We at Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ve added yet another high-profile name to our all-star cast of contributors for the 2020/21 season.

And Fantasy Premier League managers don’t come much more illustrious than Fábio Borges, who currently sits atop our Career Hall of Fame.

You’ll need a pretty impressive season history to claim first place in those rankings and Fábio boasts an incredible track record of five successive finishes in the top 5,000 of FPL.

Two of those have been inside the top 1k, with his best-ever overall rank of 95th recorded in 2018/19.

Fábio has never finished outside the top 20,000 in six seasons of playing the game and, just to underscore his prowess, he was also the winner of Ragabolly’s inaugural Virtual FPL competition over the summer.

The Lisbon resident will be involved with Fantasy Football Scout in a Pro Pundit capacity and will be writing articles throughout the season.

Fábio follows site founder Mark Sutherns in joining our star-studded team of contributors, which includes some of the best FPL managers in the world.

The likes of Lateriser, Zophar and Tom Freeman, who have multiple top 1k finishes between them, have come aboard for another year and we are thrilled that they will be writing for us once again in 2020/21.

While there will be our usual offering of free content from these elite names, only Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout will get unrestricted access to all of their analysis and team reveals.

Full-year subscriptions are available for the pre-season price of £17.50 until August 31, while rolling monthly Memberships can be purchased for £2.99.

Don't like 1 up top, there are a lot of good striker options who you won't be able to get as easily. Defenders look solid.

Personally I would shift one of mane and salah and have another striker.

Manchester United players are where the value lies imo. If you assess them on the last third of the season with Bruno playing from GW 26 onwards (I'm excluding GW25 as he had just arrived from and played in Portugal a few days earlier) then you'll see what I mean. Joint top goalscorer in this upcoming seasons forwards category was Martial (9 goals, 3 assists), Bruno accrued 2 more goals and 2 more assists than KBD (admittedly with quite a few more minutes) and Greenwood would have only been outscored by his team mate, Sterling, Aubameyang and Mane amongst the midfielders which isn't bad for 7.5m. Jeez, even their much maligned defence earned eight clean sheets in that period 13 week period!

I think I'll start with at least one of those on the bench in GW1 and reap the rewards in GW2!

I’ve got Greenwood on my bench.
Don’t really fancy anyone else at that price and will save an FT by not having to bring him in.

Worth noting that those returns came in a run of fixtures easier than those other teams faced.

But yes, there could be value there.

Yes they were very good last season. I was thinking of greenwood on the bench but have been convinced that its probably better to start with Son and make move to greenwood / Fernandes in Gameweek 2 or 3.

Having Fernandes on the bench feels bad to me, If son scores a goal that's maybe 10 points and then I can swap to Fernandes and be up on all those who benched him.

Soucek with his first two fixtures, especially the first one - has returns expected all over it imo. Kane will be back and therefore Son back out wide. Kane’s the main man. Plus Europe exertions.

2 each. Probably KDB, Laporte, Martial, Greenwood.

    How's this? A

    Mccarthy (4)
TAA - Vinagre - Justin - Saliba (Ferguson)
Salah - Auba - Son - Armstrong (Greenwood)
    Werner - Mitro (4.5)

    0.5 itb.

Potential plan of Auba/Armstrong to Kdb/Foden for GW3, if Foden seems a good idea.

I guess there is some merit in spreading the cash given that we have 3 premiums already but I really want Bruno in my team for GW3 & 4 atleast. Because if he explodes in the first 2 games he'll be template very soon.
Also it's tough choosing 2 out Salah/KDB/Raz/Bruno at this point.

Bruno is (arguably) the most obvious captain choice in GW3 as well. Don't fancy not having him at that point.

I don’t think it will work like that.

The pricing means you can’t have them all, and all those premium mids are going to have games where they haul, and possibly at the same time.

All it takes is Salah to grab a brace in GW2 and Greenwood or Rashford to haul instead of Bruno then everyone’s head gets turned.

Auba is a placeholder for KDB or Bruno depending

Team is built for 4-3-3 for 4-5 game weeks before a wildcard

    GW1:
    McCarthy
    Taa Stevens Justin vinagre
    Salah (C) Maddison Auba (vc)
    Kane Mitrovic Ings

It’s purely for the first two game weeks for the most part when it comes to Kane , Everton’s defence (even before today’s showing) didn’t look convincing

& palace is historically a tricky game for United

But Bruno is defo one to come in when United s games hit a good stretch !

    Choose:

    A) Doherty, Armstrong, Bruno & Mitro
    B) 5m Def, Ziyech, Martial & Mitro
    C) 5m Def, Armstrong, Martial & Jimenez

Think this is my biggest dilemma with my team rest all pick themselves (TAA, Salah, Auba, Werner, Wolves def, Soucek & 4.5m defs).

    1. schlupptheweek
      • 12 Years
      6 years, 10 hours ago

I quite like A to be honest. You could even do Pepe and Jimenez instead of Bruno and Mitro so your not having 10.5M on the bench the first game.
The 5M defenders might be gold but their unlikely to match Doherty given his attacking ability and Wolves record with Boly.

