With Leicester City’s fixtures for the near future looking like the perfect place for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points to be collected we asked the Scout Academy for their thoughts on the best way to invest in the Foxes.

Americans Talk FPL

With seven goals in his last five games, Kelechi Iheanacho‘s (£5.9M) form has made him undroppable for Leicester and a much cheaper alternative to Jamie Vardy (£10.1m).

Although Wesley Fofana (£5.0m) isn’t likely to provide attacking returns, he’s the cheapest route into Leicester’s rearguard, and looks to be a near lock to start every match. With under 1% ownership, he represents a massive differential as Leicester embark on one of the friendliest fixture runs over the next four Gameweeks.

Americans Talk FPL

FPL Hangover Podcast

After an electric start to his inaugural FPL campaign with one goal and three assists an unfortunate injury stopped the momentum of Timothy Castagne (£5.7m). However, he seems to have nailed the current left-back spot in Brendan Rodgers’s side and with the fantastic run of fixtures that lie ahead for the Foxes, any FPL manager willing to overlook the relatively hefty price tag could reap the rewards.

Youri Tielemans (£6.4m) has already doubled his goal tally from previous seasons, moving to six against Arsenal. With three assists as well he could be a great differential pick over the remaining games of the season at just 3.6% ownership.

FPL injury latest on Vardy, Kane, Zaha, Mané and Alisson ahead of Gameweek 23

Since returning from injury Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) hasn’t performed in the way that FPL managers would have expected, with no goals since Gameweek 24. However, with James Maddison‘s (£7.2m) return to full fitness and expected restoration to the squad after his indiscretions pre-Gameweek 31, I expect Vardy to push hard for that Champions League spot and he has the perfect set of fixtures to return to goalscoring ways.

Maddison obviously let down Brendan Rodgers and Leicester by breaching Covid rules. However, he is normally involved in everything good that the Foxes do, especially when it comes to free-kicks. He is owned by just 5.4% of FPL managers and therefore looks to be a great differential for Leicester’s run in.

FPL Focus

Fantasy Football Academy

Kelechi Iheanacho (£5.9m) , with six goals since Gameweek 26, is the second most in-form player in the league after West Ham’s Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) and now faces four of the worst defences in the league so far this season. He seems to be the main target man while Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) has taken a more creative role, allowing Iheanacho to get into better positions and on the end of most chances.

Timothy Castagne (£5.7m) started the season with a bang, but Leicester’s bad defensive form has not improved his appeal in recent Gameweeks. His advanced role and the upcoming fixtures look very promising, and with the re-introduction of Çaglar Söyüncü (£5.3m) to the Foxes’ back line, clean sheets and, indeed, attacking returns look likely.

Fantasy Football Academy

FPL Side Net

An ever-present in Brendan Rodgers’s side is Youri Tielemans (£6.4m) who is owned by just 3.6% of FPL managers. We have also seen in the past, that Tielemans has the ability to get consistent attacking returns in short periods. With favourable fixtures, this could be that time.

Tielemans’ Belgian compatriot, attacking wing-back, Timothy Castagne (£5.7m), took the league by storm at the beginning of the season and was pivotal in Leicester’s fast start. Offering real differential opportunities for managers with only 4% ownership, Castagne will be looking to help the Foxes cement a top-four spot and a return to the Champions League whilst fantasy offering managers a real chance of consistent clean sheets.

FPL Side Net

FPL Shake n Bake

Lamptey injury news, Maddison's haul and other FPL talking points

After being dropped from the squad last week following his indiscretions, James Maddison (£7.2m) has a lot to fight for in the closing weeks of the season, including the top four as well as a place in England’s Euro 2020 squad. Prior to injury Maddison had scored two goals in two games and, with his set-piece threat and creativity, he could be on for some bumper hauls during the next few weeks.

With five starts in the last six Gameweeks, Ricardo Pereira (£5.9m) seems to have put his injury troubles behind him. Although Leicester’s defence have struggled to keep any clean sheets recently the next four fixtures look promising. Saying that, it is Pereira’s attacking potential that interests me most. Over the last six Gameweeks he has had the most touches in the penalty area (19) of all defenders in the league, suggesting returns are imminent.

