good understanding of whats going on, your job is to open up our eyes to stuff he haven't even though about, thats what black box thinking should be about, so you're gonna have to really set yourself apart with some jesuitic esoteric type sh*t. My two cents 🙂

BLACK BOX WITH AZ - EPISODE TWO
RANK ROCKEY, FEW SEATS LEFT: WHY YOU SHOULD CAPTAN RI(C)HALI AND NOT AGUERO THIS GAMEWEEK!

ALSO! WHY YOU SHOULD SIT YOUR A*S ON THE KANE TRAIN FOR THREE AMAZING STOPS! *Tuffff Tuffff*!

VARDY OR MADDISON FOR THE FIX TRIP? Well...Looks like Jamie Vardys having a party, bring your vodka and your charlie!

with more to come! ALSO..STEP RIGHT UP: MYSTERY TRANSFER for this weeks episode...do not miss!

No 🙂 Im just having fun and I like Az. I watch every Scoutcast episode. Just think he is a clever player and could branch out on his own if he really went meta on his talks instead of just repeating what we all already know. Its all constructive feedback tongue in cheek. Keep going, i might still listen!

Hi Az, just out of curiosity: do you see an issue with you all having individual podcast that will (hopefully for you) compete with the scoutcast at some point?
I know you guys joked with Andy about him “saving his gems” for his own show, but it seems a little bit weird to me if I am completely honest.
At some point you guys will (Andy already has) have personal and financial interests in people tuning into your own pods/shows. How will that affect how you go about your role in the SC?

That being said, I think you are great on the SC and I will definitely give it a listen. Any chance you will get them out as podcasts at some point?

I’ve got both too. For me, it’s got to be TAA. Bournemouth are pretty free-scoring (when they’re not losing 4-0 to Burnley) and an attacking return from AWB seems unlikely.

I was planning to get Kane in this week but have noticed Eriksen is injured so I’m concerned his chances will be reduced. Anyone else worried by this or are the fixtures to good to ignore?

Because of the Liverpool / Chelsea game i'm finding myself benching my premium defenders and Forwarder but it just does not feel right to bench Alonso, Robertson and Firmino, leaving so much money there.

I ended up playing a 3-5-2 formation because of this consisting of the below starting 11:

    Ederson
    Holebas, Doherty, Wan-Bissaka
    Moura, Fraser, Salah, Neves, Richarlison
    Aguero, Mitrovic

Should Alonso, Robertson and Firmino replace any of the above? I'm so afraid that the game will end up a low scoring game with both sides conceding and none of the usual suspects involved in the goals. I can easily see a 1-1

Playing Robbo and benching Alonso, I think he will play deeper to counter the Liverpool front 3

Thanks guys, and I know it does not make sense but I was seeing the history between them last year and always a very low scoring game, Firmino never involved in goals and Salah scored only once in their past 3 encounters.
I will play Firmino and Robo I guess but doubts surely about Alonso.

Alonso has multiple attacking returns to AWB 1. Clean sheet won’t be easy against Bournemouth imo I’d just play Alonso in case

Doherty might be good for a clean sheet but the rest of your defenders are all pretty likely to concede, at least Alonso gives you the chance of banging one in from a free kick.

    WC plan:

gw 7: Salah, Arnie > Fraser, Kane
gw 8: Kane (c), use transfer to fix whatever broke midweek
gw 9: WC to bring back Salah and fix whatever broke during the IB

Guys, I have Lucas, Dilva and Maddison.

I see that many of you are optimistic about Lucas and Dilva gametime this weekend. However I am very willing to bring Richarlison in.

You think I should do Maddison out and Richarlison in?

    Thanks

      I would be at:
      Patricio
      Alonso, Robertson, Trippier
      Mane, Hazard, Lucas, Richarlison, Dilva
      Kun, Wilson

      Hamer, Bissaka, Holebas, Kamara

most will say Doherty, and I'd probably pick him now as well, but I have Jonny and don't think there's much between them. Doherty better chance of attacking returns, Jonny chance of bonus without them.
