Harry Kane‘s (£10.5m) end to the 2019/20 season suggests he could be the key asset for those looking to tap into Spurs’ appealing fixtures this time around.

Jose Mourinho’s men sit second on the Season Ticker for attacking potential over the first six Gameweeks, based on their opponents.

During this period they host Everton, Newcastle and West Ham while they’re road trips take them to Southampton, Manchester United and Burnley.

Spurs players had not appeared in too many Fantasy Premier League drafts before Thursday’s fixture release, but now that we know the schedules, Mourinho’s charges have become more popular.

As Fantasy managers search for the best way to invest in Spurs’ attack, Son Heung-min (£9.0m) and Kane are the front-runners, currently sat in 18% and 14.5% of squads respectively.

Ahead of the new season, we have compared how these two attackers performed during Project Restart. As this uses Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription can access it in full.

What were Son and Kane’s average positions?

I think everyone should be thinking about doubling up or even trebling up on premium attackers (£8.5m+). I really like some of the options in this bracket and think you can find value in a lot of them. Just a quick run through them.

Kane, £10.5m - The general consensus that you cant own Kane under Jose is rubbish. 13 goals in his 17 starts under him. That would be a 29 goal season if he started every PL game. Not saying he will of course, but you have to remember he had not played in 6 months before his return after lockdown. The fixtures are great imo, with games against Newcastle, West Ham, West Brom and Brighton in the first 8. I think I prefer saving £1.5m in Kane than Salah given the fixtures and Kane's form under Mourinho

Vardy, £10m - Wow. Those fixtures. Imo, he is almost essential. Opener against West Brom and home games against Burnley, Villa & West Ham just in the first 5. All of those games are hat-trick possible for the golden-boot winner and I think he is being massively overlooked due to Leicester's poor run of form at the end of the season. I think they will rediscover some of their early season success given their kind fixture run. Vardy can help with that against leaky defences.

Werner, £9.5m - More great fixtures for Chelsea. They have a very nice first 5. Werner had a great goalscoring record in Germany and if he can hi the ground running he will be essential whilst being underpriced imo

Martial, £9.0m - Another one being overlooked due to GW1 blank but Martial is the Man Utd attacker I like the most. I think he has been massively underpriced and I think he is worth the £1.5m less than Bruno. Managed 6G and 4As after the restart. That was exactly the same record as Bruno. Given that most Bruno's goals come from penalties, I think Man Utd's penalty tally is unsustainable and I don't think they will get such the amount they got this year. I expect Martial to do better than Bruno in terms of scoring goals so the only real difference is Bruno getting 1 point for clean sheet. Martial sets up his teammates a lot as well so you aren't just reliant on goals. I also think Martial is worth getting over Rashford, and I think I would still have him even if he was priced more than the Mancunian.

Ings, £8.5m - Tbh I do think Ings is one of the worst options on this list, but that just compliments the other forwards. I expect him still to score 15+ given he stays injury free, and he is the focal point in an improving Saints' side who I have high hopes for. Decent fixtures from the off as well.

Jimenez, £8.5m - Mr Reliable. Absolutely brilliant fixtures from GW3. Not much to explain here, just expect lots of 9 pointers!

I really like all of these options and prefer them to midfielders of the same price. Mahrez is a rotation doubt and Pulisic is injured. Son was playing deep after lockdown, with worse numbers than Kane. Also Son doesn't traditionally start well. Rashford is a decent option at £9.5m, although goals dried up after lockdown and he has now lost penalty duties.

It's all subjective - you need to compare the forwards to equivalent midfielders, and factor in captaincy decisions, e.g. Salah/KDB can be perma caps

Kane needs time to get going so I’m steering clear until he gets going. Vardy was poor last year even when Leicester were playing well before lockdown. I’m going with Werner and if he doesn’t do well it’s an easy switch to Martial GW2

You can match premium forwards by switching in and out cheap forwards like mitro, Antonio, wood, Adams based on fixtures and form. You can't outscore premium mids like Salah, auba, kdb. Those 3 are the priority with a good defense for me

      You missed kun.
Like the idea, will consider this. Not having salah is scary though & hard to fit salah auba taa & premium fwd without breaking the team.

Fixtures have fallen in their favour, and almost all of them don't have counterparts in midfield, they are the main man in their teams.

I have Kane, Jimenez and Mitrovic at the moment. I would like to upragrade Mitrovic, but that will compromise the big two in midfield.

Kane could be Werner or Vardy. I still haven't decided. I like Jimenez's and Mitro's fixtures mid term and I think with them I need minimal transfers in the front three.

      Like it

You left out one who doesn’t make gameweek 1 but who is the most explosive of the lot.

One reason I might go Kane early is he chance of Kun when fit.

