    Ryan
    Digne Zinc Robbo VVD Lund
    Sterling Salah Siggy Mount Dendoncker
    Barnes Greenwood Pukki

    Thinking for this week:
    Siggy + VVD > Son + Soy
Gives me enough for next week:
    Barnes > Abraham.

    Sound plan? Anything more pressing?

Siggy is still a good pick

Consider wildcarding to redistribute the funds of that strong defence?

Would Pep dare to rest Sterling being 5 points adrift of Liverpool already? I would seriously doubt it to be honest! Sterling captain this week.

That's what Pep has to decide this weekend! Sure everyone thought they would beat Norwich easily and look what happened, another defeat here and it's game over..

Well it would be an 8 point gap which is a 3 game advantage...a considerable lead by any means and with City's defensive crisis ouch!

      Of course

Do you think he's going to carry on playing him until Liverpool draw or lose while resting KdB and Kun?

He may rest or play him but being 5 behind in week 5 will have absolutely zero to do with it

Being 5 behind has a lot do with it i would of thought, he can’t afford to let Liverpool slip further

You seriously think Pep is going to wait on Liverpool results before deciding his team? Is he going to take a draw as a sign that he can give Sterling a breather? Or will it take a loss? Or both.

            • 14 Years

How can he wait on Liverpools result when City play before Liverpool?
            Take what as a loss?
Their result won’t matter, if Liverpool win, he has to play strongest team, if they lose, he has to play strongest team to ensure the gap is closed. Why would Sterling need a 10 day breather? All roads lead to him starting.

By your logic Pep will not rotate at all before Liverpool lose one and draw one. He will abandon his plans and strategies for the season because a 5 point gap in 33 matches may be too much.

Or do you believe that Sterling is such a special case in real life as opposed to fantasy that he is absolutely immune to the 5 or so rotations he suffered last season. I don't recall City leading that one from first to last.

Sterling may play may not. Not bothered really. Just questioning your logic.

Don't agree with the logic tbh. It's not about 'being x pts behind' at all.

Not like city don't have a wealth of talent on the bench either. That being said, I still think he's a good chance to start. Just disagree with the logic behind why. Points wont dictate lineups.

I'd say it's 50:50 whether he'll be rested. Yes they need to win the game but their squad is more than good enough to beat Watford without him.

He's been playing far too wide for my liking for the last few games, but of course he could/should have scored in both. I've made the switch to Agüero for now to avoid this issue.

This is why, this season, I have just taken points hit to get rid of players losing value.

You can make 4 points up during the season easily enough but it's virtually impossible to make up lost player values.

      Got him yesterday.

I think he's worth a go with the fixtures ahead of them. Has attacking potential and you may get a cleanie or two out of him.

If not, you can always downgrade. It's not like there are any standout defensive choices out there at this early stage of the season.

Seems like managers are very restless so far this year, chasing last weeks points and having difficulties to find enough consistant points contributors among the big hitters.

Or is it the opposite - that there are too many big hitters performing, so therefore difficult to decide?

Selling Sterling because he might be rested one game seems a waste of a transfer for a player everybody will bring in again when he scores again, and are among the 3-4 players in the game that pretty sure will be competing to score most points over the season.

Also seems A bit hasty sellling Mount, who maby will be out for A match, maby not. Also A player everybody will buy back next week.

We all know what will happen and turn the fpl transfer market if Auba and Aguero blanks this week, and Sterling, kdb, Mane and Salah scored this week.

Some simplifications going on with your points:
      -A lot of people are WC-ing, hence more chat of Sterling out. He could be rested given 2 x 90 mins in a week, and he has blanked in 3 in a row, fact. So people will be getting cold feet. Sure, he could score a hat-trick this weekend;
      -Last week was a very poor week for many FFS managers. Lots of differentials hitting high scores. And, lots of captaincy fails recently, so managers are probably looking at their strategies and considering a more risky approach. Could be overthinking, or maybe the start of this season is about the slightly lesser obvious options;
-No one likes a flagged player in their team. It depends who they get in for Mount, and who their bench is. They could sell him for good reason.

All fair points, I also see them.

And see that you also agree that the season seems a bit unsettled and many managers still seems a bit like searching for the right big hitter options.

Maby the right prospects will arise this weekend, or maby not and we’ll have another week changing out our big hitters for Others.

And after writing this, I bet Pep will punish me benching Sterling 😉

I had 2FT and sold Raz and Greenwood for Cantwell and Aguero last night..

