It has not been a memorable start to the season for Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Fraser (£7.3m).

After registering a total of seven goals and 14 assists in 2018/19, the Scottish international has now gone three matches of the new campaign without a single attacking return.

Not surprisingly, Fraser has already dropped £0.2m in price as Fantasy managers look elsewhere for value in midfield.

However, is there a possibility that they may come crawling back when Bournemouth’s fixtures become a little more favourable.

Gameweek 3 pitted the Cherries against defending champions Manchester City, while this weekend takes them to face Leicester City.

After those two tough matches, Gameweek 5 sees Eddie Howe’s men host Everton before they clash with Southampton (away) and West Ham (home).

We have assessed Fraser’s numbers from the first three matches of 2019/20 to see whether his owners should be patient or not.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the new season can access it in full.

How has Fraser started the season?

Lessons learned from Gameweek 3

I have Zinc and KDB but have thus far gone without Sterling.

My only way of getting additional city attack for next 4 weeks is to downgrade Robinson (currently doubled up) and then Vardy>Kun .

However with a good Leicester fixture and Kun only really nailed for one game I am unsure.?

Other route is to get Sterling for a -8.

    Any advice please.

Vardy > Kun would be for -4

Vardy is great for this gameweek - i wouldnt take a hit to swap him.

Just swap Salah to Sterling 😛

Is there a general consensus on hits? For example I have taken -12 and still has a decent score (100-200kOR) and a team that doesn’t need WC (Haller, KDB, Barnes etc). I usually do take 30-40 hits a season, is it too much, or should one do whatever is needed?

I usually take 30/40 myself and have only ever finished in top 50k once.

This year I am trying to take way less hits (despite the post above)

Note only to save the direct cost but also listening to what Mark said about ‘sticking to the plan’ in the MTM scoutcast last season.

Yep hits are an integral part of the game and you need to master them to reap potential rewards.
The advice that lowest hits over a season is somehow better is simplistic yet it still gets trotted out.
Clearly if you take too many you run a higher risk of them not paying off and seriously hitting your rank, but if you take none youll miss out on potential opportunities to significantly improve rank and team value.
Pretty much like gambling, you've got to be in it to win it, but you don't want to be reckless....

40 does sound on the high side as that works out at just over a hit per week, but if they were sensible, non kneejerky and paid off mostly then it's ok.
I'm probably taking 20 or less in a typical season, so maybe one every other week, but I'm not an elite HOFer

In it to win it! What about earlier hits/later hits (in the season) more reward earlier since you gain TV?

        1. Colonel Shoe 肝池
          • 14 Years
          6 years, 10 months ago

Earlier hits have a whole season to be written off and you can probably gain tv, so they're possibly less harmful, but I don't like hard and fast rules when it comes to hits as by their nature they're opportunistic

Take a look at the Hall of Fame and that should give you a pretty good indication. They don’t take too many hits, certainly not a hit a week average!

The reason is this (Luke eluded to this point in the Scoutcast a couple of weeks back).......when face with a tough decision on whether to stick or twist, theres a good to even chance that it will not pay off (50/50 lets say). So, the decision to stick means to have saved yourself free transfers, and gained extra information. Of course, if a play is clearly good value (like Sterling or Pukki) then of course jump on them early. But tinkering around all season is not the way to go.

      Hope this helps

Also hall of famers are pretty good at setting their team up for the long run in the first place and so don't need to take as many hits to fix it.
If your taking hits every week it could point to weaknesses in planning and team selection

The ultimate goal is to achieve the highest points total possible. If you can use a hit to bring in players who then outperform the ones you sold then it can be worth it.

It is recognised though that almost all of the "meet the managers" play a flexible game with excellent planning so their requirement for hits is minimal.

What are people with Greenwod's plan if Martial is out?

Put Greenwood 1st on bench and assume he starts or keep him further down the bench in case he comes on for a 1 pointer and keep someone like Lundstram 1st on bench instead?

1st on bench for me, Montoya is the other option, who will probably get less than 1 point anyway!

No doubt kun is a great option right now, but he’s a transfer out waiting to happen. Look at the last 2 sesons. KDB at 9.5/9.7 is a much better pick. Not saying don’t get kun, but plan ahead for when Jesus returns as they are clearly going to share minutes and render themselves poor value

Sánchez move about to go through so I doubt it. Jamie Jackson could not know any less about football. He suggested angel gomes would fill in for shaw at left back after being ruled out. Gomes. The 5ft4 attacking midfielder

then its more likely people will transfer the same players that the non martial owners already have, hence making it less fun

    Pope

    AWB Digne Zinchenko

    Martial Sterling Salah cantwell

    Pukki Aguero Jota

    Button kelly Rico Dendo

    0.1 ITB.

Currently on a -4 this week is it worth to consider a WC with the uncertainty around Martial.

unsure on taking a -4 hit the martial news and potential rises for barnes and kdb, and also second guessing the aguero punt. makes me think i should consider a move

    Advice welcome

I'm on 11k OR and the thing is I don't know how I have achieved that. My highest ranking ever in over ten years of FPL. Don't have any special strategies or even access to "underlying stats" as they are often referred as.

Guess there is more luck involved than we generally like to admit.

No, he outscored pukki last week. Who’s to say he can’t do it again?
Pukki then blanks vs city (IMO) and then Haller hopefully scores well vs villa.

Haller for me out for the two at the moment.

This team is doing well (44k) but would you wildcard it?

    Pope
    Robertson, Digne, Dunk, Lundstram
    Salah, Sterling, Martial, McGinn
    Kane, King

    (Button, Rico, Dendoncker, Greenwood)

Robbo is about to drop, Martial might be hurt and there's a few players I want (Pukki, Haller, Auba, Zinchenko) but I really wanted this to be the year where I kept the WC until later.

Moura looks good.. just lack of creativity from Kane (and Eriksen on the bench that moment).

    2. Witty Pun: Not good at this…
      • 9 Years

Moura owner. My tinfoil theory is that part of the reason why Pochettino lined up with no creative players in his team is because he wanted to drop Lucas and Lamela without repercussions after what would surely be a negative game.

    Pope

    Salah // Sterling // KDB // Pepe // Mount
    Haller // Pukki

    Button // Greenwood // Lundstram // Rico
