Gameweek 26 saw the finals of both the FFS Members Cup and the FFS Cup take place, with £600-worth of prizes on offer across the two competitions.

FFS CUP

The final of our first 2019/20 FFS Cup was an incredibly tight affair between AMEY and Philman, which ended 70-69 to the latter.

Having each played their second Wildcards in Gameweek 25, both managers opted to use their Bench Boost chips in Gameweek 26.

Ten of their 15-man squads were identical and the only transfer made between the pair of them – AMEY’s capture of Adrian Mariappa (£4.2m) at the expense of Charlie Taylor (£4.2m) – proved to be a significant one.

That’s because Mariappa was booked and put through his own net in Watford’s 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion, resulting in the budget defender’s third minus score of 2019/20.

Taylor’s Gameweek 26 score of two points, while modest, would have been enough to see AMEY over the line.

Both managers captained Mohamed Salah (£12.8m), with AMEY’s 13 points from Son Heung-min (£10.0m) offset by Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m)’s hauls for Philman.

In our third-place play-off, Mataatti edged out stamfordbridge 56-54, with the latter’s transfer of Enda Stevens (£5.1m) in for John Lundstram (£5.0m) proving costly.

FFS MEMBERS CUP

The final of the 2019/20 FFS Members Cup saw Just-In-Cider lose out 56-75 to Pep Pig in a clash between two managers who sat inside the top 10k at the point of the Gameweek 26 deadline.

Unlike the FFS Cup, there was no chip deployment from these two FPL bosses, with Just-In-Cider taking a four-point hit to bring in Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) and Jack Stephens (£4.4m) for Martin Montoya (£4.4m) and Lundstram.

Pep Pig’s only transfer saw Jack Grealish (£6.7m) replace Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.4m) but the hit for his opponent scarcely mattered given the margin of victory.

The two finalists shared only four players in Gameweek 26, although both captained Salah.

Son, Robertson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.2m) made a significant difference for Pep Pig, despite Just-In-Cider picking up points for Aubameyang and Grealish.

Becker Call Saul beat maxp1907 73-59 in our third/fourth-place play-off and moved back into the top 1k as a result.

Lundstram, Grealish and Calvert-Lewin were his key differentials in that clash.

Congratulations to all our winners, with the full prize breakdown below.

Cant find any good replacement for Son. Any recommends? Already have KdB, Salah, Grealish, and Hayden. Get maybe Traore or Bruno?

No easy replacement if you can’t afford Mane.

Lots of love for Pepe if you can ride out the blank in 28.

      Barnes is one I like.
Lucas will be playing up front for Spurs too if you want to stick with a Spurs player.

Maddi being Maddi, would get a 12 point haul as soon as you sell him... In the same boat as you mate, he has been lingering in my squad too long now.

What to do with Vardy and Maddison?

Leicester's fixtures are great after this GW, I want to hold but the lack of pts is really frustrating

Yeah, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t have thought the points difference between 400k and 200k is that extreme. Probably only a couple of correct captain picks.

      1. IRBOX ⚽
        • 8 Years

Top 10k easily. Template is the template for a reason

        1. ZimZalabim
          • 9 Years
          6 years, 8 days ago

but the template doesnt remain exactly the same through the season, but theoretically if u have Taa, Kdb, Mane, Salah, Grealish, Ings, Vardy, Henderson/Pope and some fillers through the course of the season u will easily get a top 10k but i dunno if u would have picked all of them from GW1

Well, I wouldn't say that I have been particularly maverick with my line ups and am currently on the 400K mark.

Besides, the template changes very often and you only have 1FT per gameweek. The only constants this season pretty much have only been TAA and KDB.

Yeah but that's what I mean if you were to make every FT and wildcard or hit based on the current 'template' without real differentials I wonder how high you could go. I think top 10k is probably doable but to get to the very top (1k) you need to take risks and get lucky

Don't know how doable that is as then you would get killed on hits and lost team value I reckon. Good brain teaser! Why don't you give it a go next season and let us know how it works out? 😀

I’ve been basically template all season and I’m 3k. I don’t understand the obsession with going maverick. Like people who sold TAA earlier in the season and KDB last week... it’s a quickfire way to fail.

It seems to be a thought process of ‘if he bangs, I’ll get a huge green arrow’ rather than thinking he actually will, and then forgetting that the guy being replaced was there for a reason and is likely to get a haul too.

Yeah I think its also a case of going with what's currently hot as opposed to sticking with quality/ original players, even if they hit a bad spell

Think if you had the template very week you'd do really well - the secret is to get on it fast and by limiting us to 1FT a week we can't quite keep up.

A couple of years ago when I finished top 500 ("humble" brag) I certainly made plenty of mistakes and I seem to remember SImon March or another previous winner saying how surprised they were that they had come top with a far from mistake free season so not sure you need huge differentials, just a bit of luck.

