The emotional side of Fantasy Football management cannot be underestimated.

As the Scoutcast’s discussion on mental health shows, many managers can struggle in their everyday life when a bad Gameweek strikes.

This episode features some powerful accounts of the impact being a Fantasy manager can have on the community’s lives, from sleepless nights to depression. Az, Joe and David also reveal how Fantasy Football has affected their emotional wellbeing over the years.

Recorded midway through a season-defining first Double Gameweek of 2018/19, the crew also look back on their decision to shun Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero.

City assets feature again in our community questions section, as the crew assess likely rotation, especially around future Double Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, Chelsea’s new-look attack is also weighed up.

The crew then finish off with a detailed look at their Gameweek 26 transfer moves, captaincy decisions, differential picks and clean sheet prospects.

This Scoutcast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Best midfielder for max 8.0 mil?

Thinking Moutinho / Jota / FAnderson / Maddison

add fraser there and pick one out of five. I would go for Fandy or Maddy

I’d forget Maddison as he’s not tied on to start. Tempted by Fraser as Bournemouth can score against anyone but the smart money has to be on Anderson for fixtures and bkanks.

Jota or Felipe Anderson the better Richarlison replacement?

Leaning towards F.Anderson as i already have Jimenez and Doherty and Wolves are likely to blank in GW31

Anderson. Good fixtures apart from City in GW28, good player, good involvement.

So I'm guessing most people will choose Fandy over Maddison for the upcoming fixtures, but I have a feeling that he won't come anywhere near his performance vs. liverpool. that being said, if arnie is out for a while again, fandy can again have a more free role, right? What are your thoughts?

Arnie wasn't playing for most of fandersons recent dry patch, so not sure how Arnie still being out would help. I think Madison is a better shout for now

    Patricio
    Robbo - Trippier - TAA**
    Salah (C) - Sane - Hazard - Rich - Deulofeu
    Rash - Jimenez

    Fabs - AWB - Ings** - Digne

    2FT, .5 ITB

    A) Hazard + Ings > Auba + 5.7 midfielder
    B) Hazard + Ings > Kun + 5.5 midfielder
    C) Hazard + Ings > Laca + 7.6 midfielder (Bilva/Anderson/Groß?)

B Silva, after Pep said 'almost ompossible to drop him' just be typical Pep.

Seriously though, having Sane as only City player not sure it can be funny, damage is already done! I half expect Sane to be benched now, just looking forward to tomorrow so we can put this week behind us 🙂

    Cheeky repost...

    Guaita
    Robbo Doherty Digne
    Salah Sane Richarlison Pogba
    Auba Jimenez Rashford
Bench: Button - TAA - AWB - Camarasa

    Better move this week...
    A) Sane to Son
    B) Digne and Richarlison to Son and 4.4 def (will pick one playing blanks like BOU/NEW defender).

Nope, just plain old. Salah(c) fail to thank for that. Maybe an assist only for Sane, given he’s heavily captained. Assisting Fernandinho for a 1-0 win

      Ben Crellin on twitter.
Bournemouth, West Ham and Newcastle look ripe for investment in the cheap and mid price slots if that helps. I'm looking at Boruc, Anderson, Rice, Lejeune to replace the cheaper parts of my squad until a clearer picture emerges.

I think it's too early to plan for 31. We don't even know who will or won't play so trying to plan without that knowledge is honestly a waste of time. Lots can happen between now and then. Plan 2 or 3 weeks at a time and deal with the blanks and DGWs as they come.

Hoping to break into the top 2000 with another kun haul. Not too worried if he has a brief cameo, as I have sane and jesus, even though I was disappointed with their gametime against arsenal.

Yeah. I know it's kinda strange but just had a feeling city would haul this gw and I didn't have any pressing transfers. A kind of insurance policy if kun got reduced minutes. It could still work out if kun is rested tonight and I'm already happy with his 51 point haul v arsenal. I don't think everton will be any match for a wounded man city. Sane is the elephant in the room though but I'm happy if he gets a goal, but I don't want him to haul as a large number of the top 10k have him as captain or even TC.
My thinking makes sense to me but probably not to others.
Two of the three city players will go this week.

    Anyone have double Liverpool defence?
Has not worked at all so far with TAA injury being a huge pain. Worth sticking with it?

I'm sticking, dont see any alternatives for now and don't want to waste a transfer on it just when TAA is due to be back. Robbo still is a delightful attacker, its unlucky for him that he didn't made an assist vs whu and lei.

Surely if FPL is affecting your mental health (as it seems Az is now saying) it’s time to stop playing and find something else to do. It’s only a game, and only worth doing if you are enjoying it.

If you *can’t* stop despite it affecting you negatively then you’ve got a problem and maybe need to seek help.

Mate, I've read this word for word so many times.
I get it, there's two ways of looking at it. I'm not a fan of over simplifying it, and you are.
There you go, there's the two sides.

      1. Numb
        • 11 Years

I'm not oversimplifying it, it is that simple

It’s very similar to gambling (but usually without the ability to lose your house). If you’re enjoying gambling without it becoming a problem either to your health or your finances, then great. If not then you need to stop. If you can’t stop then that is a problem.

Yes and it is a problem for some people. Thats the point.
Saying just stop to someone with a massive problem is just silly, like they've never considered it.
You and I will never ever agree on this matter so we may as well put it to bed.

          1. Numb
            • 11 Years

We've never discussed it before, so that's a bit of an OTT comment. I'm sure if I came to your pub and discussed it we could come to some mutual understanding.

I know that its a problem for some people, I accept that, hence my last point.

And if that is the case for Az, then maybe he needs to start taking steps like coming off the podcast, stepping away from social media, etc and see if that helps dial it down

Sorry, guess its just been so over discussed I'm done with it.
I say we're never going to agree basically as your view point is opposite to mine so they are never going to gradually meet in the middle.
Plus I've had so much of this in my life, begging people to stop something, they promise they will, and then you find them dead in their own bed.
And people just say, oh stop, its obviously a problem. Sometimes its just too late.

I don't agree with the "stop" mentality as I think you're making it into something it isn't. Clearly AZ has admitted he has been suffering from a level of depression. Not that it was purely FPL making him depressed.

Though it is clearly going to be a factor. When things aren't going great in someone's mind-set, then the smallest of things can be magnified. Poor score after poor score, from someone who is clearly an exceptional FPL player, who puts hours on end into this website, his own team, advising others etc, it's going to add a negative effect.

Though I actually agree with you that AZ "could" take a step back. I think it could be a healthy option. By having a week, or a month off the social side of FPL. Pick his team on a Friday and leave it...

Well yeah it might not be easy to quit but that might well be the best solution if it's really affecting your life that much. As I posted yday I did the same thing to a game I was addicted to - went cold turkey as part of a 1 month NY resolution and was able to quit for good after that.

You do need something to replace that addiction though otherwise you'll just go straight back to it.

Lots of options floating around in my head and can't decide. Already used one transfer to bring in Son for Hazard. 1 more FT.

    A) Rich > Mane, Kun > Aub (4 point hit)
    B) Kun > Aub next week Rich > Anderson
    C) Rich > Mane next week Kun > Aub

Basically boiling down to Anderson or Mane with a hit. Already own Salah and going for Mane allows me an easy route back to Hazard w/o dropping Salah (although I could drop Salah if I had Mane maybe)
