Fantasy managers who sign up as a Member to our website get access to a huge array of player and team statistics.

Among the underlying stats on offer is expected goal (xG) data, which many will be familiar with already.

For the uninitiated, xG is the measure of a quality of a chance based on criteria such as proximity of goal and angle of attempt.

For example, a shot from inside the six-yard box will carry a higher xG than a speculative effort from 35 yards.

Along the same lines, expected assist (xA) data calculates the quality of chance being created.

Expected goal data doesn’t predict when goals will be scored and isn’t a crystal ball for the future – rather, it is a measure of chances created in the past.

Nevertheless, many find xG data useful.

Fantasy managers can use the information to see which players are consistently being presented with – or providing – high-quality opportunities, which in turn can be helpful when making future team selections.

The rest of this article will be dedicated to looking at the xG data available in our Members’ Area, drawing attention to the players who have had significant expected goal involvement in 2019/20 so far and those who are under/overachieving based on their actual output.

Below are some of the most commonly used expected goal categories in our Members’ Area and the players featuring prominently in the respective tables.

While four matches is a small sample size, some familiar names are already leading the way.

All prices given in the tables and in the copy were correct at the time of writing (Friday).

    Few options!

    A) laporte to otamendi (allows joelinton to Barnes next gw)
    B) laporte to Pieters (allows joelinton to haller next gw)
    C) do a or b both this gw for a hit
    D) just laporte to otamendi

    New rules in UCL Fantasy.

From now on, we'll get extra points for:

Every three balls recovered --- +1
Goals scored from outside the box (in addition to points for scoring) --- +1

That makes someone as Kante with 2.6 recoveries on average a viable pick and set piece takers even better. Would you like something like that in FPL?

    1. JonBoy

100% would be a good addition, with players like Kante and Ndidi being considered. Its attack attack now, these 5M CDM’s are useless to the game, nothing but bench fodder, its a shame, Kante is top 5 players in the league but useless in a premier league fantasy game, his skills should somehow be rewarded in the game

Boring answer will be between B and C

But as i don´t rate Jesus much and Sané is out for the remainder of season which eventually will either get Pep to play Jesus in Sterlings position or the latter will be injured, and the difference in quality between Kun and Jesus being as it is i say A

Yeh you're right, it's more to stay in the loop with a lot of players I'm seeing going in to teams kane/Auba/haller/James etc.

Pukki = possibilty of goals but may blank. He is at home so I would not bench him and would not rule out at least 1 goal.

Cabellos = possibilty of 2 points if he starts as I do not see Arsenal keeping a clean sheet or maybe 1 if he comes on as a sub.

          Who you going to start?

          For -8 I would

          Martial, Laporte, Joelinton

          To

          Tielemans, Ota, Haller

Reason I would -8 as clearly not worth while having Martial if you look at his minutes on the pitch over the last two seasons.

Hey daily WC dilemma help thanks

    A) Pepe + Dilva + greenwood (2/3 playing subs)
    B) Auba + Ceballos + Cantwell (3/3 playing subs)

      7 years, 1 day ago

B if you think Ceballos is now nailed. But I think you want Pepe so should do A

Will you be more annoyed if he hauls and you don't have him, or vice versa?

      B.

I've been second guessing myself with Auba because hardly anybody owns him. Definitely guilty of being swayed by the herd but now I'm sticking to my guns.

I think premiums only become bandwagon on here if they haul. That's the only reason I can think of why he isn't in more teams. His goalscoring stats have been ridiculous for 7 seasons in a row, and now Arsenal's fixture's get good. I don't get it.

I just took Auba out... It is hard to own Salah, Sterling KDB and a premium striker

I had Salah and Sterling... the question was KDB or Auba and I have to go with KDB if I'm honest

He isn't in more teams because Salah, Mane, Sterling, KDB, Aguero are all better picks than him with a plum fixture next week and people can't afford them all. Pool and City are significantly better than Arsenal no matter how good Arsenal's fixtures are.

Doesn't matter if Pool & City are significantly better than Arsenal. We're playing FPL.

Who was the highest scoring forward last season? I know I sound smug saying this, but I guarantee he will be in your team soon.

Highest scoring yet was a worse pick than Aguero because he was often benched and his returns came at unpredictable times to rely on for captaincy. Praising him for being the highest scoring after the season ended is pointless if you did not pick him much during the season. Your highest-scoring forward was still outscored by Salah, Mane, and Sterling. KDB is a value pick this time.

Auba is a fantastic player, but his score benefited MASSIVELY from 2 things last season:

        1. GW8 Fulham - benched, but came on with 25 mins left and got 16 points
        2. GW9 Leicester - benched, but came on with 25 mins left and got 13 points

Take that 30 points away & his ok-ish (compared to elite minds) 200 points becomes positively underwhelming

His manager is a fraudulent tinkering psychopath... basically he’s in, he’s out, he’s wide, he’s narrow, he’s on, he’s off, etc etc

Not the worth the hassle imo

But no doubt he could do well with those fixtures

My wc plan lat wee included Auba as a possible target either in GW6 or 7, hence why i put Kun in there to have that price point. And i really want to see how Emery treats EL, and if Pepe is nailed in the PL, he is for me a more tempting one just beacuse i would then be able to also have Vardy/Firmino. But Auba and say Maddison is not bad either i guess. Both Chelsea and Arsenal and to a certain degree City and Spurs will be interesting to see after they played the first CL/EL as we might get better picture of which players is PL first choices and not.

A but that's just because it includes Sterling.
Kane's been underwhelming although to be fair Eriksen's staying and has a good fixture run now

    RASHFORD + ROBERTSON ==> AGÜERO + PIETERS for -4.

Maybe not given liv/mun fixtures. Comes down to how much you want Aguero

He does that. It's just the west ham attacking style that worries me. I'll be sticking with it though for at least a few weeks to see how it goes. I made the decision with the medium to longer term in mind after all.

The Pukki, Barnes, Haller and Abraham picture has me glad I have the first 2 and a WC still intact to allow me to assess the 4 options for a couple more weeks.

Haller is a fantastic pick but Barnes is a great option nonetheless. Woul pick Haller over Barnes myself but wouldn't swap them if I had Barnes already.

Would have said the same at Anfield against a better defence, so it's not impossible. However, I do agree ish...I'm taking Lund over pukki. Think Lund more chance of a cs than pukki a goal

Shu vs sou is 50/50. Defensively shuare kinda good. There is better chance for cs imo. Also lunds does go forward sometimes and almost scored last week too. I would def play him.

Wondering if Pukki + McGinn + MITB > De Bruyne + Ayew + (4). (Only own Sterling from City and I want to double up)
    Thoughts?

*Thought about Sterling + McGinn > Aguero + De Bruyne, but transferring out Sterling while taking a hit for Aguero who might get rotated sounded mad.

WILDCARD- is no Sterling a big mistake? Feel Son could explode?

    Pope
    Zinchenko - TAA - VVD
Salah - KDB - David Silva - Son - Mount
    Pukki - Haller

    Button - Greenwood - Lundstrom - Kelly

    Thanks!
