The Fantasy Football Scout community have been hard at work again over the last seven days, producing the usual superb array of articles and tables as they reflected on Gameweek 7 and looked ahead to Gameweek 8.

Big-money Fantasy Premier League assets were the focus of much discussion, while Marcos Alonso and Wolves also faced scrutiny.

Our latest Community Round-up feature also looks over the various tournaments and mini-leagues that involve FFS users – including a new leader in our public FPL league who is on top of the world.

The Hottest Topics

Heavy hitters were the trending Fantasy assets at the beginning of the week, as we got the ball rolling by asking: what to do with Mohamed Salah?

Jose is Legend then kicked off a debate over which premium option is dispensable before Jealous Viper examined Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane head to head.

Kane was also the centre of discussion regarding Spurs’ injury problems and whether the absence of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen in particular colours your judgement of the England striker.

Stoichkov#8 was also mulling over the pros and cons of Kane and his fellow big-money FPL players.

There were two members-only hot topics, meanwhile. Eden Wizard looked at whether Marcos Alonso has become less attacking of late, while Shake n Bake asked if Wolves are this year’s Burnley.

Collie01 analysed the medium-to-long-term fixtures and came up with some observations, while Liverpool’s run of matches after the international break was the focus of wasp3000‘s hot topic.

With attention back on Gameweek 8, we speculated on the breakout FPL players of this weekend before the ever-helpful G-Whizz rounded up the Doosra Stats, clean sheet probabilities and fixture odds.

Tamagotchi Massacre wanted to hear your general FPL advice tips, while Wolves Ay We demanded to know why you – yes, you – haven’t linked your FPL team to your profile page.

Community Articles

Two to bring you this week, both of them regular features:

Community Tables

Here is just a small selection of the excellent array of public tables created this week and available in the Members’ area:

Remember, to see your table featured here (if that’s what you want!) please ensure you include a description explaining the purpose of it.

Community Tournaments

A new entry, world number one Brayden McCullough no less, is the new leader in our public FFS League. This is Brayden’s first season and he has now top of the overall rankings for three Gameweeks. He got there after Triple Captaining Aguero in Gameweek 2, playing his Wildcard in Gameweek 4 and captaining Hazard for a score of 118 in Gameweek 5.

Another new entry, Alex Brash, is the new leader in our FFS Members League, but previous leader Andrew McKinnon is level with him on points. Alex is in his eighth season and is 33rd overall. He has not yet played any chips.

RedLightning still leads the FFS Mods & Cons mini-league.

Ashley Humphrey (Ashers74) is still top of RedLightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league and is now up to 25th overall.

    Fabianski
    Alonso - Mendy - Doherty
    Salah - Hazard - Richarlison - Fraser
    Aguero(c) - Mitrovic - King

Alonso looks to be more defensive recently - I think Sarri has told him to be more like Azpi. Ederson is ample City defence IMO.

Anybody think Mendy and trippier are likely to outscore similar priced forwards like Wilson and mitrovich. I'm thinking of going 442 with robbo Alonso and those 2 at the back and only aguero arnie up top

The question also needs to incorporate cheaper defensive alternatives IMO. Why won't Doherty, TAA and Laporte keep pace with those expensive alternatives?

      1. XabiAlonso

Some of them probably will keep up but those 4 look prime for assists and clean sheets.
I'm actually quite keen on lascelles in saying that as from next week, Newcastle have great fixtures and not too bad at the back.

Have arnie already. Both him and mitro are 0.8 more than Mendy and trippier so trying to get value aswell as fitting in haz Salah and aguero

Mitro is a beast. Focal point in fulham offensive style and can score from nothing. Can easily score 20+ goals for 6.5 is a snip. Going nowhere from my team unless big injury.

That is what vice captains are for tbf...

Then again his vc is Maddison, who I wouldn't trust too much! I understand benching Aguero on some level after Pep's "small injury" comments, and 90 vs Hoffenheim, but not playing Walker over him...

As a fellow Trippier capper, I hope he's not entirely off with his predictions however 😀

      Thanks, Sir Edo.
They're risks that might or might not come off, but I like to make my own decisions rather than always following the crowd. Sometimes they succeed and sometimes they don't.
For example, I started the season with four elite defenders before having three elite defenders became the standard choice, resulting in a couple of centuries and an OR of 198 after two game-weeks.

Kane may well be the highest scoring captain this game-week, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Trippier matches or even outscores him.
He has already had three 11-pointers this season, and another clean sheet plus assist plus bonus points could produce another.

I could have brought in Kane instead of Trippier this game-week, but then I would have had to use another transfer to restore Aguero in GW9 after losing value on him, and also take a hit or wait till GW10 before spending the funds released by this hokey-cokey.

Aguero doesn't have a great away record, especially against Liverpool, had a tough match in mid-week and his minutes may be limited.
Meanwhile, having 12 strong outfield players gives me many options of rotating them according to form and fixtures.
It has been suggested that I ought to have benched Walker instead, but Liverpool and City both have strong defences so it could be a low-scoring game, but if it isn't then he may still get attacking returns. So it is not as obvious as you might think that Walker won't outscore Kun.

However, as you say, time will tell whether this results in a red arrow or a green one.

My maverick decisions worked pretty well this time!

7 clean sheets (if you count captain Trippier twice), including Robertson and Walker, and Aguero blanked. 🙂

But not quite perfect - wrong captain (Trippier instead of Hazard) wrong Wolves defender (Boly instead of Doherty) and benched Fraser. ;-(

Not having Kane is a big worry especially with the top 10k getting him in.
