It is a short but important week coming up for Fantasy Premier League managers.

There are some big decisions to be made ahead of Gameweek 3 as some prepare to spend their two free transfers, others consider the Wildcard and that’s before we even get on to the captaincy.

So we’ve put together another panel of fine FPL minds to help you with any dilemmas.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Simon March – Former FPL champion who won the title in 2014/15 and has provided excellent advice ever since.

Always Cheating – The USA’s number one FPL podcast duo comprising of Josh and Brandon.

Gregor – Long-time Fantasy Football Scout moderator.

Doosra – Fantasy Football Scout user with some rather popular custom tables.

    How's this team looking?

    Ryan
    Zinchenko Coleman Dunk Lundstrum
    KDB Mane Martial Sterling
    Kane Pukki

    Subs: Button Dendonker Greenwood Kelly

Is someone able to tell me how reliable Pukki is going to be against Chelsea? Everyone seems to have faith in him but i think everyone’s jumping on the hype train very early.

He just looks the real deal, seriously. He was excellent last season and doesn't look any different this time. He'll get 15 goals easily maybe push 20 and for his price it's a no brainer.

I'd say 15-20 is realistic which would give him another 11-16 goals in the next 36 games

Plus, say he gets those 11-16 goals in 10-15 games... That leaves him with somewhere in the region of 20-25 blanks in his next 36

Interesting. I’ve (possibly stupidly) played my free hit this week. Currently I’ve lined up Kane mcgoldrick and Jimenez for the front three. Should i put pukki over Jimenez?

He's already got 1/4 of that. That means in the remaining 36 games he'll get about 12 goals, 1 goal every 3 games? I think he'll do better tbh

He played well in his last two games one of high was Liverpool. Chelsea haven't looked good in defence so he has a good chance of scoring again but obviously it's not guaranteed

    Why (not)?

    1. Regin

of course not. pukki is a center forward, nailed, goal machine, in form,..

No: he won't get dropped. The main thing that could happen would be norwich stop scoring full stop but they look like they'll attack regardless if they get beat by 3/4 ref Liverpool. He may not be exceptional value but unlikely to offer poor value

    3. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 15 Years
      6 years, 4 months ago

He won't play Newcastle every week

And Adrian is doing his best to make Liverpool look ordinary at the back

But he's quite cheap in fairness to him

        If he's nailed then no

Compared to King which is in a lot of teams, King is 0.5 more, scores half his goals due to pens, and Pukki is already 1/3 on his way to beat Kings last season goal tally (in 2 games !!!)

What are people’s views on having a strong 11 with 3 benchfodders vs. a strong 12 with 2 benchfodders

What are pros/cons of each strategy? At the moment I am mulling on Kane/Wickham to give me a strong 11 vs Rashford/Pukki for a strong 12

      Pope heaton
Vvd taa digne zincheko — Rico
Martial kdb sterling perez — Dendocker
      King xxx xxx

      1. You can probably be a little more aggressive with the amount of fodder if you have your WC up your sleeve still. Donkey fits the role nicely as both fodder in terms of price, and playable (although with limited expectations).

There was an article here in pre-season on using your bench.
It's sensible to have 2 active subs - a third will very rarely be used so is unimportant.
so basically a Strong XI and 2 active subs, prob being a 4.5 def and 4.5 mid.

      How's this draft chaps?

      Pope
      VVD, Dunk, Lundstram, Soyuncu
      Mane, Sterling, KDB, Martial
      Kane, Pukki

      (Button, Dendoncker, Pieters, Greenwood)

Rotation between Dunk, Lundstram, Soyunku, Dendoncker & Pieters seems to be good for the next 4 or 5 weeks.

      Alternatively, Kane, Dendoncker & Soyuncu (4-4-2) -> Wickham, Son & AWB (4-5-1).

      Cheers

Do you not think that the VVD money could be shared around defence? 2 of Coleman/ Mina/ Zinchenko/ Emerson over VVD and a 4.5?

Cheers. Had considered that yep, but looked at the fixtures for the 4.5s and the rotation works quite well. Would be nice to get AWB/Zinchenko/Everton DEF in though.

Hmm yes - instead of VVD you mean? 3-5-2 would mean starting AWB/Zinchenko every game with two from Dunk, Soyunku, Lundstram and Kelly. Doable...

Have the same front 8 exept Cantwell instead of Dendoncker so I like it.

Looking at Pool's and Man City's fixtures I prefer Zinchenko over a Pool Defender for the moment.

My backline is: Pope, Digne, Zinch, Lundstram, Kelly, 4.5 (probably Villa or Brighton)

I did Moura and Robbo to Laporte and Martial last night to beat the prices. Kinda regret the move cause TAA and Robbo still have amazing stats. So I wouldn't

if for free...sacrifice VVD instead. More points potential for TAA imo. You can always get VVD back on a wildcard even though I will be opting for Laporte for the entire season

Thanks. Didn’t look at that option, but like the sound of it. Moves will be vvd barkley > martial Soyuncu for free.

No. You are trading two starters for one, and not for a hit

Wouldn't want to transfer a player in that doesn't play

He’ll take the 3rd spot on bench. Dendonker/Montoya/Lundstram plays instead. Only way to get KDB

Don't like getting players who don't play not my way of playing this game. But if you really want KDB..

What premiums you'll going with? - question goes to wildcarders and sensible folk alike.
      I'll define a premium for arguments sake as >6 def, >8 mid/fwd

For me TAA, Mane, Sterling, KdB.

I'd like those but Salah over Mane for me, Rashford or Martial look a good premium option and Digne as well if you classify him as premium

        Pickford
        Digne, Laporte, AWB, Lundstram
        Sterling, Martial, NDombele, KDB
        Rashford, Pukki

        McGovern, Pieters, Ceballos, Wickham

        My new WC team

      A, B or C?

      A) Roll 2FT
      B) Robbo & Perez > AWB & Martial (free)
      C) Robbo & King > AWB & Pukki (free)

Is it knee jerky to get rid of Leicester assets now? Sitting with Perez and Tielemans. Have a feeling it can be completely different in 2 GWs from now

Neither have looked great so far, I sold Perez, not too worried about the Sheffield game as they look a tough team to play, could easily haul v Bournemouth though...

Sold Perez but if I go back it will likely be for Maddy - looks the catalyst for everything...

keep kdb, not worth the hassle of rearranging funds when kdb is just as popular right now

Are you a Utd fan by any chance with the triple up? Not a huge fan of double Utd attack at all tbh, they just don't look threatening enough final 3rd. Don't see how 3M is gonna get you one of Salah/Mane without losing one of Sterling/KDB which you're unlikely to want to do over the coming weeks with those fixtures?
