Gameweek 10 is almost upon us and surely it can’t be as bad as Gameweek 9, right?

The lowest average of the season had many in despair.

The FPL community has been quieter than usual this week as managers lick their wounds.

I managed a score of 42 which was respectable considering some of the horror stories from the weekend.

The Punishers

Going into Gameweek 10, Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) is causing me a headache. He came in on a double move in Gameweek 8, alongside Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m), to replace David Silva (£8.5m) and Callum Wilson (£6.5m). It’s safe to say, those were not my best transfers of the season! Wilson must have known I had sold him as he gave a salute in his goal celebration to rub salt in my wounds.

In hindsight, I should have been more patient with him as he still had three good fixtures and excellent underlying statistics despite going five games without a goal. I was hell-bent on getting Arnie in for the Brighton game which meant sacrificing Silva who also punished me with a nine-pointer in the 5-0 win over Burnley.

Knockaert hasn’t worked out and is now a rotation risk having sat out the Gameweek 9 fixture against Newcastle. He’s likely to be my transfer out this week.

The reason I went cheap with the Silva replacement was so that Andrew Robertson (£6.4m) could come in for Jose Holebas (£4.8m) in Gameweek 9 which worked out well. The Scottish Roberto Carlos was phenomenal again in the Champions League last night.

Salah and the Liverpool defence

Another player who impressed for Liverpool against Red Star Belgrade was the runaway leader in this week’s captaincy poll, Mohamed Salah (£12.8m). A brace, including one from the spot, has his owners feeling confident of a big haul at home to Cardiff this weekend. Non-owners will no doubt be looking at ways to get him.

Hat trick please Mo ©.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.1m) owners are worried after he missed his second game in a row. Dejan Lovren (£4.9m) has come in and posted back-to-back nine-pointers. The Croatian was an unused substitute in the Champions League in midweek which suggests he may start against Cardiff. If so, the big question is – who starts at right back, TAA or Joe Gomez (£5.1m)? If I owned TAA, I’d give him one more week if you have a solid first sub who can come in if he misses out again.

Knockaert replacements

Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m), Andre Schürrle (£6.0m), Kenedy (£4.9m) and Josh Murphy (£4.8m) are battling it out for a place in my Gameweek 10 squad.

Pereyra and Schurrle have four goals each, while Kenedy and Murphy have the favourable fixtures between now and Christmas and are much cheaper. More research is required before I come to a decision but I’m leaning towards going cheap and using the cash saved to improve things next week.

Benjamin Mendy (£6.3m) is top of my ‘Wanted’ list for Gameweek 11. Once he’s back in, the next step will be to figure out which Man City midfielder is worth the investment. A task I’m not looking forward to!

Good luck to all in Gameweek 10.

Since I don't own any Leicester players I think I should play Zabaleta. Any better?

    Ederson
    Alonso, Robertson, Zabaleta
    Hazard, Richarlison, Fraser, Salah
    Aguero, Mitrovic, Arnautovic

    Hamer, Bennett, Wan-Bissaka, McDonald

    1. Pinturicchio10

I would play Bennett in this situation. Don't fancy either for a CS but I reckon there's less chance of Wolves conceding a bunch than West Ham.

Yeah, but shouldn¨t Zabaleta have a better chance for for attacking points?

Possibly. Hasn't exactly been lighting the place up these past few years though.

My Defence is a mess so looking to sort it out over the next two gameweeks.
Really struggling with who to bring in this week..

    My Team is

    Patricio
    Alonso Doherty Cook
    Salah Haz Dilva Rich Mad
    Aguero Arnie
    Stek Bennett AWB Success

Have 1FT and 0.6 ITB so who would be the best option to replace Cook?
Ideally would bring one of the Liverpool Defs in (Gomes, TAA or Loveren) but not sure which one is least likely to be rotated? Also considering Chilwell/Pereira from Leicester. Next week i'm thinking of downgrading Rich or D Silva and changing Bennett for Mendy.

2 FT and 0.6 in the bank

    Pat Fodder

    Alonso Robbo Doherty AWB Chilwell

    Hazard Sterling Siggy Maddy Fodder

    Aguero Arnie Wilson

Now, I would like Salah in there but am 0.5 short for straight swap with either Sterling or Haz.

Initial thoughts were one of Sterling or Haz to Salah (C) then Siggy to cheaper MF (Schurle maybe) but don't really want to lose Siggy as has nice home fixtures coming up so now thinking Sterling and Haz to Salah and Mane for minus 4.

Am I mad or not, that is the question.

If mad then how else to get in Salah. Or maybe just hope Salah blanks over next 3?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't think TAA will play tbh, so I guess there's a good chance both of Rich and Kenedy will end up playing. I'm giving TAA another week at least though as I don't think he'll be dropped indefinitely.

I'd be wary of that move - there's every chance Gomez is rested and it's TAA VVD Lovren Robbo. Gomez has seen a lot of game time himself and is both young and reasonably injury prone. Cardiff might be the time to rest him.

Yeah they do look like a good option and Zab is only 4.3m too. Is he nailed on now?

Any news on Murray’s chances for the weekend?

I have him, Fellini and Hazard all flagged. Could do with two of them playing otherwise it’s AWB coming in. Trying to save my transfer so I have two next week and can do a bit of surgery to get rid of fellaini and Fraser.

Any ideas? how should I use these 2 FT ?

    Patricio/Fabs
    Doherty/Pereira/Robbo/AWB/Bednarek
    Salah/Hazard/B. Silva/Maddison/Hojberg
    Aguero/Mitrovic/King

I’d just use one then look at getting Arnie in for king or Mitro. Bednarek to Duffy is what I’d do this week and roll the other ft

Is Robertson really worth 6.4? 2 assists in 9 games.

Not just the assists though.. clean sheets and serious goal threat at times. I feel big scores are incoming

Worth to get rid of Richarlison to get him? Either that or Lovren with a free transfer

was thinking this myself...but is 2nd highest points scoring defender, and has great fixtures. So I think he is worth it.

    Alonso, Laporte, TAA

    Hazard, Mane, Rich, Jorginho*

    Kun, Wilson, Firmino

    (Hamer, Pereira, Billing AWB)

    *Jorginho > Pereyra / Shcurrle?
