It is a short but important week coming up for Fantasy Premier League managers.

There are some big decisions to be made ahead of Gameweek 3 as some prepare to spend their two free transfers, others consider the Wildcard and that’s before we even get on to the captaincy.

So we’ve put together another panel of fine FPL minds to help you with any dilemmas.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Simon March – Former FPL champion who won the title in 2014/15 and has provided excellent advice ever since.

Always Cheating – The USA’s number one FPL podcast duo comprising of Josh and Brandon.

Gregor – Long-time Fantasy Football Scout moderator.

Doosra – Fantasy Football Scout user with some rather popular custom tables.

    A. Keep Barnes, KDB, and LaPorte

    B. Switch out A. for Kane, Mount, and Zinchenko

    C. Pukki & Mane > Firmino & Son

Current team if that matters for the decision above:

    Pope/Button

    Digne/VVD/LaPorte/Dunk/Lundstram

    Sterling/Mane/KDB/Martial/Ceballos

    Pukki/Barnes/Greenwood

    RMWCT

    Adrian (4.0)
    Walker Digne AWB Lundstram/Kelly
    Sterling Mane KDB Son Martial
    Pukki (Wickham Greenwood)

Yeah not optimal to play Lundstram or Kelly every week but could be worth it. Can't decide whether Son or Martial should leave for Lanzini/Mount to fund a better defence, so I have them both and sacrifice the defence a bit. Thoughts?

Your midfield is a dream, but the lack of punch upfront is a concern for me. People on this site disagree (with little evidnece to back it up) but there's plenty of value in cheap and cheerful defence right now so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

          6 years, 4 months ago

Sure, go lighter on defence, bolster a second forward a little and be intelligent with your FTs and you’ll be fine. Here’s my WC team:
          Patrício (4.0)
          Lund, Coleman, Dunk, AWB, Kelly,
          Martial, Sterling, KDB, Mane, Cantwell,
          Kane, Barnes, Wickham

Same as mine but I have Mount instead of Son and used that money to include the 2 Liverpool full backs

      Happy with 451?

I am undecided but none of the strikers appeal to me

      1. lekalatch
        • 6 Years
        6 years, 4 months ago

Exactly, none of the strikers is tempting except Pukki. The midfield is where value lies I believe. Yeah I've had recent drafts with Mount/Trossard for Son and a better defence, but I really love Son and thinks he could be very good...

Going to a 451 on a wildcard would be a mistake, right?

None of the strikers appeal to me, apart from Pukki after his great start but how many goals is he realistically going to score this season?

Kane and Auba I do like but 11 million is a lot when Sterling, Salah and Mane will outscore them and even having KDB who can keep up will allow you the extra to upgrade the defence.

    Thoughts?

The problem with it is subs (no starting 4.5m forwards), so make sure your other sub is 100% nailed (none of the 4.0m def are).

Started rather well, yet I have some issues:

Don’t like the double pool in the back, Perez about to fall in price and Haller a question mark.

    Should I :

    B Perez to Trossard
C Haller to Rashford (have martial)

    Funny game, this one.

Ranked 2,137,222 after GW 1; decided that I'd hold firm.

Sunday rolls around for GW 2. Barkley doesn't play. Vardy blanks again...and I panic sell Barkley, Townsend, and Vardy for Ceballos, Cantwell, and Kane for a -4 in fear of price drops.

Yet, after the dust settles, I've moved up to 959,840 after GW 2.

Just kind of funny, the fantasy football "logic"...

    My "piece de WC resistance"...

        Cheers.
I lost value on Fraser because I waited to see Wolwes game yesterday, and I was scared to pull the trigger before it and see AWB or Rashford who I own get injured.
Then I opted for these two as I can see them getting some returnes with nice fixtures coming up.
Abraham should start in front of Giroud, he's young prospect for them, and if Pukki managed to reproduce his last season's performances from Championship to PL, then why can't I expect the same from Tammy.
It's a long shot, but I'm willing to take the risk.

Bad. Abraham is not nailed and Siggy has blankes 2 games in a row.

That could turn out to be true, but I'm willing to give Tammy next two gameweeks to impress me. He'll play Norwich and Sheffield and if he can't score against them, then he's out for good.

Isn't Wilson the only one to score points out of those players.

Yes he did, but he was lucky. First "assist" is just funny, he should have buried that shot in the net, and he somehow managed to miss it from 2 meteres, then the ball bounced back to Mepham and he scored a tap in.

Getting chances is more important than conversion % for fpl purposes imo. His fixtures are not very good though so I don't think it's a big mistake to sell him.

Why, Siggy could have easily scored twice against Palace, PVA luckily stopped his shot on the goal line. Fixtures are as good as they can be, while Fraser and Wislon will play City and get trashed 0-4 or something like that. Beside that, they played against two promoted sides and looked rubbish.
Abraham should start before Giroud and has nice fixtures coming up.
I don't think it's idiotic, rather a little bit of a long shot and prediciting few gameweeks in front.

Everybody is getting in Pukki but I can see him blanking next three games easily.

I feel like it's time to give up on Liverpool defense. So how does the following sound?

Robertson, TAA and BSilva to Mane, Maguire and Kelly for -4.

It leaves me with the following:

    Lloris
    Maguire, Zinchenko, Digne, Lundstram
    Salah, Mane(c), Sterling(vc), Tielemans
    King, Deulofeu

    Button, Kelly, Dendocker, Greenwood

Wouldn’t get rid of both Maybe just one liv def and bilva.

Think that still leaves you short for KDB or son so maybe just do one move this week and roll.

Or liv def bilva > AWB/McGuire + Martial.

    Ederson
Digne - Van Dijk - Robertson
Salah - De Bruyne - Perez - Lucas
    Rashford - King - Jota
Subs: Button, Dendoncker, Lascelles and Kelly.

How do you find the team? What should I change or is it that good?

      Good team.

I’d be getting impatient with Perez very soon. He does not look well integrated in that team.

I think Maura will need to go at some point, but that’s not urgent.

I’m not a fan of King because he’s basically a penalty taker only.

With all that said, I think you still have a nice team.

Planned on WC GW5 and I want to stick to that, so...

Fraser and Wilson - KDB and Chicarito?

Is Haller going to be fit?

    1. Greek Flair
      • 9 Years
      6 years, 4 months ago

      Chicarito is

      1. Second fiddle to Haller
      2. A transfer waiting to happen

      And most importantly

      3. Garbage

BUT, if he plays for their two easy fixtures before I get rid on GW5 wildcard, is it the worst thing in the world?

I kinda get your idea, if Haller was ruled out for a significant period of time...
But Everything I’ve read suggest Haller is back for this weekend

How to fund Wilson > Kane?

    Heaton
    TAA VVD Digne Zinchenko
    Salah Sterling Perez Siggy
    Wilson Jota

    Subs: Lund, Dendonc, Greenwood

    A) TAA >Kelly
    B) TAA, Perez > AWB Cantwell (-4)

B gives an extra playing option.

Dont follow your logic on B giving an extra playing option?
TAA and Perez are both starters anyways

Ah.. ok got you..out of those maybe b, Kelly wont be long term option, but I think taa and perez are good for the next few games.

People forget that arsenal at home is pretty equal to Bournemouth away attacking returns wise. Arsenal are still poor defensively, their first two games have flattered to deceive as easy defensive fixtures.
