Captain Poll

Liverpool options dominate the captain poll once again as Blank Gameweek 28 rolls around.

You can now cast your vote below or on the sidebar of the website.

Fresh from scoring in the 3-2 win over West Ham, Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) has raced into another early lead, already earning the support of 44.6%.

Upcoming opponents Watford have let their guard down a little since the new-manager-bounce of Nigel Pearson wore off.

In their last four matches, the Hornets have conceded at least two goals on three occasions, while Liverpool and Salah are in the scoring mood.

The Egyptian has found the net four times since Gameweek 24, more than any of his colleagues.

However, Sadio Mané (£12.3m), who netted against West Ham and could have scored a double-figure haul were it not for VAR, is also in the armband discussion.

The Senegalese international has more away goals in the league than Salah this season and has registered back-to-back strikes since returning from injury in Gameweek 26.

That has earned Mané 12.1% backing in the captain poll, good enough for third place so far.

However, Jamie Vardy (£9.7m) is the man to take up second place so far, as Leicester prepare to face Norwich.

Admittedly, the centre-forward has now blanked in each of his last five matches, but his backers appear to be encouraged by the prospect of the Canaries’ defence.

Despite some recent improvements Daniel Farke’s men were brushed aside 3-0 by Wolves in Gameweek 27, suggesting they could be just as obliging against Leicester.

Interesting differentials at this point include Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.7m), who still hasn’t blanked in a league match he started since Gameweek 13, while Harvey Barnes (£6.0m), despite his Gameweek 27 benching, could be the most likely to score for Leicester at Carrow Road.

Afternoon all, how is everyone shaping up for mini blank28?

I’ve got 11, but one of them is Greenwood.

Should I do Greenwood to DCL/Pukki.
Or O’Connell to Boly and start Greenwood but at least have bench cover.

    Full team

    McCarty (whu)
Trent (wat) Soyuncu (nor) Ogbonna (SOU) Taylor (new)
Salah and Mane (wat) Zaha (bha)
Jiminez (tot) Ings (whu) Greenwood (eve)

    Bench/blanks - KDB, O’Connell and Grealish

    1FT 2.7m.

Dropping Grealish can give you Bruno

From those moves, Greenwood to Dominic makes sense.

Tempting, hadn’t considered Bruno. But I love super Jack, think him and KdB are season keepers (got them both cheap).

I’m not going to lose someone with a guaranteed fixture this week, especially when Greenwood is my eleventh man, and I’d probably rate his chances of starting less than 50-50.

I’m also considering 31 fixtures, if Liverpool get knocked out of the FA cup, I’ll go without FH31, and Zaha would also play 31 in this scenario.

Also have 11 plus a sub including Greenwood starting and think i'm happy to roll with that and save my FT to give me more flexibility once GW31 blanks are known next gameweek - i figure the amount of ppl taking a hit for 28 should roughly even out any points loss if greenwood and another doesn't appear and the other 10 are relatively safe starters.

      1. ritzyd
        • 8 Years

I’m not expecting a great week to be honest, on paper it looks a weak team.
And I agree not much chance of a big points swing.

I just don’t like fielding less than 11 psychologically.

Will be playing mainly 433 with this. 442/5-back line works as well.

Grealish + Auba → Barnes + Vardy? You can get Auba back afterwards if you wanted to?

Do you want 11 players this gw or are you fine with 10? I think an auba to Vardy hokey cokey makes sense if you're fine with 10.

    2 frees

    Henderson (McCarthy)
    Trent Robbo Stevens (Taylor Lascelles)
    Salah KDB Traore Barnes (Grealish)
    Aguero Jimi Ings

    A) Aguero and Stevens to Vardy and Doherty, in view to do doing Vardy to Auba with the mitb next gw

    B) Just Aguero to Vardy, get aguero back the following gw

Can you wait a gw? Jota has been wildly inconsistent this season. Seems to do better in the 352, in your shoes I'd want to see how he does v Spurs first. If you can't then go for it, I see jota as having more upside than Deeney.

Just wondering what the general consensus is for everybody with all their chips left?

Obviously got the GW31 blank for majority of the big teams, which then is leading into a DGW34?

Are people using their FH for GW31, WC GW33, BB GW34 & TC GW37?

    1. HamezMace
      • 11 Years
      6 years, 3 days ago

      FH31 only if Liverpool blank.

      Otherwise FH first DGW (34)
      WC the following week
BB in the next DGW (37)

      TC already used.

At moment i'm on FH 31, WC into 33, BB 37 (already used TC)

This may change to WC into 32, FH 34, BB 37 depending on 5th round results

Just a quick one, regarding the use of WC.

Many say they plan to use their WC by 'this' or around 'that' GW.

Just wondering, what is that planning based on?

You need to do it the GW before the DGW so you can hit the BB button on the actual GW. Maybe that's why?

Plus those who still have WC, FH and BB, there may only be 2 DGW's.

I would probably use my FH for the (smaller) DGW 34, use the WC for GW36 and use the BB for the (bigger) DGW37

Unless something majorly wrong happens, then yeah - will WC for GW36. I am quite happy with my team at the moment so not much to wildcard to anyway.

For me going into GW 33 looks prime time - will know 34 blanks and who has doubles (even if date not known) by that point and there are a lot of fixture swings too i want to take advantage of.

I know im just saying i can comfortably field a solid BB GW34 team without a WC. I dont think i’ve ever gone in a GW with 15 full players with 2 games.

-4 for a keeper is unlikely to pay off.
You need a clean sheet for a 2pt net gain.

      1. Rolls-Royce
        • 12 Years

It is effectively -2 if no playing keeper.

          6 years, 3 days ago

Yes, so -2 is a realistic outcome. Maybe just -1 if you get some save points.

+2pts is the best case scenario.

Not worth the risk in my opinion.

No wc. Currently on Cantwell, Jimenez and DCL who plays gw31, plus 3 Liverpool players.

FH31 looks like reasonable but WOL/EVE(a.k.a. Rich and DCL)/BUR all have a good run until the end of season.

Maybe I should navigate GW31 with 8-9 players and save the FH for dgw?

    Possible gw31 lineup:
    -
    TAA Robbo Boly Taylor
    Salah Cantwell Rich
    Jimenez DCL