      Coin toss

Think Watkins may be shrewder choice if you look long term and ignore 33. There's a great fixture swing in 36 for Leeds and Leicester. The Watkins DGW may possibly also fall in a DGW for Nacho too - the rest of his fixtures are very meh

At 34 years old, Vardy basically just has penalties left now that his age has finally caught up with him.

Needs to change his game as those bursts of speed to get in behind defenders are sadly a thing of the past.

I wont be surprised if In another 2 years Vardy still scores 15+ goals in the league. The man is an animal. He is instinctive. Yes age will catch up at some point but i dont think it has yet.

He is in my WC Team. Looking forward to the party

it s funny how things turn quickly in the fpl world. during the ib I hardly thought about my team, I was on the back of 6 green arrows and thought my team was in very good shape. then came gw31, 42 points, over 50% drop in rank and it looks i have issues all over the place.

won't panic though but still very undecided to say the least....

madness to go with Kane as only spurs coverage? I feel this decision and reshaping my team to get son in will have a major impact on the rest of my season.

    help appreciated 🙂

Haha. Appreciate your input. Just feel that with me falling down from within 100k to close to 300k in the last 5 GWs, I need a major differential to try get back into where I was. 300k or 700k come seasons end, it doesn't feel very different to me. So might just take a big risk is all.

That's the intial move I wanna do for a -4. But thinking now, and about my upside chasing, also looking to do Wood -> Vardy as well along with those transfer. I understand it a gamble, but looking for a high risk high reward if you will.

Honestly think Laca is a way better choice than Vardy if you want to punt

Sadly his goals have dried up apart from pens and this has been true for almost a complete season since GW20 last time. Just 6 open play goals all season tells its own story - same as Benteke!

Go Maddison in 33 against Palace if you want to double up Leicester. Palace are a much better team to attack than WBA.

The other one I'd think about is Cavani.

Burnley defence is horrid right now - far worse than WBA's.

getting son or not this gw is a big headache . spurs playing saints just a few days before the final concerns me in terms of rotation. spurs can still get top 4 but if they lose v everton no way he s playing a strong squad against southampton i think.

on the other hand, if son plays both games and you dont own him it could be carnage.we saw what he did in the reverse fixture...

Yep, you're correct. This comes back to the EO debate that was about the Kane captaincy in the blank week.

Son isn't necessarily needed this week but if you don't own him and he happens to score, his high EO will hurt.

That's why it makes complete sense to use EO in your thinking. If it is a 50/50 choice and could go either way, you either gamble and go hard (without Son) or play it save and get Son.

martinez is a keeper (pardon the pun). will save you a transfer down the line for dgw. you dont have issues in your team which require transfers imo but if you must pope to lloris?

      Agree with hold.
Rumor is Cress is a 3 week injury - so if you can hold on him he'll be back with amazing fixtures later.
Have 2ft for gw33 will be really useful.

Cresswell to Aurier (differential with DGW) with your FT and play him over Dallas. But you can save as well, your team looks good.

Lingard has the highest Shot on target percentage in the league of any forward with 67%. Yes he has overperformed his xG, but its partly due to his skill to make his high volume of shots count and get them on target more than any other player in the league. Yes 9 90s is not a big sample size but still interesting to note.

Not sure - he looked fine but I could see a bit of juggling with him and Johnson.
When Ogbonna's back (a week or two hopefully) and then Cresswell (probably 3?) then he's likely on the outs.

Feel like preferred back 4 is Coufal, Dawson, Ogbonna, Cress.
Then add in Diop, Johnson, Masuaka - who'd have thought WHU would have defensive depth!

Moyes seems to prefer a back 3 with Coufal and Masuaku as wingbacks though, he moved back to that as soon as Masuaku was available again.

I do agree that Masuaku drops out if they play a 4 and everyone is fit but it seems 3 CBs and wingbacks has been Moyes preferred formation this season when everyone has been available.

