Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m) requires assessment ahead of Manchester City’s Double Gameweek 32 meeting with Aston Villa.

The premium midfielder was forced off as Pep Guardiola’s men crashed out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage on Saturday.

Unfortunately for his 17.7% ownership, Manchester City’s manager was not overly positive in his post-match comments.

“He has pain now. Tomorrow we are going to make a test with the doctors but it doesn’t look good.” – Pep Guardiola

After Wednesday’s trip to Villa Park, Manchester City are not in Premier League action again until Gameweek 34 because their involvement in the EFL Cup final means they have no fixture in Blank Gameweek 33.

Ilkay Gündogan (£5.8m), Phil Foden (£6.0m) and Riyad Mahrez (£8.1m) were the key restees in attack for the Citizens on Saturday, the former pair appearing in the second half to no avail.

With neither playing more than 42 minutes, Gündogan and Foden look likely starters at Villa Park on Wednesday.

John Stones (£5.2m) was an unused substitute as Ruben Dias (£6.2m) paired with Aymeric Laporte (£6.0m) at centre-back.

Meanwhile, Chelsea also picked up an injury in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final, although arguably of less importance than Manchester City’s.

Thiago Silva (£5.6m) came off with a knock in the 88th minute, replaced by Kurt Zouma (£5.3m). Andreas Christensen (£4.7m) missed the tie with a muscle injury while César Azpilicueta (£5.9m) and Antonio Rüdiger (£4.7m) played 90 minutes.

Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) also featured for the whole game with Marcos Alonso (£5.7m) an unused substitute.

Ahead of facing Brighton on Tuesday night, key attackers Mason Mount (£7.2m), Hakim Ziyech (£7.9m) and Timo Werner (£9.2m) were treated to late rests between the 70th and 79th minute on Saturday, although the former did look somewhat uncomfortable as he left the field.

Kai Havertz (£8.2m) and Christian Pulisic (£8.3m) were both used as second-half substitutes.

Meanwhile, there were future Blank and Double Gameweek implications from Chelsea booking a place in the FA Cup final.

That match is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 15, which, as things currently stand according to the Premier League website, clashes with Gameweek 37, when Chelsea host Leicester (who are in FA Cup semi-final action against Southampton today).

However, Fantasy managers should keep an eye on latest fixture developments over the coming days considering recent stories in the media. Multiple sources are reporting the penultimate round of matches will be pushed back to the midweek of that week (May 18 and 19) to allow for fans to attend after future chances to the United Kingdom’s coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.

This could, in turn, push Gameweeks 35 and 36 later into the month of May. Chelsea are currently set to face Manchester City (away) and Arsenal (home) respectively across those two rounds.

Chelsea XI (3-4-2-1): Kepa; Rüdiger, T Silva, Azpilicueta; Chilwell, Jorginho, Kanté, R James; Mount (Pulisic 70′), Ziyech (Emerson 79′); Werner (Havertz 79′).

Manchester City XI (4-2-3-1): Steffen; B Mendy, Laporte, Dias, Cancelo; Rodri, Fernandinho; Sterling, De Bruyne (Foden 48′), Torres (Gündogan 64′); Jesus.

When would you WC this lot? I still have the FH chip, which I guess should be played for the GW36 blanks now.

    A) GW34 - easier to ditch TOT players this week if getting back on WC next week
    B) GW35 - latest info to optimise the DGWs

    Martinez, Pope
    Trent, Cancelo, Shaw, Coufal, Targett
    Auba, Son, Jota, Gundogan, Raphina
    Kane, Watkins, Bamford

    Bank 0.2m, 2FT, WC & FH

Probably in 34? Use your 2 frees to attack this week with some speculative punts and then get an additional week out of the wildcard than if playing it in 35.

I think 2FT this week to get Salah(c) makes sense. If keeping Son/Kane on the bench then I think I could hold the WC until 35 to make sure I get the best 11 out for the DGW.

The frustration of owning Mendy from 12-23 when Martinez hauled seemingly every week was the only thing that stopped me getting him in. He's a troll of the highest order.

Slim pickings really. I'd look at Alonso to Coady and upgrade Davis to Vydra. Wolves still have some good fixtures and Coady is nailed.