      1. Karan_G14
        • 10 Years
        6 years, 9 hours ago

Yup I've considered Ziyech & Jimenez but that would mean I have to take a hit to get Bruno in GW2 which isn't ideal.

          • 12 Years
          6 years, 9 hours ago

I can see your logic. Crystal Palace is good fixture but you could get a get more points in the first few weeks without worrying about Man Utd assets. If you're set on captaining Bruno I can understand the logic. You have Salah, Werner and Auba as captaincy options so you could punt on a potentially explosive 6 to 8M midfielder and upgrade Mitrovic and maximise your points better.

World class creator in that amazing looking front three in Lampard's attacking system with fixtures of Brighton (A), West Brom (A), and Palace (H) in the first four. Also on set pieces and a continuous long range shooter. Nailed on in my team unless Pepe pulls off a miracle.

Lloris. Highest PPG out of starting keepers last season, easy fixtures with lots of CS. Will get BPS and save points due to the way Jose sets up his team. Shades of De Gea 17/18.

    Mc Carthy
    TAA - Justin - Vinagre
    Auba - Salah (C) - Son - Ziyech - Maddison
    Mitrovic - Adams

Ziyech >> Bruno for GW 2

Looks insecure with cheap forward :((

    A) Son + Martial
    B) Kane + Greenwood

Benching 1 United asset in GW1 and see how it goes for GW2. Stats probably suggest A, but Kane is drawing me in...

    Thoughts on this team?

Still early days, but liking this setup.

    McCarthy
    Robertson • Vinagre • Taylor
    Salah • Son • Auba • Ziyech
Werner • Mitro • Che Adams (if he looks like a starter in Pre Season)

    4.0 - Dallas - Ferguson - Gordon (4.5)

No TAA, yes. A risk. But no Robertson is an equal risk as he's got the similar threat from open play and corners/setpieces as well.

    Thoughts?

Just feel like without TAA and his ownership levels, could go south. But generally it’s good. Taylor? Assume you’re starting with Ferguson?

Not bad at all. Robbo over TAA is something I'm considering at the start of the season as Robbo finished last season well. Over long term TAA will be better though but could correct that on wildcard.

Ziyech I'm not sure on as haven't seen much of him and dutch league is notoriously poor, a wait and see for me but jumping on early as a punt could work out.

I'd go TAA - both because of ownership and also he is more dangerous due to direct FKs. For assists though, both TAA and Robbo are similar.

Ah that pre season period where teams are ripped up on a game by game basis depending on who did well in a literal friendly that almost has 0 basis in how the season will go

Not saying you can't learn important things like Lundstram last year but by in large try not to jerk that knee too much

Yeah, I think the same, too much panic changing but it’s all friendlies. Spurs against Ipswich for example, the discrepancy in quality is mammoth yet people will probably assume spurs are suddenly a different team under Mourinho. All changes when PL kicks off for Mourinho’s sides.

    Hi everyone!

    McCarthy, (Nyland)
    Justin, Egan, Basham, (Douglas, Johnson)
    Salah, Auba, Ziyech, Saka, (Leko)
    Kane, Vardy, Mitrovic

0.5 ITB, because my plan is to swap either Ziyech and Vardy too for Rashford and Martial if I feel like after first week.
Long term plan is to upgrade my defense, obviously TAA and Robbo later on.

    Thoughts?
    Cheers!

Decent, would prefer ASM/Armstrong to Saka. Willian could mean les gametime for Saka.
Also Ferguson/Mitchell may provide more gametime as 4.0s.

Also Soucek instead of Saka would enable only one 4.0 defender

Not certainn tbh. Kane is known to be a slow starter and you have too many transfer targets, if you want to get Manchester assets in also.

I’m all done with structure, just really need one of Ferguson/Mitchell to look like they will start in GW1!
Plus hopefully Brewster gets a loan move to another prem team.

    Ryan
    TAA | Doherty | Vinagre | KWP | Ferguson*
    Salah (C) | Auba | Son | Soucek
    Kane (VC)

    4.0 | 4.5 str | 4.5 str | Greenwood*

Not a fan to be honest. 1 up top is very inflexible and Soucek as a long term starter is not great either imo, one good fixture then tough run.

Non existent, though as mentioned for GW2 onwards if Brewster gets a loan move and one of the 4.0 defenders gets decent time then there’s 2 in the wings

Kane and Son is overkill if they don't deliver and injuries happen to other players. Might force you to early WC.

Should only be an issue GW1, Greenwood off the bench GW2.

Are all these players being planned to be swapped out for UTD and City assets based on whether they will do well or just because most are doing it?

I mean Auba to KDB honestly is as sideways as anything.

Auba as a mid is the cat amongst the pigeons. OOP too with Laca likely to take the back seat now that Willian has joined the ranks.
