As we gear up for the start of the 2020/21 season, we at Fantasy Football Scout are frantically working behind the scenes to make improvements for our site users and subscribers.

We have a number of exciting developments in the pipeline but we’ll need an additional body to help us roll out the changes we have planned.

This time we are looking for someone to take on a full-time tech-based role.

We want a front-end web developer with experience capturing requirements and delivering projects.

We are looking for the following skills from our candidates:

FRONT-END

  • HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Sass
  • React
  • jQuery
  • Bootstrap
  • AJAX

EXPERIENCE

  • BSC Computer Science or related 2.1 min
  • Two years minimum commercial experience

We mostly work remotely but, on occasion, we like to get together in person – so if you are based in/around London (or able to work there now and again), that would be beneficial.

However, those that work outside of London should most definitely still apply. Talent is more important to us than postcode!

Flexibility of hours is also preferable.

Based on past experience with our job adverts, we need to stress that it may take a little time to look through and respond to applications.

If you want to get involved with the next chapter of the site, please drop us a line with your CV at jobs@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Has anyone been able to make a 7 PK taker lineup?

    Something that has like:

Salah, KdB, Fernandes, Werner, Mitro, Antonio, ???

Pretty sure Noble said Antonio only took the pen because they had an agreement if he reached X amount of goals.

Yep. Also I’d expect Haller to be on pens if noble is finally eased out of the starting XI. He’s a guaranteed 2/10 every game

Not sure Antonio is on pens. Think he took that one vs United to secure a minimum goal bonus for the season.

Finally arrived on a first draft I'm happy with. Big hitters in defence and midfield, then a spread of price points.

    McCarthy, 4.0
    TAA, Robertson, C.Taylor, Vinagre, 4.0
    Salah, Sterling, Bruno, ASM, Soucek
    Jimenez, Antonio, 4.5

I haven't even made a proper team yet really, don't see the point until fixtures are out, that's time that could be wasted on Football Manager or staring at a wall.

            1. Rogue Todd
              • 11 Years
              6 years, 13 days ago

Being serious for a moment, the risk is people have invested so much in these pre-fixtures teams there is a good chance they will be reluctant to change much when the fixtures do come out.

It's an interesting one, because some managers go on form over fixtures.

With a relatively short turnaround between the seasons (and evidence that players are carrying form forward in the European games), there is an argument that players might carry their post-lockdown form into the beginning of next year. Not sure how many teams and managers are going to shake-up their line-ups, tactics or game plans that dramatically with such a short pre-season.

My draft has 9 starters from the top 3 sides, so I'd call that somewhat fixture-proof.

Then what happens if someone like Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea have something like Fulham, Villa and West Brom as their first 3 games? Stubbornness is a killer in FPL.

Has anybody delved into Soucek's stats in a little more detail?

Over the last 6 matches, Soucek had:
    - 2 Goals
    - 3 Big Chances
    - 15 Goal Attempts
    - A Goal Attempt In The Box every 45 minutes

These stats put him alongside the likes of Mane, Son and Pulisic.

Depending on West Ham's opening fixtures, he could genuinely be a starting enabler option at 5.0.

Hello, welcome the new season. First attempt to get a ‘balance’ team, what do ya think?

    Ryan (Button)
    TAA Vinagre Taylor (WPieters Saliba)
    KDB Mane/Salah Bruno Moutinho (Soucek)
    Werner Adams Mitrovic

    Soucek/Adams/Mitrovic to be rotated

    no love for Auba?

wonder if a Rice transfer messes up the Soucek threat? Were most of his chances headers from corners or is he getting off other shots too?

He's all about set pieces i think

      1. Ze_Austin

...which, as people do not realise, increase when your team is trying everything to survive relegation

Hopeful long balls and relentless attack leading to deadballs (free kicks and corners), leading to more set piece goals... And Soucek is tall

Normal West Ham under Moyes is expected to revert to type, and that leaves you with a 5.0m starter and no replacement... Like when a certain Cantwell went off the boil last season

This can be fixed with transfers, yes. But my main issue is that I don't expect West Ham to start with lots of set pieces, as that takes motivation

Antonio, at least, has personal motivation and more routed to points from open play

        1. Ask Yourself
          • 10 Years

This is good. Agree completely except Antonio’s motivation. His second touch is always a tackle unless we are fighting for survival

I think there could be more to him than this.

          https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tomas-soucek/leistungsdaten/spieler/283628

          19/20 - 15 goals and 3 assists in 39 appearances
          18/19 - 18 goals and 9 assists in 49 appearances

Seems to show that he can get involved in goal contributions.

I usually opt for a combination of the two. Two premium defenders and a pair of rotating defenders. I may start the season with 3 premium and a pair of two rotating defenders.

Baby Brandon, Mitchell, C. Taylor, Pieters, and Justin are on my watchlist barring fixture rotation and recovery times.