If I was going to a wolves def, I would probably go with Saiss. Same price as Coady now. I'm also considering a LEI def like Fofana or maybe Pereira. Plan is to upgrade the 3rd FWD spot to Bamford or Antonio once the Leeds fixture turn in 34 or Antonio back from injury

With the scenario presented in your question what you want above can't happen this week. You need to free funds up from somewhere to Bamford etc. So you might have to jump to Saiss or Lei def this week and take the risk.

Downgrading Alonso to 5.0def or less won't give me enough funds for a 3rd striker upgrade. I have plans to downgrade Son or Bruno to Raphinha for funds.

I can't see them shifting to a 4ATB anytime soon with 2 wins playing 5. I think their fixtures get tougher from now on so probably missed the boat on Wolves def

              • 6 Years
              5 years, 2 days ago

Yeah but my point is, is Saiss worth the risk when you can just get Coady?

Plus I can see them keeping CSs against Burnley and Brighton, so don't think the boat's gone yet

                5 years, 2 days ago

True with Coady being nailed over Saiss. I don't think they will keep a CS. Fulham and SHU attack is poor and still gave them chances

Zaha ís a fun call there

Getting him in ahead of the DGW in 35 not absolutely bonkers if you can bench in 34. Leicester are conceding and Palace have a record of taking them to the cleaners in seasons past.

Palace were a much better team, and Leicester were a worse one in season's past - wouldn't bother giving any relevance to previous meetings.

Factually wrong about Palace there but agreed past results have little bearing.

Also eying up Maddison but Leicester have been mediocre for quite a while now and just the SHU thumping disguises that and the emergence of Nacho. If Maddison comes back full strength I'll go there but otherwise swerve,

I was taking issue with your assertion about this season and past seasons really which simply doesn't stand up bar the Pardew calendar year team which was 5th in the league.

Look beyond that and it's a team that has always been justifiably down the bottom given minimal spend - only Burnley really come close to competing among teams that have been around a while.

Also right now they look really poor no question. But easy to forget they were comfortable mid table around 10th in the first half of the season and value for it. It's a tiny squad with an appalling injury record and the fall off in performances second half has been massive - oddly results have stayed fairly even but they've been achieved in quite different ways.

I tried to play Pep Roulette this week by second guessing what the starting XI would be for Chelsea and the knock on effect for the midweek game.

Thought for sure Gundo would play yesterday so I benched him.

Guaranteed to start now in midweek with KDB injured and him having a decent rest v's Chelsea.

He's gunna punish me big time isn't he! Oh well, at least he's been sold by a huge number of players so it won't hurt my rank too much.

It'll certainly be interesting to see if he makes the bench against Brighton - that was the real oddity to me.

Yay, Laca up front in his own, not jinxing him but I expect nothing less than a brace from him 😀

Damn, I saw someone saying they got Leno to avoid Mendy & Tuchel pulling a random rotation.

Safe to say, this puts any Holding CS at more risk too!

Wtf, why is Leno not playing? I hate this game.

A random new FPL chip has popped up in my mind:

Quadruple captain chip, but points only count for the first 45 minutes. Any events in the second half from the captain wont count.

          Thoughts on this?

Defenders needs 60 mins to earn a CS

No wait. Lets make it spicier. Points only count for first 20 minutes and last 20 minutes and any minutes accumulated in injury time after HT and FT. How about that?

Chips could do with a refresh. Only 1 change in the last 7 or so years (FH replacing All Out Attack)

With 2FT 2.4m ITB, the plan for next week currently is Son + X --> Salah + Y. Only needs to be a 0.9m downgrade to fund it...

          Martinez // Forster
TAA Rudiger Shaw // Dias Johnson
Bruno Jota Lingard // Gundo Son
          Vardy Vydra // Kane

Thoughts? Vardy probably the obvious one to go if he fails again. Obviously if i went for a more significant downgrade, would also have funds to swap out Gundo (for example) for a hit to get 11 starters next week (at 10 after the proposed 2FT move)

Leno rightly benched for not being sold instead of Martinez.

Finally Arsenal realised what a big mistake they made by selling dEmigod!!!
