After starting at right-midfield in Gameweek 25 as Leicester beat Aston Villa 2-1, Ricardo Pereira (£5.9m) is again playing ‘out of position’ in the first of Leicester City’s Double Gameweek 26 fixtures.

With James Maddison (£7.3m) sidelined for this weekend at least, Brendan Rodgers has possibly gone for a slight change of shape as Kelechi Iheanacho (£5.6m) looks set to partner Jamie Vardy (£10.2m) up front.

Over one million FPL managers paid out for the services of Harvey Barnes (£6.9m) ahead of DGW26. The England hopeful starts in his customary left-wing position.

With Pereira playing further forward, Luke Thomas (£4.2m) earns a second consecutive league start at left-back.

The defender will not be facing Bukayo Saka (£5.2m) from the first whistle, however. After admitting on Thursday that the winger is fatigued, Mikel Arteta has duly handed Saka a rest.

He drops to the Gunners’ bench alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.3m), Hector Bellerin (£5.1m) and Thomas Partey (£4.9m).

“We’ve had some problems in the last 48 hours to recover players – players with some muscular issues. We had to freshen up. The reality is that there are other players who are fighting for chances and they deserve the chance to play.” – Mikel Arteta

They are also joined by Rob Holding (£4.4m), who makes his return to the squad after suffering a concussion in the Gameweek 25 defeat to Manchester City.

Kieran Tierney (£5.2m) continues at left-back after making his injury return in the Europa League this week.

Tyrick Mitchell (£3.9m) is the major absentee from an FPL perspective as Crystal Palace welcome Fulham to Selhurst Park.

Having started in Gameweek 25, the left-back drops to the bench with Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m) favoured by Roy Hodgson for the Eagles’ first DGW26 tie.

Scott Parker is also fond of a full-back switch, with right-sided defender Kenny Tete (£4.3m) returning to the Cottagers’ XI. That leaves Antonee Robinson (£4.4m) on the bench, as the versatile Ola Aina (£4.5m) switches to left-back.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£5.5m) returns to the Fulham matchday squad but has not displaced Josh Maja (£5.5m) up front. Parker’s men also have another match this gameweek, with Spurs visiting Craven Cottage on Thursday.

Leicester City XI (4-4-2): Schmeichel; Thomas, Soyuncu, Evans, Castagne; Barnes, Ndidi, Tielemans, R Pereira; Iheanacho, Vardy.

Arsenal XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tierney, Mari, David Luiz, Cedric; Xhaka, Elneny; Willian, Smith Rowe, Pepe; Lacazette.

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Guaita; Van Aanholt, Cahill, Kouyaté, Ward; Eze, Riedewald, Milivojevic, Townsend; Ayew, Benteke.

Fulham XI (4-2-3-1): Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Tete; Reed, Anguissa; Lookman, Loftus-Cheek, De Cordova-Reid; Maja.

Barnes getting injured = unlucky, of course

Saying it was the right decision, based on what? It doesn't even mean anything, all we saw was 45 mins of him being invisible, he may have done well he may not have but I wouldn't be so quick to call it the right decision getting him in

Clearly not the right one in hindsight but if you owned Maddison it was definitely on paper a good choice

What a stupid comment. Barnes was a player in great form with a DGW and good following fixtures.

The Maddison injury was the only thing that made it less good.

Very sensible move. Injury purely unlucky.

I read it. He had almost a match and a half to go, and good fixtures after GW26.

You could apply your comment to every transfer in the game but people don't because that'd be stupid.

          1. @persecuted_by_mods
            5 years, 4 months ago

Yes and what does that have to do with anything? Why does that make it a good decision? If he blanked in all of those it's still the good right decision?

Well I would apply it to almost every transfer if every time someone got injured his owners say it was the right decision to get him in

Yes even if he blanked, it would’ve been a good decision. The outcome doesn’t dictate the nature of the decision.

If I got in Willian for this GW, it would’ve still been a terrible decision, no matter how much he scores

              1. @persecuted_by_mods
                5 years, 4 months ago

Understood, and no offence but this is Harvey Barnes and lots of people didn't get him. Again I'm not saying it was the incorrect decision, I'm merely saying you can't call it the correct decision. Leicester struggled today with Madison and Barnes was invisible for 45

Your post doesn't even specify if they're selling X for Barnes.

If it's someone selling somebody like Harrison/Soucek etc for Barnes, then the move made complete sense. Even Maddison, who just got injured.

If it's for Son etc not so much, but your post does not have any discrepancy. Like anything, it depends.

It's a stupid comment posted to rile up owners. The logic of the move made complete sense. You're. Getting tied up in syntax because when people say "it was the right decision" they often mean 'it was the right decision based on the statistics we've looked into"

              1. @persecuted_by_mods
                5 years, 4 months ago

Well I'm responding to one specific person who didn't explain the context, you've made assumptions and jumped on my post thinking it's a trolling attempt

All they posted was something like "unlucky he got injured it was the right decision"- no context there, my post is merely responding saying how can you say it's the right decision, if they or anyone specifically responds and explains their team and decision to get him in it could of course be good or bad, again I wasn't trying to rile anyone up but it seems to be a new trend to keep saying right decision wrong outcome

                    5 years, 4 months ago

Well how many people have you seen say it's the right decision? it applies to anyone that has said that with no context

That is clear from me asking "based on what?" which clearly infers that my post only applies to anyone who has posted it was the right decision without context. It was in response to one specific comment saying that but there may have been more. I wasn't trolling or trying to rile people up I just didn't want to attack that specific person and made it a wider point

I mean if you read it and it's clearly asked "based on what?" You would understand what my post is about, it's specifically saying you can't call something a right decision with no context, all you're doing is agreeing with me when you start explaining the context

It was 100% the correct decision to get him in. Obviously anyone as a non owner has been extremely lucky so congratulations on that. That's the game we play.

      1. @persecuted_by_mods
        5 years, 4 months ago

        1. Roy Hudd
          • 9 Years

It's very easy to say afterwards that it wasn't the correct decision. That's like not getting Kane in for 10 straight leagues games against the bottom 10..him blanking in all then commenting saying oh yeh I'm not sure it was the correct decision getting him in.

It's just purely a hindsight comment you've made which is poor but obviously people will respond to it with their opinions.

          1. @persecuted_by_mods
            5 years, 4 months ago

I'm not saying it was the incorrect decision (though hindsight had proved it was due to a random injury), read my post again, I was responding to someone who was unequivocally saying it was the right decision to get him

Plenty of good FPL managers have not got Barnes in either.
Of course there are some who got him in this week like Lateriser, but they are more likely chasing.

It just never was anything close to 100% to get him in.

Things are always obvious after the fact. Past is always deterministic since only one single observation took place. A mistake is not something to be determined after the fact, but in light of the information until that point. So even if he would have blanked in his two fixtures it was more right than wrong call to get him in.

      1. Iwantmorepointsthanks
        • 12 Years

Well, some might say in light of the information at that time, it was not necessarily more right than wrong to get him in.

typical. I played my WC last wk to prepare for BB this week...Sold Raz, Antonio, Richarlison, Mee....typical

Yeah WC always bites back in a way. But happy for now as I have 7 Gw29 players. Just hoping to sneak a green arrow this week and get into the top 10k.

Didn't think Lowton had a chance of a CS this week but with Leicester growing weaker I'm slowly becoming more excited... surely they can't do it again?!

Just tuned in. Do you think Barnes injury is serious so he won't play the next game?
