Fulham’s strong recent performances, especially in defence, have seen the Cottagers climb to one point off safety.

After losing their first six games at the beginning of the season and conceding 14 goals in the process, many classed the west London outfit as the top-flight whipping boys.

But manager Scott Parker has completely turned their fortunes around, and no club has conceded fewer Premier League goals than Fulham in their last six matches.

Their improvements at the back have not resulted in any kind of Fantasy bandwagon, however, with their highest-owned defensive player being goalkeeper Alphonse Areola (£4.5m).

Instead of targeting the Fulham defence, should we now be looking to add their defenders to our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams?

See how City get on tonight, I would really be tempted to sell Sterling if I were you. Auba/Bale could be nice options.

Veltman - See stats in the link and Lamptey has had an injury setback so should be nailed for a while. 0.6 cheaper so can be your 5th def on the bench after 29

Did it last week for Auba although really only planned it as a short term move, will keep a close eye on Salah and Liverpool in general until GW30 and will leave the possibility open of getting him back, but this looks like much more than a small blip

But that's been true for weeks and weeks

It depends who you get in of course but holding for a theoretical fixture turn doesn't add up to me. He has just blanked against SHU and Fulham. The Liverpool slide also dates back to their last fixture turn when they drew with Brighton Fulham WBA and Newcastle in fairly quick succession.

    Kane Antonio Bamford.

    Ederson
    Dias Cresswell Pereira AMN
    Gundo Auba Bruno Mount(C)
    Kane Antonio
    (Martinez Raphinha DCL Burn)

Does this look worth a BB? Any particular reason why I might be best to hold it for another week? Fixtures aren't bad IMO and only have a few players directly in competition which will likely leave me with one definite blank (Bruno and Cresswell). Thinking I will move at least one mid or forward to fodder soon so I'm thinking now makes sense.

I think a little bit, they've looked good but don't forget they put 8 goals combined past a really poor Burnley and Palace (who have been pretty poor in general recently). They only beat Fulham 1-0 due to an OG and were lucky it wasn't 1-1. Arsenal will be tougher so see how they manage against them, but Villa aren't slouches defensively and have probably the keeper of the season

Realistically 0-0, but it's also not completely unrealistic that JWP is the only one of those 5 that starts so first and foremost I'd just hope Pep rotation doesn't mean tonight ends up leaving you with a heap of single GW players that could have been doubles

If you were Erling Haaland who would you sign for this summer?

I have a feeling City is his likely destination. It seems to line up. They have the money, the manager, the ambitions and everything to make him a legend. Supposedly he's a City fan too because of his dad.

He could pick any club I think.

Chelsea have the financial power, but I don't think they have the ambition or the right manager to tempt him to go.

Put this way, if I were Haaland, I would only be signing for a European Super Giant. United, City, PSG, Real, Barca. That's it. Maybe I just see these teams as having commercial power as well. City maybe less than the others but it would be made up for by the fact you'd be playing under Guardiola and for the best squad, in the best league in the world.

Real and Barca on the decline, BBVA in general doesn't seem to be at the level it was say 3-4 seasons ago.

PSG play in a farmers league. Only thing to go for there is Champs League...

This leaves the prem as the sensible option for a player of his standard.

Genuinely can't see the appeal of joining United over City or Chelsea. Joining City would most likely grant instant success - Chelsea offer the more long term vision. Not sure why Tuchel isn't an attractive manager either, especially with his previous Bundesliga knowledge (and therefore probably long term knowledge of Haaland himself).

Also, pretty sure if Tuchel was still at PSG, you would still have included PSG in your list of possible destinations so I think that's a non point.

Real and Barca are still immense draws to any player. Decline is relative. Both are still in with a shot of La Liga this season.

Chelsea feels like a rebuild right now that's the thing. At least to me, it doesn't feel like a team ready to dominate. Maybe in 3 or 4 years.

City's long term vision is also better imo. Their team core is actually relatively young. Dias is 23. They're already phasing out Kun, Fernandinho etc.

If he's interested in titles then Dortmund to United is sideways.

