The final fixture of Gameweek 1 takes place at 16:30 BST as Manchester United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford.

There weren’t too many shocks upon the release of the teamsheets but perhaps the headline news was that both Mason Mount (£6.0m) and Ross Barkley (£6.0m) – rather than one or the other – start together in Frank Lampard’s first Premier League starting XI as Chelsea manager.

Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) is the man to make way, with the USA international dropping to the bench.

Pedro (£7.0m) completes the trio of attacking midfielders lining up behind lone striker Tammy Abraham (£7.0m).

N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) is only fit enough for a place on the bench, while Willian (£7.0m) and Antonio Rudiger (£6.0m) miss out.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (both £5.5m) are handed their competitive United debuts but Daniel James (£6.0m) is only a substitute.

Andreas Pereira (£5.0m) instead gets the nod and will line up in ‘the hole’, with Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) on the right flank and Marcus Rashford (£8.5m) stationed on the opposite wing.

An ‘out of position’ Anthony Martial (£7.5m) is reportedly set to lead the line.

Budget FPL forward Mason Greenwood (£4.5m) is on the bench, meanwhile.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Zouma, Emerson, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Barkley, Pedro, Abraham.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Rashford, Martial.

Early thoughts on what to do with Trossard

    Ryan, Button
    TAA, VVD, Lepotre, Zinchenko, Kelly
    Salah, Sterling, Perez, Trossard, Dendonker
    Wilson, Jimenez, Greenwood

    0.5m ITB

    A) Save and start him next GW
    B) Save and start Kelly
    C) Trossard to a 6.5m mid of under, is there a good option ?

    1. BattleOfDeBruyne
      • 7 Years
      6 years, 11 months ago

I'd say Perez but you already have him... And dendonker. I think you have too many cheap mids tbh, you could swap him out for barkley though (who played bad).

Honestly this is why I hated the 'greenwood' option. It rules out the chance to play 3 up front. You probably need to start Kelly, he doesn't have a bad fixture against SHU. Then you can play Salah, Sterling & Perez. I assume you mean Laporte BTW? If so, play 5 defenders (not a good idea but no other option), then you can play a 5-3-2. That's about all you can play this season, is those same players each gameweek unless you do a little surgery.

That's what I'm leaning towards, then maybe find a way of getting in Martial with two FT's the week after.

          • 7 Years
          6 years, 11 months ago

Yeah, just to summarize I would go B. Think Kelly has a good, decent chance of hitting a CS. Do you think Trossard will get 6 points? No way! But he might get 3, maybe even 5. So it's obviously up to you, I just see the Kelly CS as a more likely outcome.

    KWP Zinch Trossard Dendoncker

For those with triple Liverpool and a 4.5/4.0 GK, which of the following moves is most likely to pay off during Allison's 4-8 week absence? Note that I have assumed: 1) no other pressing transfer needs, and 2) two hits (-8 points) required for round-trip transfers of Adrian (this may not be the case if you use wildcard or free transfer on the back end of these transactions).

    A) 4.5 GK > Adrian + VVD > LaPorte -8 points
    B) 4.5 GK > Adrian + Robo/TAA > AWB/Maguire -8 points + 1.5M
    C) Wait one week and use 2 FTs to avoid initial hit
    D) Don't bring in Adrian, keep current 4.5 GK
    E) Other (lots of other potential combos depending on personnel)

Fundamental questions: Will Adrian materially outscore other 4.5 options during the next 4-8 weeks? Will Man City, Man U or other premium defenders keep pace with premium Liverpool defender's during Allison's absence?

    1. Hazz
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      Just keep your 4.5 goalie.

      - Will Adrian materially outscore other 4.5 options during the next 4-8 weeks?

Don't know, don't have a crystal ball. Loads of cheapies outscored Allison/Adrian this week.

      - Will Man City, Man U or other premium defenders keep pace with premium Liverpool defender's during Allison's absence?

Maybe? They're unlikely to be as involved in goals as the Liverpool defenders, which tbh is half of their massive selling point (which you lose, if you get Adrian.)

I'm leaning in this direction, but there may be some upside available with a reasonably small upfront risk (-4). This could be especially true if you use the 1.5MM in option B wisely.

Happy Martial and Moura got in the points as they were my biggest doubts. Now I can afford to save a FT.

Ive made a resolution not to take any hits or care about price changes this year, trying a more long term approach to my team. Its already a bit hard not to get in Sterling for the price rise.

Im also trying to do this for the first time, going to be hard as I normally love an early move and a hatful of hits! GL!

Whats the thinking behind it? That price changes 'dictate' your moves, removing free will and choice?

Bernardo Silva is an interesting one for me. Clearly he has to go but do I wait one more week?

why does he clearly have to go. every city player is a rotation risk and he’s not historically a great fpl option. presumably you chose him for some reason and nothing has changed

I chose him because I thought he was nailed for the first few! May not even start now. Not sure what you’re trying to get at to be honest pal.

Got 150+ last year for 8m and was presumed to be playing in the front 3?

he’ll play same amount of minutes as last year. not complicated to understand

I can see why you chose him, I’d be tempted to sit tight because I’m not sure any of the people you could swap to are screaming out but one more benching and he has to fo

I'm ditching this GW, I might pick up Mcginn and shift some funds back to my defenders, not sure yet.

I am keeping. He's not suddenly gone from Pep's favourite to never playing. He will play more than not and be worth it because he is in the team that scores the most goals, is often in the front 3 and will get a share of the spoils. Not as much as some but he's 8m.

Poor Frank Lampard , he has taken that job way too early in his managerial career I reckon, he should have stayed at Derby and maybe he could have kept his Mount man love going with another loan move and achieved promotion. Would look better on his CV than an eight place finish with CHE 😉

Agree, plus there was no reason for him to rush for it.
Chelsea job was always going to be his at some point.

Romanticism in a poor way, could've taken that job a few years down the line. Jumped on it too quick. Obviously the players will 'play' for him but he's out of his depth

    5. AndyCook
      6 years, 11 months ago

His teams not good enough to achieve what he needs to achieve to be considered a success. Same situation as at United for a while

Only City (13) have kept more clean sheets in the PL than Everton (11).

Completely missed this. Going to prioritise a City defender in rather than a seconds Liverpool