    McCarthy
    TAA Saliba Vinagre
    Salah KDB Fernandes Greenwood Soucek
    Werner Mitrovic

    Button Taylor Ferguson Wickham

    feels solid enough?

He will start. If not, Mari is also 4.5m. Point is, you can get an Arsenal defensive starter for 4.5m this season. Community Shield will let us know.

38 Games with 12 players incl captain =456
    Bench Boost = 4
    T Captain = 1
    Total players 461
    Points target Top 10k last year = 2 275
    Points per player = 4.93

Not what I said old chap.
The aim is 60 points per week with all that included.
If you get 60 points per week, you will, if fairly alike to last year, get into the top 10K

It can be done if half your squad are 4.5s. A back 5 of 4.5 defenders is not a terrible idea.

      I wanna see gameweek 1 draw, but ;

Cassila (If Leeds switch, then so do I)
TAA, Doherty, Alonso (specy first week)
Fernandes, Son, Perez (specy first week), McNeil
      Vardy, Jimenez, Wood

      Ryan
Ayling (nailed on to cover specy)
      Pieters
Shelvey (nailed on to cover specy)

Will need to juggle a mid big boy in once fixtures are released.

Som questions i have right now.

    Best goalkeeper option?

    Best defenders for 4,5?

Any 4,0 defenders that's gonna be regular starters?

    Salah or Aubayemang?

Which players are we monitoring to improve most from last seasons score?
I am thinking about Naby Keita and Almiron as good punts.

On a list - with some other Southampton assets; KWP Adams and perhaps Redmond too

Had Southampton to be right up there last season but they flopped so badly early on. Thinking much the same this time. Take a from table from around Xmas on and they're way up there. This is not just post lockdown form.

Form that is just post lockdown Im wary of partly because end of season always has a slightly strange dynamic with certain teams overperforming through need and others beached. Also add in 5 subs and very unusual fixture schedule and there's a possibility that we had circs that won't be repeated.

gonna start with a more expensive defence for the first time ever, gonna be fuming if this is the year all the obvious 4.5s are actually good - they usually look so but end up being mostly garbage, 1 / 2 point fest

    1. Holmes
      • 12 Years
      6 years, 13 days ago

I think a combo of both gives better chance of success.

Something like 2 of Trent, Robertson, Van Dijk, Doherty, Laporte and couple of 5-4.5 players feels much safer. (In back 4 team)

      1. JonGTFC
        • 9 Years

Same. I'd add Pereira to the top tier as well when fit

yeah sounds good - I usually go dirt cheap, mainly fixture based - most of them end up being terrible. There looks to be some good 4.5s this year but I'm trying not to get sucked in

        1. Ser Davos
          • 11 Years
          6 years, 13 days ago

          I'm on the same wavelength.

Keep being tempted by treble Pool, but TAA and VVD/Robbo allows for Salah/Mane flexibility captaincy. A must I think

Doherty looks great and a double up with Vinagre is on the cards. Otherwise, I'm in the cheapie market. The likes of Laporte and Tierney could be very good.

          1. SADIO SANÉ
            • 11 Years
            6 years, 13 days ago

yep plenty of nice more expensive options. think Vinagre/Taylor/Dallas/Ayling all look pretty good - I'd usually just get those 4 and TAA or something but that usually doesn't work too well for me, would be classic if it does this time

    So,template dilemma here seems:
    A) Ziyech + Antonio/wood
    Or,
    B) Werner + soucek

    Not much difference?
    Totally luck ?

    1. JonGTFC

My take is this just looking at Chelsea assets.

Ziyech only works if Werner works - a bit on the Fraser Wilson model. Ziyech's direct threat isn't all that reading the article on him.

Werner however will be less reliant on Ziyech as there'll be other service he gets. Less risk going that way?

Also in principle prefer to have Soucek as an asset that can be benched down the line if he''s duff. Antonio Wood would require transfer to another unpredictable asset.

    Pope
    Dunk/ReeseJames/Egan
    KDB/Salah/Aubamayang/Foden/Greenwood
    Antonio/Mintro
    Bench - Bamford/Douglas/Fergoson

Thoughts? Fancy squeezing Soucek in there...

Chris Wood is a potential transfer target for NUFC {apparently} he's in the last year of his contract so Burnley could be tempted to sell/part ex, a big stumbling block will likely be that Burnley will still actually want a fee.

Wanna judge a squad with no Liverpool players and no defenders over 4.5? Here you go:

    McCarthy, Nyland
    Vinagre, Saliba, Williams, Lowton, KWP
    Auba, KDB, Sterling, Bruno, Soucek
    Werner, 4.5, 4.5

TAA is the most valuable asset in the game, and you have no diversification of funds. You can only captain one of your big hitters and having four is at the total detriment to the rest of your squad