My reasoning being that Kun and Raz will score fairly similar points but Cantwell is clearly going to outs ore Greenwood at this point in the season.

Agree. Did Digne/Greenwood to Rico/Tammy for free. Know it could backfire, but think a forward line of Pukki, Haller, Tammy and Kdb+Sterling will make up for not having Kun or Auba.

Either of Kun or Sterling with KdB is fine.

Like you I'm looking at Barnes to Tammy next week and my front line then will be Kun, Tammy and Pukki.

              Keeping Digne for now.

Any thoughts on my WC team folks?

For me it boils down to 3 key players. No LIV mid or 2nd City attacker at this point:

    Pope / Button
    TAA / Otamendi / Lindelof / Soyuncu / Lundstram
    ?1? / KDB / ?2? / Cantwell / Hayden
    ?3? / Abraham / Pukki

Obviously there's lots of combinations involving Kun, Salah/Mane, Aubameyang, C Wilson, Haller, Son. I'm thinking of doing:

    ?1? = Salah
    ?2? = Richarlison
    ?3? = Aguero (c)
    0.0 ITB

    Because:
    -Son is overperforming
-Salah has the pens over Mane and will be up against CHE weaker left side this week compared with Mane
-Aubameyang does have great home fixtures and he's probably the hardest to leave out, but you cant have them all
-C Wilson seems to be back on home form, will possibly get him next week, see below
-Haller im not convinved by yet, again can't have them all
-The exist strategy of Kun+Richarlison > C Wilson (C) + Sterling is available next week with 0.1ITB if it all goes wrong

Yes, i only had a max of 3 to choose from.

His 1 high-scoring performance last week was 2 goals from an xGI of 0.29.

How would you get Son in?

        1. Grand Thibauto
          • 11 Years
          6 years, 9 months ago

I don't think xG of one week is a good estimator for Son's performance. If Son played 3000+ minutes a season, he would reach 220+ points every year.

Maybe. But equally you're judging that Son should be in based on just 2 games where he's returned. My Richarlison punt isn't based on much either, but he's affordable without having to remove well-owned MNU players who arent conceding many chances, and swapping Salah to Mane where Salah has much the higher xGI in total this season.

Son away at LEI too this week, LEI aren;t conceding many chances, i just dont think Son is essential at the moment

Said TAA because there are plenty of big hitter (c) options in Manes price range like Auba, kun, sterling or even son and KDB.

But TAA is head and shoulders above every defensive asset

    Button lundstram Diop greenwood

Worries are no aguero or auba but guess I can’t have them all! Appreciate any feedback

1,6 over budget, who would you downgrade?

    Pope
    TAA / Ward / Soy / Lund / Rico
    Sterling / Son / Mané / Mount / Cantwell
    Auba / Pukki / Abraham

    A) Son to Lamela
    B) Ster to KdB
    C) Auba to Wilson
    D) Mount to Hayden
    E) Other

A WC without Salah Sterling or Aguero too bad?

    Mane KDB Son Cantwell
    Auba Wilson Pukki

    With a good enough defence

    1. Grand Thibauto
      • 11 Years
      6 years, 9 months ago

Brave, should have gone with one of Aguero or Sterling considering their fixtures

      1. Weeb Kakashi

Have Auba though and getting Aguero for him makes me compromise either Otamendi or Go 433 with Cantwell>4.4

Could just go Sterling over Mane at least, hard to captain Mane in the coming fixtures

It's still a great front 7 but will periodically suffer when City win big. But you can't have them all and if you have three good defenders and a solid team you will have XI players who can bring quality points every week. Good luck.

Even if City do well Kdb will have his share. Cheers mate for the output.
Could have gone Aguero over Auba but it means i lose Otamendi or lose Cantwell>4.4 mid and play 433 every week.

Feel Otamendi gives good value at 5 .4 with some goal threat.

Auba has good home fixtures for captaincy.

If you want to see the difference between the Top 6 and the pretenders such as Wolves, Leicester, Everton then look no further than the EL results last night. Man Utd and Arsenal play the second teams and win. Wolves play the first team and lose.

The Top 6 know how to deal with the expectation of finishing in the Top 6. When Leicester or anyone else does it, then they act surprised and they mentally don't know how to cope with it.

Wolves were in the Championship the season before last. Sustaining league form and Europa League with their squad is a big ask.
