In Fantasy Football Scout’s Meet the Manager series, Joe chats to a Fantasy Premier League manager with a stellar track record of success.

This time he is joined by Tom Stephenson, who has shown a remarkable level of consistency over his 13 campaigns. Make sure you watch the latest instalment below.

Across his career he has four top 5,000 finishes and is in a strong position to gain his fifth this time around.

Meanwhile, he has one further finish in the top 10,000 and has not ended a season outside the top 40,000 in his last dozen campaigns.

This incredible run has propelled him to second in our Live Hall of Fame list of some the best ever FPL managers.

Among the stand-out moments in their chat is when Tom not only shares his plans for the remainder of the season, but also gives a sneak preview of the first draft of his Gameweek 31 Wildcard.

Can this strategic deployment of the game’s most valuable chip ensure Tom finishes the season strongly once again?

Elsewhere, Tom reveals his top tips for a strong finish and why patience is very much a virtue.

The last year has seen the world, including FPL, turned upside down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tom chats about he has managed to maintain strong Gameweek scores amid the postponements, surprise announcements and player quarantines.

I think this has to be the most enjoyable chat I've ever had about FPL with Mark on FPL BlackBox tonight.

You can see why he's the Godfather of FPL. Some of the insights he has, and the research he puts in, are just on another level.

You can watch / listen here if you're interested!

Just checked the records for goals conceded and XGC in last 6 home matches. It may be that Liverpool's fixture run is being slightly overhyped 🙂

GW35 for me I think if I go there.

No updates but he must have been close for the last game but Spurs didn’t want him to get involved so South Korea wouldn’t call him up for their meaningless friendly.

Got to think he will be ready for the next match.

So Martial potentially out with a knee injury.

      https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12025/12259611/anthony-martial-manchester-united-forward-limps-off-on-france-duty-with-suspected-knee-injury

Can’t expect Cavani and Rashford to play every game with the continued Europa League involvement.

So could this make £7.0m Mason Greenwood a decent option especially if he plays up front ?

I’d bench the West Ham players out of those as Wolves have been decent at home recently (only 2 goals conceded in last 4 home matches).

You may well still need them anyway from your bench as lots of Internationals still be played so injuries / rotation possible.

Thoughts on transfer plans? 1 FT. £1.6m ITB.

      Martinez
      Dias - Reguillon- Cresswell
      Bruno - Gundo - Raphinha - Salah - Son
      Kane - Antonio

      Subs: Fabri, Maja, White, Burn.

Current thinking is Burn to Rudiger. Could get in Azpi, who I prefer as an asset, but think the £1.2m ITB will give me a lot more flexibility over season end.

The Rudiger transfer is a deffo. And I agree re the little stash of cash in the bank to give flexibility. Actually a really good looking team.

Evening y'all. Been an average season so far and I'm about 70 points behind the ML leader. Worth playing bench boost for GW30 or anything worth a -4/-8? I'm keen to double / triple Chelsea defence before end of season but not sure it's worth a hit this week.

      Martinez

      Rudiger, Maguire, Dallas

      Fernandes, Raphinha, Gundogan, Odegaard

      Kane, DCL, Watkins

      Subs: Pope, Stones, Cancelo, Soucek

        • 5 Years

Def not worth taking a hit this week as you’ve got enough benching headaches already. Fixtures aren’t the best for single week bench boost but I guess it’s whether you think this is the best opportunity until season end.

Seems like your trying to force something a bit, not sure how much you really need to make a transfer. Also Kevin vs leeds is on the horizon, (GW31) who is a great captain shout in that week, if you think he will start could keep and just do Areloa - Mendy to use the transfer and roll the other one to have 2 for GW31

Cancelo/Dias to Alonso and drop Bale (assuming he doesn't play, could drop Antonio instead)

There's a chance of course, but you have a decent bench anyways. I think Alonso will start against a low block plus he's fully rested over the IB unlike Chilwell who has been playing for England. Has high upside against a West Brom defense that has been obliging to bigger sides. Could also look at Havertz for Bale

Think WBA are rather different nowadays and look like a typical Sam defence. They could capitulate to a top team but that applies to any team really.

Certainly if you check goals conceded and XGC they are alongside sides like Arsenal, West Ham and Spurs for goals let in and ahead of them on expected goals conceded.

Still think Alonso a fair shout but don't see any form of rout.

WC active. How does it look?
      Mendy
      TAA,Alonso,Rudiger, Shaw
      KDB, Fernandes, Lingard,Raphinia
      Kane,Bamford

      Forster,Lacazette,Jota,Coady 0.6 m itb

Triple Chelsea defence, I know. Alonso will be moved on for Cresswell in a few weeks.
Raphinia and Bamford will be benched for Jota and Lacazette from 31.

      GW 32. Bamford > Ineacheo
      GW 33 KDB > Salah.

Yeh im on the fence with Salah. Might have to lose one of TAA or Jota if I had him from this week. Triple seems a little too much.
          KDB > Salah. Jota > Saka/Neto
Vardy:- Laca > Vardy somewhere down the road could be an option but not yet.

Had a peek at Liverpool attacking returns as a team.

Seems they are fixture neutral and have been all season long. They are as likely to blank or score 3 or more against top 8 or bottom 12. Even the overall average goal count is level despite the 7-0 win.

Thinking more and more fixtures are comparatively irrelevant and it's all about form. (Adding in there that on form Leeds away is currently one of the poorest fixtures on the calendar and WBA defence has quietly picked up a great deal)

Only thinking about Mo here from 33 or 35. (No WC of course)

Yep. Think I’ll go with Mo then and drop TAA to Cresswell and keep the money for a Lacazette >> Vardy move in 32.

Bale + Veltman > Raphinha + Alonso for -4, Punt before WCing in 31

Its not ideal taking a -4 before a WC but those players your bringing in have massive upside this week.
If your not confident with Bale v Newcastle then I'd strongly consider it.

Yes, the games that have been removed from GW32 from the latest fixtures announcement are expected to be put back in GW32 as a midweek fixture. Also according to Ben Crellin, Spurs could get a double in 32 against Everton and Soton. Follow Ben Crellin for more details

        Looks good

Given that we may have just a couple of very minor DGWs left I don't see the point in holding off for them. The only teams we know about are Spurs Soton Villa and Everton and you're not especially rich in those players as bench options
