Liverpool to dominate Blank Gameweek 31 captaincy

Liverpool options are expected to dominate the Blank Gameweek 31 captaincy.

The Reds are travelling to face the worst defence in the Premier League when Fulham host them on Sunday afternoon.

That means that Mohamed Salah (£13.4m), Sadio Mané (£9.9m) or maybe even Roberto Firmino (£9.2m) will all compete for the armband.

The Senegalese is the most in-form option but most of his attacking returns have come at Anfield in recent Gameweeks.

The Liverpool defence may also receive some consideration with Andrew Robertson (£6.9m), Virgil van Dijk (£6.6m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.5m) the most-owned.

Chelsea are probably the only side that could realistically challenge the Reds’ stranglehold on the Gameweek 31 captaincy.

After proving the hero for Chelsea against Wolves, Eden Hazard (£10.9m) will almost certainly be the most fashionable skipper among Maurizio Sarri’s men.

They travel to face Everton, which may see Gonzalo Higuaín (£9.6m) also receive some consideration but he has only scored against Huddersfield and Fulham since arriving in England.

Bournemouth could be the provider of some differentials this week as they host Newcastle.

Callum Wilson‘s (£6.4m) return from injury through him back into the mix for Fantasy inclusion, and also boosted the credentials of Ryan Fraser (£6.2m).

    Free Hit - Points to Note:

    1) How to activate - once you select your transfers, this will show up in the screen before confirming the transfers

    2) Transfer before - ANY transfers you make before activating the chip in that GW are cancelled

    3) Transfer after - Next gameweek, you will only have 1FT, regardless of how many you had before activating the chip

    4) Hits - If you took any hits before activating the chip - they are cancelled

    5) Team - You can continue tinkering with your team all throughout the week up to deadline, not just when you click the FH button (i.e. once you pick a team it isn't set in stone)

    6) Team value - At the next deadline your bank balance and squad is restored to as they were at the previous deadline, with any player price changes in the previous gameweek reflected. Any change to your bank balance whilst the Free Hit chip was active will be lost.

      Great attempt, cheers. Flagged as we need a HT for FH FAQs imo.

      To clarify, though, in 2 and 4, the transfers aren't cancelled, they are just added to the FH team instead of the original team. Any new transfers for the FH team you make (e.g. when activating the chip) can still be from those new players to other new players, if you see what I mean.

      If you sell Pogba for Maddison before activating FH, you can't then sell Pogba for someone else when activating the chip because you sold Pogba regardless; there's no wayof getting him back. What's cancelled are the points deductions

      (Sounds a bit nitpicky, but it could be an important distinction for some)

          Only if you have the funds available - if you sell him, and make whatever profit there is to be made, you can only buy him back at his current buying price, not the price you sold him for.

      7) After activating the FH, you can still play the market. Any player who rises by 0.2 before the deadline can be sold for a profit this week. Likewise, price falls will affect the selling price of a player during the FH period. Players still need these prices to be bought and they are not frozen for managers who've activated FH chip.

      However, this will NOT be reflected in your team value the following week, because how would it? Your players will be the same as they were, with the same price paid, and their selling price may have changed, but the players you bought on a FH have nothing to do with this.

      (Can anyone confirm that this is correct, because I am only 87% 100% certain)

I think it was just an assumption at that point, since it seems to be the most common sense answer. I can't see another way it would work tbh, and others may be able to to confirm from experience, but I've forgotten.

        Worth mentioning if you've activated FH and think a FH player's price will drop, it's worth selling before the drop, and buying back at the lower price, if you need the extra 0.1.

        Not permanent - but relevant for that week. Eg. If you are short 0.1m of your ideal FH squad, then best to get a player before his price rise.

        All this is theoretical of course - especially this week when most people's TV can afford all and any players without budget constraints. FH 32 will be a different story though.

          I would be a whopping 9.7m off affording this team. I know I can save money by trimming the bench, but I think it helps illustrate that money is an issue when building your fantasy fantasy team. I think many people will likely miss out on their best team simply because they have already waiting too late, as plenty of players have risen in price already. Best to play the FH asap unless you have not decided on your strategy for sure yet, imo.

            In reply to Wolves Ay We, price changes are "permanent" as always for all players, in that a price change won't boomerang back simply because some players are playing the FH chip.

            However, the question of whether transfers made whilst on a FH is different. I am not certain, but I believe that these transfers do not contribute to a price change. The prices are changing in accordance with people who are buying and selling players when not on a FH. Therefore, it's possible to influence the market by making your transfers for the week and then playing the FH at the last moment (if you remember to press the button 😉 )

              He has been poor! But 10 points playing poor isn’t too bad, he also has a good penalty conversion rate, so if he gets penalty there’s also a high chance he scores it, then he’s a bonus magnet so it all adds up.

    I think I need to free hit. Have only 6 proper starters, plus Westwood. Several of my ML rivals seem to be playing it, as they have even fewer GW31 starters.

    Surely bringing in Mane, Barnes, Wilson/King and Higuaín/Vardy plus a third defender justify using the chip? I can't sell anyone as I got them all cheap as you can see.. Thoughts?

      You'll probably have 9-10 DGWers in 32 anyway with the amount of United, Wolves, and Chelsea players you have.
      That's the reason most are holding FH, for 32 DGWers.

        That's as I see it too. Plus I have Ryan and Aguero for their doubles already. Need Mane this week, can only really sell Rashford for a Barnes or Wilson with my one FT. So 8 at best. I'm going to go for it, triple Liverpool, triple Chelsea, bench Westwood just in case.

          Wolves do well against the top six, and Burnley away isn't a big concern.
          That said, I'll be FH32, and probably won't have more than one Wolves player, but the original poster is trying to make the best of a bad situation.

      I'll take -12 rather than waste FH because 31 and 33 wrap so well around it and hits should pay for themselves just with appearance points. You're basically using a powerful chip for a few extra players

      You'll be losing a fair amount of value this week anyway as they'll all drop considerably, I'd argue that neither Doherty or Rashford are especially desirable anyway. Cash in now.

      Take a minus 4/8 and get Mane anyway and you're covered for all the likely big hitters. Differentials shouldn't hurt your rank much.

      If you must FH I'd prefer 33 as you'll be able to reach Arsenal and perhaps Spurs assets too.

    Think I'm leaning towards Triple Bou attack for 31 & 33 (NEW, BUR).

    Already got Brooks last week and I'm tempted get Fraser & Wilson this week.
    The 2 blank fixtures look better than all the other teams.

    Can get Higuan or Maddison instead of Wilson/Fraser but I already have Hazard & Vardy plus not so confident about them.

    Thoughts?

      Their home record isn't exciting enough to me to justify that. They battered Chelsea granted but that felt like a freak result and only Watford have conceded 3 to them otherwise since early Sept.

      They have a nice attack but WH Leicester have scored pretty much the same number of goals. And when you factor in that Newcastle will park the bus I think 3 is a real gamble.

    FH32/BB35 people, when are you thinking TC if you haven't used it?

    If not this week, I only see it happening GW36-38, something I'm ambivalent on since there's Europe around those weeks plus form tends to get harder to predict sometimes at that part of the season. Salah this week seems tempting (esp if he gets a goal against Bayern)

    Is it worth taking a hit for a defender for GW31/33 ?

    I'll have 9 players for GW31 if I do Sterling > Hazard. I'd only consider taking a hit for a defender because I'm not going to dump Jiminez or Pogba, my last remaining striker and midfielder, as I have far too much value tied up in them. My best option is Lindelof > Luiz I think...
