Brighton and Hove Albion’s budget defensive options could attract some long-term Fantasy Premier League attention very soon.

The Seagulls recently recorded their first clean sheet of 2018/19 in Gameweek 8, which was well-timed with them ascending to second place for defence on our Season Ticker over the next 13 matches.

We’ve decided to look into the numbers to see if Chris Hughton’s men can be trusted with what, on the surface, looks like an extended run of favourable fixtures.

So without knowing the facts, this salah injury could turn out to be one of those convenient international things.

Salah plays the first game and shows committment to Egypt. Injury comes along (possibly pre arranged between lpool and egypt) and salah gets a nice week of rest ...

    Anyone else think that??

This is the Top 10k template team (based on ownership)

    Patricio - Hamer
    Robertson - Trippier - Doherty - Bennett - AWB
    Hazard - Mane - Richarlison - Maddison - Fraser
    Aguero - Mitrovic - Wilson

What do you think is the transfer this week? I reckon Trippier to Mendy is on the cards

Depends if the transfers are wildcard ones or not.

I may be wrong but I think FPLstats tries to adjust during heavy wildcard usage.

So if your target is someone being transferred in by non-wildcarders then you might get caught out. Especially true of cheaper players such as Doherty, Jonny, Etc. As these guys are simple like for like transfers.

Someone like Laca isn’t so easy and I’d presume it’s more wildcarders and therefore even if he hit the 100% then I’m not sure he’d even rise, like Wilson during the week:

Yedlin is much more likely to be involved in the goals. His stats are better and plays further forward. Better player in real life doesn't always mean more points.

57.1% of Newcastle United‘s chances this season have been created from the right flank, meaning that the Magpies are the most lopsided top-flight club when it comes to reliance on opportunities carved out from one particular area of the pitch. The Magpies top our Season Ticker between now and Gameweek 18, so DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m) might possibly be picking up the odd assist if that trend continues.

Fixtures look great so I’m looking to bring in one of their defenders to replace Shaw.
Just not really watched them play this season, so going off stats alone, which isn’t my preferred method.

Really really boring question so apologies in advance...but I'm going to ask it anyway 🙂 im considering a dirt cheap 5th mid as an enabler and been considering the Ltd options in the 4.4/4.5 bracket and it still appears Billing is leading the pack using the stats comparison tool. I had an eye on Gunarrsson if he ever returns but not sure he'd be a better punt, considered Obiang too. Any strong views on who is the best option ? Shame Ward lost his spot, not often we get an OOP option for that price.

      In no particular order:

      Hojbjerg
      Mendy
      Westwood
      Masuaku/Obiang

    Lost on previous page

1.6 iTB and one free transfer

    Patricio
    Alonso Doherty, Trippier
    Richarlison, hazard, Salah, Maddison
    Mitro, Aguero, Wilson

    Hamer, Bennett, hojberg, AWB

    Options are

    A) upgrade Bennett to TTA but this would give me a benching headache ( I know first world problems). I would probably would want to play four defenders and this would benching Wilson

    B) swap hamer to fabs ( rotates well with Patricio)

For those of ye that will be watching the Ireland vs Denmark game tonight i would like to point out that the game is being dedicated to the memory of Georgie O'Callaghan and just so that name does not pass over your heads i would like to give ye some background on this great man.

Georgie was a father figure of the sport of soccer as we like to call it here in Kerry and in part of the world that the game was not always as popular as it is now he was one of the men that established the game in this part of the world through his selfless dedication to the sport.

When he passed away the president of the Football Association of Ireland John Delaney came back early from a conference in Helsinki attend his funeral which just shows how much he was thought of in the Irish soccer world.

Here is a nice article written about Georgie back in 2007
    https://www.independent.ie/regionals/kerryman/sport/other-sports/georgie-is-still-one-of-the-best-27375029.html

In my own personal tribute to the man i renamed my head to head league in his honor, Georgie O’Callaghan Memorial.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

I appreciate the time it takes to research and publish the members articles (or any for that matter) but saying that the return of a 38 year old rb has suddenly shored up Brighton’s 2nd worst defense in the league based on stats of only the last game is a bit of a stretch. Nonetheless the article had some great stats so thank you

    Alright alright alright,

One problem I've had this season compared to previous seasons is that I haven't had a settled 4th budget midfielder. I've rotated the awkward 11th man between Neves, Bennet and S.Cook (playing Bennett most weeks and doing very well from it..). Feel that may come to and end soon. Any ideas for this team?

    Patricio
    Alonso Robertson WanBissaka Bennett
    Hazard Mane D.Silva
    Lacazette Aguero Mitrovic

    Hamer S.Cook Neves Guendouzi

You may want to look at the upcoming crystal palace fixtures and wolves for that matter. If you had Doherty rather than Bennett it would help matters

Yeah, to be honest I think I’m doing better with him than I would have without. Would have ended up with Aubameyang and gone cheap at the back. Having Salah is what made me go big at the back because I couldn’t afford 4 premium attackers. 18,000 rank and that was with an 11,000 drop last Gameweek so could be worse

A bit off topic but it's really annoying when you add a team to "boost the odds" and it's that team that lets it down! Happens quite often for me.

I've taken a punt on him, stats are decent and he's returned a few times already this season. He's relatively cheap so not a massive amount invested if he does fail to produce. Form often follows fixtures...

Sterling could be a good differential if you have good captaincy options to account for losing Aguero.

I think they are pretty even.

I don't see a better premium forward than Agüero at the moment, and I like having the versatility of making sideways transfers in every price category and position. Agüero is a stable captaincy option at home, and City got 4 out of their next 6 at home, with United at home in GW12 as the only game you wouldn't want to captain Agüero.

      no

lucky points in the beginning of season and Sarri told him to stay further back, will ofcourse give you clean sheets, but to me, Luiz is as good option right now. Watch the game and monitor if Alonso´s positioning is altering again is my advice. If not, 7m is not worth it.

Yes. He’ll be 7.5 next year - If he scored that header from hazards corner in the West Ham game that was another double figure haul. He takes every left footed DFK. One of those rare players that can get goals, assists, CS & baps.