Yeah its difficult as it moves fast, I think part of the challenge is picking a strong core team from the start that goes on to form the basis of future 'templates'.

Luck also a big factor and picking the right captain, also knowing when to sell and when to hold big players

If template was definable in more objective terms, the question could be answered in more objective terms

As it is - "Template" is only really definable subjectively, therefore you will really only get subjective answers - which may not be a negative and can be quite interesting nonetheless

A bit like saying - who would win in a fight between a gorilla and five Kangaroos

Yeah the fixtures are good for the bench and I’ve no WC to get a DGW bench. Probably use my FH on a strong one off starting 11 for DGW instead

ya with no wc and if ur planning to use ur FH and have a plan for the doubles then its fine but u can probably work ur way with some fts and hits to get a good enough bench to get the base 16 points for bb in the double. Do u think ur bench will outscore 16 this week ?

      Hi guys
need some help here with what to do next

      Team is
      Hendo (4.0)
      Taa, Soy, Lund, Sidibe, Rico
      Salah, Kdb, Traore, Grealish, Dendo
      DCL, Vardy, Aguero

      2FTs and 1.4itb

      A. Aguero, Grealish, Lundstram - Ings, Mane, Boly -4 (will get Mcarthy in with 0.5 left itb in gw28)

      B. Aguero, Traore, Sidibe - Ings, Mane, Boly -4 (same as above but will have 10 for gw28)

      C. Aguero, Traore, Lund - Ings, Mane and Lascelles -4

Really unsure about how to do this.

I have 2 FT and 1.2m itb. Current team:

      Dubravka - Button
      VVD - Robertson - Baldock - Fernandez - Lascelles
      KDB - Salah - Grealish - Traore - Mooy
      Aguero - Ings - Jimenez

Had KDB all season, so he's staying. But looking to ship Aguero and potentially Grealish - which striker or mid would you get in?

it's pretty difficult at the moment as most teams/players with good form are hitting bad fixtures, and vice versa.. Harvey Barnes probably makes sense if you were going to ditch Grealish this week.. or Alli/Moura if you do it GW28

Yeah, you must have a good rank?

I almost burned one a few weeks ago, did McGovern to Button to save 0.1 instead, will switch him to McCarthy this week to avoid burning one this week...

Decent chance I'd say, Brucie dropped him and they got gubbed by Arsenal.

We got gubbed because he changed the formation in the second half to 442, not because we dropped Hayden

Toon fan and season ticket holder here. I would say 50%. Bentaleb is nailed, the other spot is up for grabs between Hayden and Sean/Matty Longstaff. Shelvey appears to be 5th choice.

If Hayden doesn't start is he likely to get subbed on again like in the last game?

Congrats to both winners and both runners up as well, £100 is nothing to be sniffed at 🙂 Feel sorry for Amey but gotta say it's hilarious that the final was decided by a minus score for Mariappa! I've been on both ends of the stick this season, won a H2H by 2 points a while back when opponent's AMN got -3 and proceeded to lose the next one myself due to Aurier's -2

      Salah KdB Son* Grealish Dendo
      Firmino Vardy Maupay

      0.0itb, 1ft

      Best combo for going forward:

      A) Son&Maupay for Maddison&Jimenez

      B) Son&Maupay for Martial&Jimenez

      C) Son&Maupay for Alli&Ings

      D) Son&Firmino to Mane&Ings

      All are for -4.

Difficult one as Perez could score with Leicester's upcoming fixtures. Not thought of doubling up?

FYI - I'm considering Barnes and Vardy by GW29 per the below.

Appreciate your comments guys - have 2 FT (NIL in the bank) and team's in good shape.

      Do I...

      A) Burn FT and change Grealish for Barnes next week (and likely take out Auba for Vardy)

      B) Barnes for Grealish this week and bench Barnes and play St Maximin

      C) Other

      Team is:

      Hendo McCarthy
      TAA Robbo Stephens (Fernandez, Taylor)
Traore Salah (C) KDB Grealish (St Maximin)
      Auba Jim Ings

      Cheers

      Morning everyone.
I’m going very well in a mini-league but my team is starting to be a bit over-stretched. Should I wildcard now - yours thoughts would be really appreciated:

      Gk: Henderson Button
Dec: TAA Soyuncu Lundstram Dunk Simpson
Mid: Mane KDB Son Martial Dendoncker
      For: Aubameyang Jiménez Martinelli

5 players currently in my squad are either permanently benched by their clubs or are not even selected for the bench.

Come blank gameweeks 28 & 31 you will need a deep bench if you want to score well. If you can make the changes via free transfers, do that.

Surely fatigue will impact their CS chances?
