Fantasy Premier League managers will have to entirely re-think how best to invest in Manchester United’s attack for the 2020/21 season.

The game-makers at FPL Towers have wielded their position-changing axe and reclassified no fewer than three key Red Devil assets for the new campaign.

Marcus Rashford (£9.5m) and Mason Greenwood (£7.5m) have been converted into midfielders to reflect their roles on the flanks of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking midfield trio, while Anthony Martial (£9.0m) has moved into the forwards bracket.

Fernandes haul raises the bar for top 10k's most popular captain Salah

These changes are sure to impact squad selection for the new season, but could also affect the appeal of Bruno Fernandes (£10.5m) who has remained a midfielder.

To fully assess which of the Manchester United attackers appeal the most for 2020/21, we have pulled out some key statistics from Project Restart, the only time that Fernandes, Rashford, Greenwood and Martial started matches consistently at the same time.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

Which United attacker was in the penalty box most often?

Thoughts on Ziyech? Haven’t seen him mentioned much, but put him in my initial team as I figure he could be quite good for only 8.0... cheaper than Werner and could take set pieces now Willian is gone!

    Also Tierney?

Both great options especially Tierney. I will wait and give 5 games to Ziyech first before considering him

Yeah I’m quite tempted, Tierney finished really strongly. Could be smart with Ziyech, though would love to be early on the bandwagon that will surely take off at some point.

Ziyech seems like a baller and Tierney although he’s brilliant, I probably won’t go for especially with Saliba at 4.5 and Martinez maybe too if he starts at 4.5

He’s better than all the centre backs we have, and if we play 3 at the back then he starts.

Somebody said it on the previous page...

But Kun really could be a helluva useful player now at 10.5 if he’s back

You could get treble City, treble pool, double United for example:

    McCarthy
    TAA, Robbo, VVD, Laporte
    KDB, Bruno, Greenwood, Soucek
    Kun, Mitro
    (4.0, Taylor, 4.5, 4.5)

Granted Soucek & Mitro May not be pulling up any trees... but could still do a job!

        Yeah always a risk...But

        (a) you actually get loads of their attack with those 3 defenders 🙂

        And

        (B) KDB & Bruno should probably get similar points to Mané & Salah... And that’s saying something given the prices

On an overll points basis, that’s correct but my issue with that approach is the lack of flexibility. Many will have Salah but they willl also have KDB and Bruno for the easier fixtures and vice versa.

With the 3 defenders, you don’t have the option to switch to Salah/Mane when Liverpool has the best fixture and thus they are the best captain candidates. Of course you could captain TAA/Robbo instead but then it becomes a high risk/high reward approach.

          1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

I swapped to 3 pool defs around Christmas & it honestly was a big contributor to saving my season (2m OR GW8, 8k GW38)

I just never bought the whole “OMG but you need one of Salah/Mané thing” - not that they’re bad of course - they are superb.... But they definitely do share returns now where Salah used to monopolise them

And there’s always more than one way to skin the cat - particularly when you’ve cheaper players like Bruno & KDB on the scene now

You’re right that looks lovely as well

        As does Pulisic/Martial +0.5

1.0 short of Rashford/Werner though - which seems a little odd compared to Puli/Tony....

But two very useful slots there no doubt - liking 4-4-2

We need to start with all of them imo. If one of them explodes and you don't have him you will be playing chasing game whole season.

Worked like charm for top 4K last year especially with Sterling captain in GW 1.

You have to have great start to get the most chance for high end of season rankings.

If some of them is not performing 2 FT and I can easily redistribute the cash.

        Agree.?

Not my playing style. I like all my starting XI to have a chance of hauling. With multiple premiums you can only captain one, and if another 'explodes' you just get him in and dump a damp squib.

He will start every game that he’s fit, the question lies in what position will he start? Haller won’t sit on the bench as he’s the top earner & record signing, it could see Antonio out on the wing again but all West Ham fans want to see Antonio playing off Haller, it could work wonders but I can’t see Moyes running with two up top unfortunately.

Pogba compared to Greenwood v Bruno v Rashford?

Helluva lot cheaper than the latter 2, more nailed than the Greenwood and a quality player. Fit again, could be gold? Or too defensive

I need to watch games to be sure he is in beast mode again.

Bruno Greenwood Rash Martial AWB Pogba for me. In that order

Assuming Greenwood isn't nailed, that still leaves Pogba as the fourth best United attacking option. Might as well go for someone from another team at that point.

    What's so great about Soucek?
Doesn't he play in a double pivot?
Is it underlying stats? Set pieces? Eye test? Or just that he scored 3 goals?
Sounds similar to Jonjo....Not a terrible pick, but......

Plus eye test. He also had a couple of goals disallowed (VAR?...one was definitely against Spurs) and was meeting the ball at the back stick consistently. I had him in at the end of last season so he's definitely going in now.

Don't know. I'm currently on Martinez + Nyland as the latter is 4m and will start while Heaton is injured. It will give me time to ditch M for another 4.5 if Leno starts.

Il’d rather us keep Martinez if we had to keep one as he’s more comfortable on the ball and has been at Arsenal for 10 years. Big Wengz told him he would start for us one day, and to not leave, Big Wengz has done it again,

I might make some minor changes but think im for the most part going to go with this:

    Pope - (Nyland)
    TAA - Vinagre - Ayling - Taylor - (Walker-Peters)
    Salah - KDB - Bruno - Soucek - (Gordon)
    Jiminez - Ings - (Wickham)

All I really want is Pope, TAA, KDB, Salah, Bruno, Jimi, Ings. Everyone else is fodder, but i'll switch formation around as and when needed. Not going to try and not move off those 7 for the season, unless injured.

Looking decent up until Wickham, but there are no 4.5 forwards. If Taylor loses his place to Pieters you could find yourself with a dead bench.

      1. have you seen cyan
        • 7 Years

Yea Wickham sucks, I figure he is the most like 4.5 FWD to get any mins?
Walker-Peters on my bench tho which isnt bad, and hopefully Gordon comes good.

I had a version with Mitro, but my bench was totally dead in the water, and McCarthy instead of Pope.
Saying that, I just did Pope>Lloris as jsut realised I have Taylor xD

Don't think Wickham will get many mins. KWP will start, it's the Burnley LB spot I'm unsure about. Scaling down the keeper could get you Mee or Tarky if you wanted Burnley.

A first glance seems like loads of good options in DEF at $4.5m. Burnley defenders, Lecister full backs, Leeds fullbacks, Vinagre etc.
Think I'll go 2 Pool with 3x$4.5m options and play 4 at the back (most weeks)

15 teams represented and you can put together a highly competitive squad. This is very close to what I’m considering. Other variations possible too with Chelsea, SU, Fulham in the playing eleven

    McCarthy
    TAA Vinagre Taylor Dallas
    KdB Auba Son Soucek
    Martial Vardy

    Ryan Mitchell Gordon Davis
