In order to qualify for our assessment, we’ve limited the options to those who have played at least 800 minutes of the 2019/20 campaign.
Sell Traore or Perez?
Traore still has a few good fixtures but suddenly it seems like he's not nailed. Meanwhile Perez is still doing fairly well but the fixtures are getting tougher.

I'll start the bidding at 5. It's a just surviving by the skin of their teeth survival, and not at all pretty, but they could do it. I know you'll say 'in that case, why not 4?' at which point I will not have an answer.
I have a 5 year old at home in lockdown.
He'll be lucky to survive WITH the adults still alive.
He's got no chance if he's leading the way.
I reckon you'd need to go to 7/8 in order to ensure they can find food and prepare it for themselves.

Nah I think you need to think outside the box. The Western World has to be screwed for us to find a minimum age - no-one survices there. It'll have to be somewhere central African or Amazonian that has been relatively untouched by Western society, where the kids are forced to grow up fast and learn at a very young age how to avoid predators like lions, snakes and Pumpkinhead. It's places like that where the human race will have to restart.
True. Happy to concede that it's defo not a Western restart.
But I think you have to go older than 5 in your scenario too though - if we're talking outrunning predators - 5yo's are reeeeeeeeeeeeal slow!
Still we’re not talking about all 5 year olds surviving, but just enough for a diverse gene pool. If I remember correctly there was a toddler that got lost in the forest in France and survived for years

A 5 year old would need to survive a minimum of 8 years before they could start (at earliest) reproducing.
I'd say that's a big ask.
Either way - my initial stance was based on how bloody annoying my 5yo is at the moment.
Based on this morning's performance - he's more likely to survive this apocalypse than I am!!!

I have clashed with PH many times over the years but i have to say i admire him a lot as he speaks his mind and is not afraid to go against the grain.
Even though we wouldn't agree on everything, it is nice to see independent minded people like him here that are well able to argue their case and take no **** from anyone lying down.

In the bronze age and iron age they reckon life expectancy was around 26 years so the number you are looking for has to be lower than that i think.
I am going to take a guess and say 20 years of age as maybe human repudiation rate might be able to just about sustain itself at that age.
If some unlikely scenario like this were ever to happen then it would almost certainly mean a new dark age and would set human development back to the stone age before long imo.
Hmmm, maybe not above a certain age, more between certain ages.
I'd go for between 16 & 35.
That should give the world a good jumpstart and get rid of the nogood deadwood.

Even if that is the plan I'd very much doubt it will happen now. They have released the restrictions far to much, we will be back in full lockdown with more Coronavirus cases than ever by then (including players etc).
There were hundreds of people out round the North East coast this morning. Appreciate it's all allowed now, but given what we've been through for the last 7/8 weeks, it's an uncomfortable sight on your doorstep.
my vfpl wc doubled the score I'd have got if not seen on here that we get 2 wc's, nice. Bench boosting now. Traore bit of a worry but no spare cash so think would rather have 2ft next gw even if he gets 0.

bored at work today.... been thinking about the best solution for the covoid situation. thoughts on the below?
- Postpone completion of 19/20 season to Aug 2020 / when next season was scheduled to start
- Complete current season / play remaining games
- Play a reduced 20/21 season where:
1) Each team in the league plays each other once
2) The table then gets split into a top half and bottom half / two separate divisions / the top 10 and bottom 10 are ‘fixed’
3) The teams in each half play each other for a second time (points from first half of the season carry over)
This would result in a season 28 games long, which would compensate for the additional 10 games required next season
Cups competitions from this season are also completed at the start of next season, and reduced formats are ran next season
Transfer windows stay open all year round next season (to help team who are relegated / promoted after completion of 19/20 season)
I hate anything involving splitting leagues. The Scottish league system is a load of ballsack.
Its true - it's not ideal, but between voiding this season and shortening next season i think the best solution would be the latter.
and i can't see how they are going to fit an extra 15 games per team in the current calendar...
Depends on your view really. I'd rather void this season than also compromise next season. No point ruining the integrity of 2 seasons when we could just do it for.

I just fear that the amount of litigation from voiding the season could be a nightmare!
I am dead against any plan that would also compromise next season too.
Just take it as a given that this season is ruined already they should try as best they can to make sure next season has every chance of being completed.
If anything they should just forget about this season and try and start next season as early as possible (maybe early August) so as to account for that there might be some postponements next season too and give them some chance to finish it before the European Cup next summer.
This kind of logic seems to be absent at these nauseating PL meetings unfortunately.

Exactly the way I see it. I know I'm biased being a Villa fan, but I'm trying to think with logic rather than just saving Villa.
No matter what happens, this current season has lost all integrity. It simply cannot be resumed in a way fair to all.
If they simply start with next season they can put relevant rules in place that everyone knows in advance and has no choice but to accept.
Though I am surprised there wasn't already something in place for a situation like this.

As a pool fan I obviously disagree. We won the league this season no matter what. And that is impressive because "no matter what" happened and we were still so good every team agrees we deserve it. This consensus would not have been reached in any other season. I am proud to be the rightful winners of the 2019/2020 premier league.

Void won't happen but liverpool dont need to place their boots anyway. Even if we didn't show up city would need to win near every game to pass us. In other words we could go on vacation now and still win the league while city try to overhaul us. That's how over this thing is.

Agreed rhino. Hoping the season is voided is also clutching at straws for 2 big reasons:
1. There is too much money at stake to not finish season
But the bigger reason is this
2. If the season cannot be restarted then we are in big trouble long term. We have to find a way to play football with this virus or football is gone until the virus is gone. It is nonsensical to void a season because of a virus and start another one while the virus is still here. Best case scenario is 12 to 18 months if everything goes well. Some viruses still dont have a vaccine and they have been trying for years.

Wake up people! The virus will be with us at least until early next year and most likely longer. If we void this current season how can you possibly fathom starting a new one while we have a virus. You have created a precedent. No football during virus. End of.
I think there is a lot of naivety about hoping we magically come through this in a few months. Our best bet is a vaccine early next year and that is at best hopeful. It is possible we live with this for years and it affects multiple seasons.

More don’t though. The integrity of next season is damaged if everyone has to pretend this one didn’t happen. Every effort should be made to finish what was started first I think that’s pretty obvious to anyone looking at it from a neutral point of view.

There's no point entertaining the null and void brigade, it's been taken off the table by PL and FA this week.
Some are genuinely concerned and that's a fine topic for discussion, but most simply have their own team interests at heart.

Nothing is off the table once the legal battles start, void could still end up being the least worst option. The point of not affecting next season isn't that the virus won't be an issue it's that a set of laws can be drawn up that clubs agree to which will make contingency plans a lot easier to deal with
Sounds like you have some serious anti Liverpool issues then. I don’t want them to win it either but they do deserve it at the end of the day. Imagine this years first game pool v Norwich is the opener again one of them should have been relegated one should have been champions but we all have to pretend it didn’t happen that would be a sad way to get our game back. If it can be finished it should be for the integrity of our sport. But the PL have clearly recognised that anyway.

If the PL restart doesn't happen, there is no reason next season should be played either. You either take as much precaution as possible and restart or you don't play at all until a vaccine is found. Virus is not just going to disappear.
Point of the lockdown was to get through the peak. If they decide that it's still too risky, it's perfectly fine, clubs/players shouldn't be forced to play, but they need to understand that things won't drastically improve in the coming months either.

In other words, start and manage risk.

Taking away any bias i have i would much rather have a full season than 9 gameweeks. I think you would all regret your choice eventually if you chose different
