It’s a case of ‘as you were’ for Blank Gameweeks 31 and 33 after Brighton and Hove Albion saw off West Bromwich Albion in their FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday evening.

A defeat for the Seagulls would have seen the number of confirmed Premier League fixtures in each of those two Gameweeks rise to five, with Brighton scheduled to take on Cardiff City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

We can still have anything from one to six blanks in Gameweek 31 and one to four in Gameweek 33.

Chris Hughton’s side now entertain Derby County in the fifth round of the FA Cup a week on Saturday.

We’ll round up the Fantasy talking points from Brighton’s extra-time victory over the Baggies.

West Bromwich Albion 1-3 Brighton and Hove Albion

  • Goals: Florin Andone (£5.0m), Glenn Murray (£6.3m) x2
  • Assists: Jurgen Locadia (£5.3m), Davy Propper (£4.8m)

Glenn Murray (£6.3m) came off the bench in extra time to seal a hard-earned victory for Brighton at the Hawthorns.

The veteran striker bundled home a deflected Jurgen Locadia (£5.3m) cross just three minutes after his introduction and later finished tidily from a Davy Propper (£4.8m) pass to put the tie beyond doubt.

The 35-year-old forward looks fairly assured of a start against Burnley in Gameweek 26 given that he only played a cameo role in the Black Country last night and understudy Florin Andone (£5.0m) lasted the full 120 minutes.

Having shared game-time with the Romanian striker over the festive season, Murray has now started the last five Premier League matches on the spin and his medium-term security could be further boosted if the Football Association take any action on Andone for an alleged elbow on the Baggies’ Sam Field.

Andone later pulled Brighton level after a mix-up in the West Brom defence.

Murray said of his own form:

I feel good at the moment, over the Christmas period I had a few little knocks and a bit of an illness but that’s all behind me now.

I feel back to my best and scoring goals helps, we’ve got good competition in the squad at the moment and we have a few faces who are returning from injuries and time away.

We felt as though we dominated the game on Saturday and again on Wednesday – we feel like we’ve put on a good display.

We’ve had some difficult fixtures over the last month and we feel like our performances levels have been consistently good overall.

Hughton praised his evergreen striker but added that he desired to see more of his players contributing on the goal front:

Not only the goal, but it was the attitude Glenn showed. He came on and wanted to make an impact, and that’s what happens when you bring substitutes on, you want them to impact the game.

He certainly came on with a spring in his step and we’re grateful for that.

What we need is to be spreading these goals around the team a little more, but if you said to me ‘would you rather have somebody in form that’s scoring goals than support from elsewhere?’, then, of course, I would say, ‘yes’.

Murray would ordinarily re-enter the budget forward debate given the Seagulls’ superb run of scheduled Premier League fixtures over the next seven Gameweeks but a blank in Gameweek 27 and possibly two more in Gameweeks 31 and 33 will, of course, likely deter Fantasy investment.

Predicting the Brighton line-up at the Amex on Saturday should be a fairly routine operation as this was a second-string Seagulls side that overcame their opponents from the Championship: Hughton made ten changes to the starting XI that drew 0-0 with Watford in Gameweek 25, with just Yves Bissouma (£4.6m) – who himself only featured against the Hornets because of an injury picked up by Dale Stephens (£4.4m) in the warm-up – retaining his place.

Bernardo (£4.2m) made his comeback from injury with a two-hour showing at full-back, with veteran Bruno (£4.4m) also getting a 105-minute run-out.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£6.7m) featured for the first time since injury and international duty in a central midfield role just ahead of Bissouma and Beram Kayal (£4.4m), with Anthony Knockaert (£5.2m) and youngster Viktor Gyokeres (£4.5m) getting the nod on the flanks.

Hughton highlighted the contribution of Knockaert, who hasn’t started a league match since Gameweek 17:

Anthony’s season has been a little bit up and down in regards to playing, but he showed his real quality today – not only the quality he’s got, but he also worked really hard and made an impact.

Deputy centre-backs Leon Balogun (£4.2m) and Dan Burn (£4.5m) had relatively comfortable evenings but won’t have been pleased with their part in West Brom’s opener – Balogun bizarrely letting Kyle Bartley prod home unchallenged after Burn had nodded a Wes Hoolahan free-kick up in the air.

Lewis Dunk (£4.5m) and Pascal Gross (£6.7m) remained unused substitutes, while the likes of Mathew Ryan (£4.4m), Shane Duffy (£4.6m) and Solly March (£4.9m) were handed the night off altogether.

Brighton (4-2-3-1): Button; Bruno (Bong 106’), Balogun, Burns, Bernardo; Bissouma (Propper 88’), Kayal; Gyokeres (Locadia 79’), Jahanbakhsh (Murray 101’), Knockaert; Andone.

I just found out my ML rival has brought Mane in this week. Should I cover this move off by Sterling > Mane for -4 even though I have Salah already? Or back Sterling to perform Vs Chelsea and wait for post Utd for Mane? Current mid:

    Pogba, Son, Salah, Sterling, Jota

Really need some advice on best move here!