This is what Bild reported last week, that he has more or less ruled out a team like Chelsea that isn't really challenging for titles and is in a transitional period right now. Then again who's to say what will happen if Chelsea had a good run in the CL or even won it

      United or nothing.

Could definitely go anywhere. I'd honestly say an extra season at Dortmund would do him well, rumours suggest he will want to go to a "top" club and not anything below that and if he goes to City it's not like a few years ago where he'd have any real competition so it certainly looks like it fits well

Kun to Haaland - it does seem to add up.

That said if a Spanish giant comes calling that could be game over.

I think they're already on course for that. Losing the league last year to Pool was a surprise. Few people tipped Liverpool to improve on 18/19. Mentality monsters. They just managed to push through and win so many games through sheer force of will.

This season it looks like regression to the mean and likely onto rebuild next season by selling at least one of the front 3.

I’d expect Liverpool to have a real go again next year with Anfield (12th Man) and the likes of Virgil, Matip, Hendo and Fabinho back playing consistently. Only worry is that the players have lost their legs from the constant running over the past 3 years similar to what happened with Klopp at Dortmund. If that’s the case I can see the likes of Salah leaving and a rebuild

I think this is it personally. Unlucky to lose VvD because they could've had a proper push again this year with him. At least you got one title!

Bayern likely his first choice, then Man City/Barca/Madrid second choice, then tight between Chelsea/Man Utd/PSG

Reckon he won't be going anywhere this summer though he is available for €70m in 15 months time when his buyout clause kicks in - so it will be Summer 2022 when he moves - means he can get an exponentially bigger compensation package from the €70m his eventual suitor will save on his transfer fee

Bayern? Really? I don't see it. I wouldn't choose Bayern if I had the pick of all the clubs. Lewandowski also still around.

Yeah I reckon he's Lewa's heir apparent - makes sense for him too in so far as he has pretty much adapted to the German league, so won't be a culture shock, but its still a step up to where he can win the Bundesliga & Champions League

Even after 3-4 seasons at Bayern he'll still only be 24/25 & can then swap over to a big English or Spanish club to win the league & champions league with them

And STILL have room for one more mega move to whichever one of those three leagues he hasn't conquered by that time (in say 7or 8 seasons down the line)

Haaland fits every single big team. There is no team that wouldn't have him. Of course he'd be perfect as Lewandowski's replacement. But he would also be perfect to replace Aguero or Benzema.

I'm thinking purely from the player's perspective. Would he go to Bayern and stay in the same league? He has a bit of a Zlatan air about him especially with Raiola as his agent. Think he'll do something like...

Dortmund > City > Real > PSG > Juve or something like that.

Yeah I see Bayern as the very probable first destination post-Dortmund - unless Dortmund win the Champions League this year

It just means he's not leaving Germany with unfinished business - very cleanly allows him to step up to a club who will be favourites to win their own league and the Champions league, without having to uproot into a whole new league - then when he's conquered Germany & Europe with Bayern, he gets an even bigger move to whichever of the English/Spanish giants look hospitable a few years down the line

Really think it's a summer 2022 conversation though either way - I can't see him moving this summer with the buyout clause being such a significant reduction - especially in this new COVID dampened transfer market

If I was City, I'd be going flat out to sign him, think he'd do a brilliant job there.

Certainly seems keen on the PL from what I've seen, and I think he'd also do a very good job at United. Chelsea will want him but I get the feeling City and United would get a larger boost from having him than Chelsea (though, as a Chelsea fan, he should definitely still join us 😉 )

Can't see Barca challenging - they have enough financial problems to deal with, can't imagine they'd be fighting to spend more cash. Real are hardly solid either, not sure on their exact numbers but last I heard they were piling up debt as well.

City seems most likely to me, depends how willing they are to spend big on him before his release clause opens - Chelsea certainly won't hesitate to move early.

These sort of swaps almost never happen. But conceivably Chelsea could Werner the other way?

The out and out forward is what they lack if you take Werner as someone who feeds off a CF mostly. With Puli and Werner they're not short of auxiliary forwards
