The latest episode of the Scoutcast is about to start on our YouTube channel.

You can watch the show from 8pm to 9pm BST.

This week, Joe is joined by Az and David to discuss the key Fantasy Premier League talking points ahead of Gameweek 3.

The next round of action is an important one for Fantasy managers as many will be wielding their two free transfers.

Already bandwagons have begun to form, so our Scoutcasters will be discussing how best to approach these.

Naturally, Teemu Pukki (£6.7m) is a prime example after he scored a hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

However, we will also be examining Liverpool assets after a lacklustre start to the season at both ends of the pitch.

Just done my first hit - Wilson / TAA / Perez >> KDB / Pukki / Lundstram

& cash itb to do Cathcart >> AWB/Maguire/Shaw next week which would leave me with

    Pope/Ryan
    Van Dijk Digne Zinchenko AWB
    Salah Sterling KDB Martial
    Pukki Adams

Dendoncker - Lundstram - Greenwood on the bench

Alternatively, I can always easily Adams if he doesn't look like scoring. But giving him another week or 2 for now
Salah >> Mane also on the radar for when I need an upgrade elsewhere

What do you think of this all out attack WC team? Plan will be to strengthen defence as things settle as I’m just not convinced by any defenders right now and feel the points are in attack.

    Ryan
    Montoya Pieters Lundstram
    Martial KdB Mane Sterling
    Barns Pukki Kane (C)

    Button Ceballos Kelly Hanley

I like it, just make sure they’re all nailed. Maybe downgrade Ceb to Cantwell and use that extra mil to have all nailed budget defenders.

Thank man. Thought about it but the price rise and potential of Cal compared to wants available at 4:5 makes me think hold him, then strength defence with a couple of free transfers as something happens to one of these star forwards

Bit of a disappointing current rank of around 450k, and like 88 in country league. Thought I might manage a better start than that, but captaincy and punt options haven’t worked out so far.

Trying not to knee jerk too much though (though my one transfer so far has been to jump on the Pukki train), and remembering one GW can change everything - managed to go 800k to under 50k in one week GW5 last season (mainly courtesy to faith in a certain flagged Ryan Fraser).

How’s everyone else feeling so far?

    1. SB007
      • 8 Years

Rubbish after week 2 and I have knee jerked - had faith in Leicester and Liv defenders and THEY HAVE KILLED MY START hence WILDCARD to template.

Lost all my discipline and never played it so early in over decades of playing this

Ouch. I’ve tried to resist the urge, but may be pushed to soon if injuries occur ie Zinch and Digne.

No Leicester defence for me, but I’m sticking by my TAA VVD for now

Ah right, yeah I feel you there with Perez. I’m giving him one more week but almost definitely will make way for a cheaper guy to allow Son/KDB in.

I started with Wilson over Vardy in the end, and expected way more from the first two so have now ditched him for the Scandinavian King Pukki

An even more disappointing 750k OR which spurred me to take an unprecedented -8 to try and make some gains

Yeh I pretty much played it safe all last season but I wanted to make some moves but also don’t want to squander the old WC this early.

I did Wilson, Moura, Perez, Robbo > Pukki, Martial, KDB, AWB (-8) to give me:

          Heaton
          VVD, Digne, Zinch, AWB
          Salah, Sterling, KDB, Martial
          Pukki, Jota
          (Button) (Lunds, Dendo, G’wood)

The rank doesn't really matter much at this stage. I'm 65k which I'm happy with but can all change in one bad or god game week.

Don't worry mate, started off at 660k, down to 840k or so now. Felt a bit rubbish getting a poor score this week, but Friday is a quick turnaround (to be let down by Digne, lol).

I'm not panicking, nor should you.

OR: 116.148 so I'm kind of satisfied. This is the turning point where people around me use early wildcards. I could fit guys in like De Bruyne and Mané but I'd butcher my team and take at least -8. I'm resisting the urge and take no hits but things are looking a bit shaky:

Double Liverpool defence, 0 goals inbetween C. WIlson and Vardy. Don't know if I should take hits and cancel out massive jumps by adding popular picks (Pukki, De Bruyne, Mané)

Lads, sorry if this has already been answered:

Last night I had 2 free transfers. I made 3 transfers for what should’ve been a 4 point hit but the app said (-8) points.