Plan for 27, upgrade bench or start selling ManC or Everton players. I'd upgrade Quaner personally, or Diop to Liverpool def.

      good team

hold for now. by 27 we will know more about the blanks.

look to do 2 FT in 27 - remove two of the Man C / Everton contingent.
For me I would remove Rich and possibly Digne as well
You can easily bench Sterling to 27 and he has some good matches up to the blank.

If you have WC you can leave Quaner until then, unless you want to change formation now

Remember that the chip is only worth the extra points. I TCd Sterling but the chips itself is only worth 11 to me.

So there is only 10 between us regarding the chip. At most people might get lucky and get 20-25 more but that’s an easily make-up-able amount.

Hahahaha played my TC on Sane that went so much worse than I ever could have even imagined.
Anyway needless to say he is being sold for sure. Will keep Aguero though I like him.

So are we completing the Auba>Aguero>Auba Hokey Cokey this week or holding off now? I’m wavering I must admit! But Chelsea demolished Hudd so why shouldn’t Arsenal? Then Soton to follow which is pleasant. Prob won’t keep either much longer as Kane is nearing fitness...

The other factor of course is do we think Aguero will start for the third time in a week? I’m loath to remove an in-form player when at home regardless of opponent. Will Jesus get the start, or one more for Aguero and Jesus gets Newport in the cup?

I’m not convinced on Arsenal away either...

Subbed off early both games think he’ll be good for Chelsea. He’s their big game starter pep trusts him in these ones, he gives Jesus the easy ones

I agree. I expect him to start, then rest in the cup. I’m moving towards holding on for a week. Doesn’t sit right to sell a player who’s bang in form and just got you a (c)hatty for one who’s iffy. Obviously next week you can’t lose as he doesn’t play.

No United love with Fulham away? They always seem to conceded?

I've always beens et for Auba, but Salah's at over 50% in the pool, with Auba a distant second. That's one hell of a red arrow if it goes nips up

Not 2 & 5, not sure taking a liverpool player out at this moment is too wise ...... though Bobby's not been ripping up trees, I grant you

Thanks. Thinking of keeping Firmino this week though as you say has not looked good the last two games.

A shocking DGW later has seen me slip from 20 points clear in my ML to 5th, thanks Leroy...

Anyway drastic action was taken in rage last night Firmino, Rich and Sane out for Aub, Son and Milivojevic.
    Team now looks like this:

    Patricio
    Doherty | Shaw | Kolasinac
    Salah | Pog | Son | Mili
    Jimenez | Auba | Rashford
    Fab | TAA | Rose | Fraser

My question to you all is have i made a rash mistake and who starts out of Rose, TAA and Mili?

    Cheers

If You Have Both Mane and Salah its better to get
    A- TAA
    B- Robbo
C- enough Liverpool and get Pereira

Right, I'm sold on Kun to Auba this GW. I'm also considering taking a hit but I'm not sure which one would be best...

    A) Haz > Son
    B) Rich > Felipe

Go for one of these for a -4 or just stick with the one transfer?

    Fabianski.
    Digne, Doherty, Holebas.
    Pogba, Salah, Rich, Son.
    Firmino, Auba, Rashford.
    Hamer, Bednarek, Camarasa, AWB.
    1ft, 1.4m ITB

    1. Rich/Firmino ->Mane/Jimenez (-4).
    2. Rich-> Jota/Felipe/Grob (Which one?)
    3. Digne-> Kolasinac.
    4. Save the FT.

Max Meyer to Palace must go down as one of the weirder transfers the past year. Can’t understand why he isn’t getting way more minutes!

I can only imagine he's got too big for his boots. His attitude and ego was questioned at Schalke and I think he came to Palace believing he was indispensable. No doubts he hasn't put the shifts in during training

I've knocked on 1k's door a few seasons, but never got in. I'm too far off the lead to start having visions of grandeur, but maintaining 1k would be a good result for me. All my chips are intact, so that should be worth a bit.

But now it's squeaky bum time, innit.

Take this week's (C) choice. I was all set for Auba (C) but with Salah at over 50% in the poll, at which point does one want to just 'call it in' and keep it safe versus keep having to take a few risks to maintain rank?

What tips from those with a bit of form in this area for keeping it tidy in the home run ?

Don't give up hope of glory!! I was about 1k OR a few years ago with about 6 weeks left and took loads of gambles. Nearly won the whole thing (finished 2nd)!

Nobody remembers who finishes 2nd (let alone 1,000th)!

Well you do, now I do, and one can only hope that Ben Mee below spares a brain cell for it

My previous close dalliances were cos of "going for it" so I'm kinda in two minds whether to go for it again, or not

I'd be hacked off I finished just outside again

Selecting captain this GW is very tricky. Pogba and Rashford contenders too. Tricky!
