The final international break of 2020 is nearing its end and the UEFA Champions League will soon be getting back underway.

We’re at the halfway point of the group stage, with three rounds of fixtures still to come before the elite European club competition takes a winter breather.

And whether you signed up to the official UEFA Champions League Fantasy game ahead of Matchday 1 or are entering a new team ahead of next Tuesday’s deadline, there are prizes to be won.

It’s not just UEFA who are dishing out the rewards for their free-to-play game but us at Fantasy Football Scout, too.

UEFA Champions League final tickets and the new Playstation 5 are the incentives for those topping the overall leaderboard, while we’ll be awarding free Premium Memberships for the UCL Fantasy managers who prosper in our mini-league.

Our mini-league leader Mario sits joint-seventh in the world, just 13 points off first place on the overall leaderboard.

It’s tight at the top of the Fantasy Football Scout league, however, with just six points separating second and tenth.

And nothing is settled just yet, with all of our top ten having used at least one chip already.

Our European football whizz, FFFrog, will return next Tuesday with his preview of Matchday 4.

I had martial in my first wc draft this week. but I haven't seen football in a couple of years and have no idea if he offers the same value as bruno or not.(hasn't done anything this season too) Plus they have Cavani in that position

Can’t see that happening. I know footballers are working to different protocols but allowing a player who tested positive play a game a week later seems very unlikely to happen

From a quick google it looks like the protocol is to isolate for 10 days after positive test

That’s premier league protocol from what I read. Can’t think of any examples of players testing positive and being back a week later? But happy to be corrected on this

Yeah negative test means no requirement to isolate etc, so if he is fit to play then he can.

Could be a big "if" though, depends how the virus impacted him.

I was there to ask the same I just don't know if England has any law about people coming from other countries getting quarantined for 10 days if they had covid ?

Article seems to contradict the headline or at least muddy the water.

Firstly the key word is "expects" a negative test on Thursday, which they're basing on him not having any symptoms, which contradicts previous reports, ( although I don't know the source or credibility) that he was displaying mild symptoms.

Surely that's speculation on what the result may or not be. There's been examples of other players retesting positive after displaying either none or mild symptoms a week after testing positive.

He goes on to say it would be better to have two negative tests, what timescale what they be apart? 24 hours? 48 hours? I don't know.

Again I'm not sure but I thought the protocol over here was 2 negative tests before being allowed to reintegrate.

The NHS track & trace for the public is 10 days from first displaying symptoms / testing positive for isolation.

As I said originally it's all speculation at this stage.

If I was a betting man, I'd say he won't play v Leicester. It's within 10 days of testing positive, wouldn't that be irresponsible of Liverpool to risk infecting the rest of their already reduced squad?

Even if you test negative the virus can still spread from someone up to around 10 days and according to UK law he still will have to isolate for 10 days from last Friday

So my dilemma is Salah, Chilwell & potentially Saiss. I have 1FT.

Provisional plan (which can obviously change due to more internationals and news as it arrives):
    - Bench Salah & Chilwell, remove (Saiss & Mitchell) for (Targett & Coufal) for -4.

    Would look like this:

    McCarthy
    Coufal - Justin - Lamptey - Targett
    Son - Grealish - Zaha
    Kane - Werner (C) - DCL (VC)

    B: Forster - Salah - Chilwell - Stephens

Decent provisional team to put out for GW9 to get it over and done with?

I will wait till Friday night/Saturday morning to make as informed decisions as possible.

    Thanks all

    Martinez
    Konsa, Coufal, Chilwell*, Cancelo, KWP

    DCL, Bamford, Vardy

    Thoughts?

Its good. I would probably prefer Watkins to Bamford for now due to the fixtures. DCL could become Bamford in three weeks as Evertons next 3 is good and Leeds have a good run after that.

Choose one WC option to rotate with Soucek?

