The Meet the Manager series, where Joe interviews a Fantasy manager with a more than enviable track record, is back for 2019/20.

This campaign’s series of interviews starts with a chat with Tarek Balbaa, who explains why being based in Egypt has helped ensure he puts the eye test to good use in his Fantasy decisions.

Over his illustrious career, Tarek has eight top 10,000 finishes, including two in the top 1,000.

With all Premier League matches broadcast in Egypt, he is able to watch four to five televised games a week.

This has ensured he was quick to acquire Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne this season and is still reticent to invest heavily in Manchester United.

Underlying statistics are still important to Tarek but he likes to go back to basics with such research, preferring shots in the box statistics than the phenomena of expected statistics.

Tarek also talks about his poor seasons and the lessons he’s learned from mistakes made. Chief of these for him has been to focus heavily on what mini-league rivals are up to.

The chat with Tarek is available to view on Youtube here and in the embedded video below.

It is also available on Soundcloud and as a podcast. Embedded versions of these are also available below.

All 15 previous episodes can be viewed via our Youtube channel or heard via our Soundcloud channel.

Which of the following combinations would you prefer going forward?

    A) Digne + Haller

Have all 3 and am definetley keeping for now. Will possibly do Aguero to Haller if he starts getting his minutes managed again so I can get a better balance in defence. For now I'm happy though.

Where is the Kane hate coming from?
Hes in great form (played well vs Arsenal and smacked the ball against the post from a crazy angle and coulf have had assists in a second half that was dominated by the Gunnersss)

I don’t know if it’s Kane hate really.

We all know he’s one of the best strikers on the planet and if he stays healthy he’s going to score a bagful of goals for Spurs.

But you can’t have everyone and having a guy like Kane means that you almost certainly have to go without one or both of Salah and Sterling. Even Mané is a squeeze now.

The same is true of Kun and Auba too. All great strikers and great FPL picks, but hard to fit them in if you want two of the 3 top scoring mids from last term.

If you have Kane then be happy you have him and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing.

I transferred him out after the last game. It’s not that I dislike him, he’s a great striker when fit and on form, it’s more that Spurs look like a team with “backstage” issues at the moment and it’s affecting their play. He doesn’t pass the eye test either. For 11m I expected more than what I was getting from him and as I wouldn’t have captained him over the next 10 games (City / Liverpool captaincies all the way) it was an easy decision for me.

Does anyone know whether Callum Robinson came off with his injury on Thursday night or if the sub was more tactical/precautionary?

Just wondering because I listened on the radio and they made it sound like a tactical change with no mention of an injury problem but news outlets claim Robinson "limped off".

Asking as a Robinson owner - I'm hoping the "hamstring strain" that is being reported is just a minor issue or a bit of a white lie to get him home early and rested for next weekend 😀

He did came off injured. Coz he has been sent back to shieff and will skip the second internation match. Having said that it can be very little ( as typical international injury). Would wait for pressers.

Not much happening here during IB... boring. Anyone care to RMT?

    Pope - 4.0
    TAA - Ota - Zinch - Lundy - Rico
Salah - KDB - Pepe - James - Douglas Luiz
    Haller - Vardy - Barnes

Douglas Luiz and Lundstram for playing bench. Pepe to have a punt in the team, he looks very keen to get on the score sheet in an attacking side.

Thanks. Yea no Sterling is an issue but cant have them all and I think KDB and defenders offer better value. No issue captaining Salah every week! No I had a red arrow, 1.8m now. Rage wildcarded on Sunday :p

I have Pepe so that's a yes from me.

But I would look to get at least 2 City attackers somehow - their fixtures are way too good to ignore. Either Sterling + KdB or Aguero for one of them. Vardy's fixtures are stiff for a while. I know he's a stat buster, but surely Aguero too tough to leave off with his fixtures.

I'm monitoring Pepe for now with a view to bringing him in in the next couple of weeks. Want to see some output first.

Any WC teams out there with Salah, Sterling, KDB & Pepe without a horrific squad balance?

1Ft with 5.2 itb what move to do ? Or I'd be open to -4 and two moves.

    Pope/
    Dunk/ Awb/ Digne/ Lundstram/
    Mane (vc)/ Sterling (cap) / KDB/ Lanzini/
    Abraham/ pukk/

    Subs Button/ Wickham/ D.luiz/ Kelly/

      5.2itb wow.

I would do Luiz to TAA and Wickham to Wilson or Jiminez.

Yes, more of time to integrate with his new teammates. Ample time to work with the likes of AubaZette.

Thinking of going against the majority and do this WC team.

    Pope
    Mings Tark Otamendi Dunk Lundstram
    Salah Mane DSilva Pepe Cantwell
    Haller Barnes C. Wilson

2 players I would still want are KDB and TAA.

Otherwise 2 Pool attack in form of Mane and Salah, they will score against any team. Defence would rotate in almost every game. Pepe would become Son after next 2 and Mane/Salah may still become Sterling after New.

Last but not least, these front 3 are basically the ones I will rely on to give me points at least once in every 2 gw's.

    Thoughts on this?

    Captain? Salah or Sterling ??

I really want that thunder sterling against poor defence from Norwich
But home Salah choice is smarter?

    Tell me your point??

No one can really know which is best; City could batter that Norwich backline, but I'm going with Salah.

Reason being that he'll be better rested than Razza, has a great record at home, and Liverpool have so many different ways of breaking down Newcastle that I can see them scoring early on and opening up the Toon.