With Spurs I don't look at the fixtures. They can concede against all the PL teams. Burnley will have to fight for survival in PL, they are not a scoring team so I think to stay in PL they ll have to put the bus even more than usual.

    A. Dias > TAA

    C. Cresswell > TAA
    D. Targett > TAA
    E. Gundo > Maddison
    F. Gundo > Greenwood (Bruno > Salah later)

    Is this -8 too much?

DCL, Gundo, Creswell to Davis, Salah, Phillips.

    Would leave me with:

    Ederson
    Azpi TAA Dallas
    Salah Son Bruno Lingard Raphinha
    Iheanacho Kane

    Sanchez Phillips Targett Davis

My main issue with it is that I wouldn't be able to get Jota then.

Just get Jota instead of Salah, their point difference between now and the season's end will be negligible, and it will open up options withe extra ITB.
Don't do three transfers in one week, just select one per week over the three weeks, making the decision based on that weeks fixture.
Remember as they say: you can't have them all!

I had my worst ever FPL score this week...rank over 6M. I had my WC team written down and fully ready to go but decided to wait an extra week. I saw all of the second leg CL matches and thought that my team was strong enough to wait. I wanted that extra info of knowing who was in the CL (Is Salah knocked out? Any key injuries?) but it was a huge mistake.

I lost at least 40 points and several price rises. Wow. I don't regret it as much as I'm just super frustrated by that.

yeah that sucks. feels like waiting for more information is a smart, safe move - this week that wc template just did so dang well.

It's easy with hindsight but I always find that playing a wildcard early is better, don't wait if you don't need to. The chances of all the players you want to bring in flopping is low and you can always fix one or two of them. Waiting will mean spending transfers to then change them all out on a wildcard anyway.

So true! I tried to have patience and discipline, but I knew exactly who I wanted and I decided to wait. As soon as I heard that Sutherns triggered his WC on the Friday then I should have known something was up!!

There is but they haven't had anything to play for in the league for a long time now and he's still scored. Players and teams with plenty to play for don't necessarily do well. Leicester bombed this time last year and there was a competition not to make the top 4 by the end

Got Man City defender Dias who has, at best, got 7 PL fixtures left... Villa & Everton both have 9 to go including a DGW at some point.. No point, throwing in rotation, to keep any City player now.. Best Everton pick seems Keane or Digne and for Villa Targett or Watkins.. but Villa do have quite tough fixtures... Any thoughts?

    1. RogDog_jimmy
      • 5 Years

There does seem some logic of moving from Dias (maybe 5 fixtures?) to Targett/Digne (almost guaranteed 9 fixtures).

Question is when - and if you have enough depth is it worth a transfer? When Dias doesn't play you'll have someone off your bench - so is Dias + Bench (for 8 games) equitable to Targett/Digne?

      1. Euro Raiders

Ha ha.. you've done this before.. True if Dias doesn't start then it is near certain he won't come on so no cameo fears like there is with the likes of midfielders or forwards...EG Gundogan.. have him so think he needs to be on his bike! Got caught with his second half appearance this last GW for 1 glorious point.

    Thoughts on this WC draft?

    Mendy Forster
    Pereira Rudi Coady Masuaku Philips
    Salah Son Jota Lingz 4.2
    Kane Vardy Cavani

Cavani/Greenwood depends on who starts in Europa.

    1. Moderately content penguin

Vardy over Nacho makes little or no sense to me - particularly if it leaves a blank in midfield where there are loads of options.

Cavani I like but think I'd go Laca despite risk of rotation by preference.

      Nacho Laca Rashford?

      1. Weeb Kakashi
        • 10 Years

Cavani is a 2 week punt. Still not convinced by Laca though. The fixtures are not as easy as they look and there is still this Auba threat. Vardy over Nacho could be madness as you said. Maybe i am just trying to be different for the sake of it.

Id like to keep Cavani. Nacho in for Vardy. What would you do with the remaining cash?

Yeah the Vardy money seems wasted when Iheanacho is doing so well. Would allow the 4.2 mid to become something serious - maybe upgrade Philips to TAA too.
