We at Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ll be renewing our partnership with FanTeam for the 2020/21 season.

FanTeam is Europe’s biggest daily Fantasy sports platform and they offer the chance for Fantasy managers to earn cash from their expertise.

With Fantasy games in hockey, basketball, baseball and MMA – among others – covered, there’s plenty of money-making opportunities for those in the know.

Fantasy Football is what many of us love, of course, and while we twiddle our thumbs waiting for Fantasy Premier League, Sky Fantasy Football and the like to relaunch, there is profit to be made with FanTeam.

There’s a share of €25k to be won in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final between Manchester City and Lyon, while there’s €15k on offer in the UEFA Europa League semi-final clash between Manchester United and Sevilla.

And there’s one FanTeam game in particular that is really catching our eye…

Next season, FanTeam are offering a staggering prize pool of €1,000,000 for their season-long Premier League Fantasy game, with €200,000 going to the winner.

There are prizes all the way down to 5,659th place, with those finishing 51st or above raking in at least €1,000.

Entries cost just €25, a sum that many of us will readily fork out in our Fantasy Premier League mini-leagues.

Even better: the game rules and scoring system are very similar to FPL, so skills – and teams – are easily transferred from one game to the other.

We’ll be back over the coming weeks with a series of articles on FanTeam’s million-euro cash game, delving deeper into the rules, player prices, fixture list and strategy.

Until then, head over to FanTeam and start tinkering with your team. As is the case in FPL, unlimited transfers are allowed before Gameweek 1 and the player prices don’t change until the season is underway.

      Ye played it last year.

I prefer the rules in terms of no chips apart from wildcards.

Their interface sucks though, very clunky and ugly.

I played season game with three teams, only got back 100 from 60 but the extra point for winning 'impact' didnt click for me straight off. Really hard to win big competitions as even at 25 a pop you see several people putting 15, 20, 30 teams+ in at a time covering loads of options. I did win 4300 euros on one daily game though with only two teams so worth it over the season but it was a bit last gasp for my liking but some damn good prizes and since yahoo, mondogoal, playon etc went away or got rubbish there arent many big paid games out there now other than paddy power and draftkings (i cant get to grips with DK at all) , pretty easy to play and updates quickly. There are 2 euro games for practice and prize pools for those arent horrendous
You can pretty much play your fpl team give or take so easy to keep up if only playing one team season, some slightly odd pricing but you dont lose player values buying and selling, you get wildcards but no chips, can take hits etc

Haha yeah course. Its not too much of an outlay though. Id probably just play one team this year, see how it goes, maybe play a few next year

I put the €25 euros in last season to do the full league, planned on just following the same team as my fpl team but that went a bit to pot towards the end. Anyway, with the sign up bonus they offered at the start I entered a one game thing and came first for about €100 back from €1. Then won a weekly monster thing for €400 from €1. So have been pretty lucky, picked up the odd placing here and there since, however the numbers do seem to be increasing and the odds of getting a high place finish seem to be getting harder.

but do remember in the season game, the main differences from normal fpl, no bonus points, 1 pt for winning. -1 for losing. 1 pt for mid/fwd playing 90 mins. No value loss on selling players.

Yeah I’m giving it a shot. The dodgiest part is multiple entries. Some people have 100 teams.

Why not? Huge prizes to be won. Scoring is very similar to FPL so a similar team in both could work.

I would only play if multiple teams was illegal. Not wasting my money playing against people with a hundred teams covering tons of possibilities

that is a big thing especially for daily ones, but you only have to get it right once and its worth it, but sucks to see some of them with pages of teams - but prizes would be nowhere near as high without them so necessary evil i guess

Does multiple teams really matter? You are playing against 74999 teams anyway, who cares who the owner is. Sure they can choose different captains etc but over the course of a season they will not be able to manipulate multiple teams to your disadvantage

UEFA got rid of the rule that a loanee can't play against their parent club a few seasons ago.

Remember when Courtois was playing for Atletico Madrid against Chelsea and Atletico made it through with Courtois making a number of saves.

The season is 38 GWs. After the first 4 weeks maybe he has some teams ahead, but half will be useless, and without the time to dedicate to each one, a strong manager with a single focus can overcome it.

            • 16 Years
            6 years, 11 days ago

I think you're underestimating the edge multiple teams gives. It's why it's so frowned upon in FPL.

I think you're overestimating it. It gives an advantage, sure. But I think in terms of winning the whole thing, you'd need to make close to 500 teams to cover the probabilities as well as you think.

It's like reentries in a poker tournament. And furthermore, you increase your own risk. If you have a ton of teams, you also need to make sure you have at least one high scoring cash.

              1. Reedy
                • 16 Years
                6 years, 11 days ago

It's not a strategy that I'd entertain. I agree, it's too risky. But people will do it...and that makes it harder for the rest of us.

You're right that you'd likely need more teams than he has to (practically) guarantee victory, but he's still got more tickets in the lottery. He's still more likely to hit that combination of skill and luck that's required.

Camzy, you know that they allow late entry, for a certain percent points for the average score. I have been thinking about this, would you think it may be best to wait til week 3 to buy in, get 70% of the average (which should be mainly be beefed up by teams that have players that have played) and then have a free wildcard, saving the wildcard most ppl will use for later in the season??

      2. Blueberg
        • 11 Years
        6 years, 11 days ago

exactly this. He will be paying in €2500 in the hope of getting an overall profit, but he would need to make it a full time job to co ordinate all those teams close to half the dedication and concentration that you or i put in to one team.

    2. ash and swanson inc
      • 12 Years

2500?? serious commitment, all that changing and picking captains good lordy...evil part of me hopes most suck the proverbial. last year they had buy one get one team free for very short time he would be kicking himself/herself if they do that again...

Yeah it happens in these big money games with no entry cap. It's basically Fanduel. I much preferred FantasyBet, hope it makes a comeback.

          • 12 Years
          6 years, 11 days ago

i used to love fanduel I had forgot that one, and yahoo, never did brilliantly at fantasybet but ticked over - nice and simple shame it went enjoyed those flash ones where you got 2 mins to pick a team or whatever, perhaps a betting site will take it over or something. shows how hard it is in the UK market to make it work, surprised with like 7m in the barclays one i know free but shows the interest in the fantasy genre

            • 16 Years

Yes the flash games were fun. But the main thing I liked about it is they capped entries to 10, eventually opened it up to 15. That meant the good players always had a chance; not just the wealthy ones.