    Martinez | Forster
PvA Lamptey Taylor | Justin Lewis |
    Mane KdB Bruno | X | Soucek
    Vardy Richarlison | X |

    B) Berge + Watkins

A out of those options, but not keen on either.
You’re forced to play one of soucek or Brewster/berge every week.

At first I was like people should plan better (including myself) but really other than rolling 2 transfers what else can you do if 5-6 players from your team are out. But then again if I had a playing bench I'd have less of an issue so again I could have planned better

Would you prefer Lewis or Kilman for the best option 4.3m or less on a WC.

    Kilman:

    Better defensive team

    Lewis:

    Better fixtures
    Nailed on

    1. @persecuted_by_mods

I believe Wolves can squeeze out a CS here and there in those tough games, with Kilman also slightly capable of the rare attacking return

I have zero faith in Newcastle squeezing anything out of any game, judging by their performance this season. Even the GW1 win vs West Ham was more due to West Ham's inability to move an inch on the pitch on a very bad day than to Newcastle's resilience

...and Lewis's inability to defend properly is actually part of the problem

Marcal? Marcal has played at LWB since he came to the club, while playing at LB in previous clubs. It's Marcal vs Ait-Nouri at LWB, although Ait-Nouri has already stamped his ground for the slot, as he's a left-footed natural LWB, while Jonny Otto is right-footed. Marcal's positions played here:
          https://www.transfermarkt.com/marcal/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/137745/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/543

Saiss? Saiss has been a utility player for Nuno, slotting in at DM, RCB, LCB and LWB to fill in for injured players, short term or long term. Saiss's positions played here:
          https://www.transfermarkt.com/romain-saiss/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/204198/plus/0?saison=&verein=543&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=

Marcal played LCB at his previous club, and Saiss could easily pop back into the team particularly after such an error made by Kilman last week to concede a pen

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years
              5 years, 7 months ago

Yes, yet Marcal has been played exclusively at LWB since he joined Wolves, whether off the bench or in the starting XI, showing where Nuno sees him in his system

Nuno doesn't drop players for conceding pens after praising them for weeks. Kilman has to be consistently bad for a while to be dropped

My point is that there are no threats to him at the moment: Marcal is a LWB to Nuno, Saiss is a utility player who fills into slots where needed, such as what might happen this weekend for Coady, at central CB

        2. King Kohli

Haven’t owned any Wolves defenders this season nor do I plan to anytime soon with their horrendous fixtures... as a 4th defender is risky stuff going into the Christmas period but each to their own

People who own a player in FPL are more likely to take out the time to find out about the player's risk of being dropped, and probably did that research before buying rather than just predicting based on a hunch... Yes

Can any player in the league eventually be dropped? Yes. Even Lundstram was dropped at a point last season as the fans rightly predicted, months after people had him in their teams

Saiss is not the best defensively as well.
Kilman was unlucky to give away a penalty last gw but apart from that I don't think he's played badly.

The tactical genius of a coach that they have might use this opportunity to test out the super risky idea of a non 3ATB formation that actually sets out to attack... Involving some of his best yet somehow fringe players, like Grealish

But just a test, as this genius is well aware that defensive solidity is what is more likely to go places with the generational attacking talent available in the squad, with solidity taking them to such great places as the natio... Oh.

    Wild gw ahead boys.

    This is me:
    Martinez
    Semedo James Cresswell
    Saka Zaha Ziyech Fernandes
    Bamford Kane Watkins

    McCarty Dias Neco W. Salah

atm - 8pt as I transferred Keane, Klich, Son > Neco W., Zaha, Ziyech

It was planned to tank after gw8 for the swing, probably dias > cancelo for gw10 if he stays hot.

Do you think I have enough in the mid to tank salah and leave him on the bench?

Does anyone fancy Cavani to become the next DCL price-wise?

Theres hardly a "row" as they have all been allowed to travel back to their respective clubs and it doesnt affect Berge at all. Sucks for Norway as they will lose all their games by default for not fielding a team.

    Thank you 🙂