Jim a lick for me - the others rotate in and out. Haven’t written off idea of a 3 with Ings

yes i completely agree that you need at least 2 slots available for these strikers. just too many good options (and you forgot Aguero!!).
in my ghost team, ive gone with 3 (werner, martial, jimmy)
in my real team martial and ings are my preferred pick for the early part of the season, Kane is tempting as well (particularly wk5-8) but probably needs a budget enabler to emerge elsewhere to make it happen.

Not sure how it works. Any City and Utd player's price locked before GW2 as they blank GW1?

If not, do you think there's a chance KDB or Bruno price not going up before GW2?

If they rise in price rather than fall- well that’s a great chance for FPL towers to mess with us.

Haven’t thought about their price fluctuation until now. Certainly interesting

For example (Auba + Son + 1m ITB) -> (KDB + Bruno) after GW2 is not going to work if prices go up. You need to have 1.5m ITB to make it work. Then you also have an option to do Son -> Bruno before GW2.

I don't know about you but after all my years of playing I've realised there's no worse feeling in fpl then seeing your Premium forward being outscored by your ML rivals shiny new budget forward with a sea of green fixtures and there's no better feeling than seeing your budget forward outscore the premium ones. Antonio, Mitro, Adams and Wood will all go on runs of form And I already know that when it happens itll cause me to kneejerk and restructure my team to fit a premium mid(Salah, Bruno, Kdb, Auba) in midfield with the funds freed. After last season I've realised I need to go back to the basics ie Understand my managerial style and play accordingly.

I had that experience last season with Ings. I didn't trust him due to high xGDelta, somehow haven't got him, had other fires to put out, but he kept scoring for 6.0-6.5 while I was happy if my Rashford for 8.5-9.0 would equal that.

But I like the 10.0 - 8.5 - 6.0 structure in attack at the moment. There are many candidates for each of those brackets.

Yeah. It's always an Ings or Jiminez or Wilson or somebody who goes on a run and I can't stand it. This year trying to make a few fixed rules that il try to follow for as long as possible. Always did that except for.last year and I was on the backfoot all year. This year my GK, taa, Robby, Doherty, 3 to 4 premium mids are fixed. And I'l swap out forwards whenever I can.

Not sure this is the year for that, Adams isn’t established, Mitro is streaky; really not a lot or low price options to rotate through. Wood? Not for me..

If i’ve learnt anything over the years, rotating keepers is a losing battle. Set and forget for me. Who? I dont know yet.

You know that you are looking at it too long when you start clutching at straws such as Willian matching Auba to begin with...

    All these teams with Nyland...why?

He’s shocking and Villa are known to be in the market for a new keeper with Heaton coming back from injury.

Clear 4m option if you don’t go Ryan/Button

Seriously considering this for the first two weeks, then WCing early

    Ryan
    TAA-KWP-Vinagre-Tierney-Lamptey
    Auba-Mane-Salah-Soucek
    Kane

Can sort it and make decision on what Manc assets at that point as well. Mad?

An early WC demands you really attack the fixtures, this doesn't.

I'm just going to leave this draft I'm quite happy with here. No need to rate it, no need to even comment if you don't feel like it.

    McCarthy
    TAA - Egan - Vinagre - Justin
    Salah - Mane - Auba - ASM
    Werner - Mitro

    (Fabri - Ferg - Bissouma - Vasilev)

    1. Z

Justin is nailed only 3 games?

I'm not entirely sure about him. Going to wait and see if another 4.5 def emerges in pre-season. Might get Dallas. Not the best starting fixtures but he can rotate with Ferguson possibly.

Your def is very weak... Vinagre is not 100% nailed, especialy if they get LB, Justin is out when Evans returns in GW3, and if u have Mane and Salah i think that Mane is spaceholder for MU and City players, so u will not have space to change anything back in a few starting GWs

And Shefild wo Hendo is not the same team. For 5m u can get Dier for example

I like it. Very similar to mine but I currently am going 352 with Soucek in mid and 4.5 in place of Egan.

Still not sure on which 4.5 defs I will go for, will wait on transfers / injuries / friendlies etc.

Very nice 4-4-2. Defense is might be little light, but that's how you get the big three in midfield. You need quickly to downgrade one of them though, if upgrades for ASM and 4.5 defenders emerge.

I know I'll want Sterling/KDB and Bruno/Rash in a couple weeks so I went big in midfield so I can downgrade easily. Mane/Salah > Bruno in GW2 for example. Leeds are cruising for a bruising on opening day with Bielsa's brand of football so I feel more confident doubling up on Live than gambling on Kane to not play like a Mourinho player or something.

I have looked at various formations and 4-4-× seems to be the best option out there atm imo

    Draft 2

    Mcarthy

    VVD TAA Saliba/vinagre/Justin

ASM Salah Auba Son(1.5 itb for bruno)

    Werner Mitrovic

Subs the cheapest options in their positions