Do we know if this glitch has been corrected or will I get stung for -8??

Happened to me. Noticed in time. Easy enough to work out how many points you were charged, but you’ll have to wait for next gameweek. Take the sum of your total score from your players over the three weeks, minus the score showing at the end of the GW when everything is updated. Divide the answer by 4 and that’s the number of hits you’ve taken!

No - feel like he is carrying on where he left off last season. I have noticed when he is 1 on 1 he can't hit the corners and constantly hits the keeper. Anyone else see this pattern?

I’m asking coz Mane improved significantly last year, the total points variance circa 30 and whilst this is a lot 1 mil goes a long way

Obviously having either or at the right time is the way forwards but salah has edged down from his elite position

If you recall those soft pens salah got last year then is there much in it - equally when Milner is on the pitch salah doesn’t get pens

Currently got 2 FT and 0.5itb:

    Hendo
    Robo VVD Digne Montoya
    Salah Sterl Robinson Perez
    Aubameyang Wesley
    (Stek, Diop, Greenwood, Dendonk)

I want spurs and united cover. Thinking:

    A) Aubameyang, Robinson, Perez, Robertson > Rashford, Son/KDB, Martial, Lowton (0.3 ITB) - 8

    B) Aubameyang, Perez, Robertson to Kane, Martial, AWB (0.9 ITB) - 4

Tough as both good. I’d go Martial as I think he could explode.

Martial failed to get any BPS yet again despite scoring a goal once more and that's a little bit of a concern for a 7.6M midfielder.

Also, there are solid 6M or 6.5M options in midfield while strikers in that range are rarer, right now basically only Pukki and Barnes, maybe Jimenez but he has bad fixtures.

With all the talk about a decline in Liverpool’s defence, I’m trying to workout if Robertson (7.0) should be sold.

Even if Liverpool now drop to 1 clean sheet in 4, which is a mid table sort of stat, that works out to 1 clean sheet point per game. A midfielder of a similar price would likely be getting 0.25 points per game for cleansheets.

Therefore, you’re really comparing average attacking returns of 7.0 midfielders (I think). Am I right in my approach to this?

If I am, does anyone know how Robertson compares in attack to 7.0 midfielders ?

No, I think Liverpool will settle.

Liverpool will get more than 9.5 clean sheets.

I agree. But I suppose I’m saying, if you did not depend on much from clean sheets, how would Robbo compare in assists/goals to midfielders?

Or enough way to look at it, what’s better:

        Robbo + 4.5 midfielder
        4.5 defender + 7.0 midfielder?

Hmm, if I had to play a 4.5 every week, defender is better. But would never want to play a 4.5 every week.

objectively yes, and over the season it will work out just fine.

however whats going to happen in that scenario is Eve/City/Utd/Che/Spurs defenders will haul and folk looking for ways to upgrade to KdB/Son/Kane/Martial/Rashford type players making Robbo the fall guy (its already occurring to some extent), especially as after the next 3 their fixtures turn sour. even if they just end up on par with those other defensive options - the natural question is can I free up some funds?

a mass exodus of players so heavily owned will knock 0.3-0.5 off their value.

None of the players have changed. Why are they all of a sudden going to become an average defence? Alisson being injured is a blow but it isn't long term. Klopp and the players will sort it out.

A "decline" after two games in august where they conceded no more than 1 goal in each game(the second one due to a bad mistake of the goalkeeper) is really an overstatement.

Robertson scored well in the BPS despite the goal conceded and he also almost scored a goal so it'd be insane to sell him.

Liverpool had a "full" season, they fought for the PL until the end and got to the end of the Champions League and won it; a slow start isn't surprising nor is it worrying.

It's like finding a random game where Salah blanked last season, and then using that as a reason not to go with him.

        This is my WC team...

        Pope
        Mina, AWB, Zinchenko
        Ceballos, KDB, Sterling, Salah, Martial
        Pukki, Rashford

Only playing subs are Kelly, Lundstram - worth getting Kane?

Pukki got a hattrick vs Newcastke. Kane gonna need to so the same to justify paying more for Kane.
