Joe and Seb are joined by Conor, aka FPLPrince from the FPL Fan Show, to look at the key issues facing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers ahead of Gameweek 33.

It has been a big week for Tottenham Hotspur, including the sacking of boss Jose Mourinho and the appointment of Ryan Mason as interim first-team coach.

Meanwhile, their top scorer Harry Kane (£11.8m) is injured, ahead of the north London side’s League Cup final with Manchester City. This Wembley encounter also means both finalists blank in FPL this weekend, along with their scheduled league opponents Southampton and Fulham.

For FPL managers, this presents a raft of challenges ahead of Gameweek 33. Do they keep hold of Kane, even though his return date from injury is unknown? Is Son Heung-min (£9.5m) surplus to requirements or will he flourish under Mason’s temporary charge? And could Gareth Bale (£9.2m) and even Dele Alli (£7.4m) become FPL assets once again?

Joe, Seb and Conor try to make sense of how Spurs fit in with their plans, especially given the club’s favourable fixtures from Gameweek 34.

To compound matters, there are further Blank Gameweeks and Doubles on the horizon. The Scoutcast trio explain their tentative plans for combating these further complications.

Meanwhile, attacking defenders are on the agenda. Their potential to offer returns at both ends of the pitch could provide the boost FPL managers need to steal a march on their mini-league rivals.

In addition, the Scoutcast crew look back on their Gameweek 32 highs and lows and also reveal their upcoming transfer and captaincy plans. The next four fixtures are frisked and Conor takes his turn to pick a differential.

      Nope

Not starting the last one is warning enough.

Also Burnley are quietly slipping back into the red zone. Relegation highly unlikely of course but a change of emphasis for Dyche could be on the cards. He could choose to set up rather differently now on.

My plan was always this week but still talk of double?

Exactly in the same boat. I am chasing in my ML so for me I think I would rather take a bet on the higher upside (DGW) over playing it safe this upcoming week.

Annoying that there is still not more info though, but GW35 could be big with some interesting teams having doubles.

I have 2FTs this week though and barring injury could possibly field 11.

Plan has been to play it this week for a long time and going through with it. Even if I wanted to hold out for 35, my hand has been forced by Dawson red, plus Alonso and now even Maddison being rotation risks. Plenty of nice fixtures to target this week and I'll be able to bring in some Pool + United players without having to play them in what could well be another 0-0 between them in 34 (cue a 4-3 thriller with Salah and Fernandes hat tricks in 34 after I've said that)

I’ve got Mendy and Forster as GK’s.

Do I need to sell one for the upcoming week or is Mendy going to get his place back?

I had briefly considered Meslier but Martinez more likely to secure bonus and clean sheets. Patricio is another who could be a tidy differential as Wolves fixtures are none to shabby either and defnce now hopefully back to the old line up should be more tight.

  5. LC1

    Mendy
    Coady Phillips* Holding Coady
    Salah(C) Jota Lingard Bruno
    Iheanacho Vydra

    Forster Dias Son Kane

    2 FTs and 0.7 ITB.

Thinking of Mendy and Dias to Martinez and Targett

I will definitely need at least 1 playing player on the bench as Phillips most likely won\t play and there's a chance Jota / Rudiger or someone being benched.

    Any feedback is much appreciated!

Martinez is still the highest scoring GK in the game and gets a lot of save points / bonus points.

Villa are also one of the few teams with a guaranteed DGW before the end of the season.

At this point, one could look at the number of fixtures left for specific clubs, and stocking up on the ones who have played fewer games is a solid strategy for the rest of the season.

        I'd steer well clear personally.

His ppg is still impressive but Palace are approaching games quite differently than early season - whole different mentality. The match with WH which could have been another 7 goal concession changed the outlook.

The only fixture I'd want him for would be SHU but it's very hard fro a team to switch from safety first to attack. Had been eying him up as a possible TC in 35 but now wary of simple selecting him.

Any thoughts on my FH team, tried to cover most of the main rank threats but does it look a bit too template at the moment?Chasing in mini leagues so would appreciate your recommendations of one-week differentials for 33. Already set on playing FH in 33 due the state of my team this week (only Martinez and JLingz held their places) so not looking for comments suggesting a different chip tactic.

Tight call but was a bit concerned that Trossard went off just before 60 last night whilst Welbeck definitely had at least two decent chances to score and hit the woodwork too. In a gameweek where it looks like quite a few different teams have potential to keep clean sheets (Villa, WBA, Leicester, Pool, Wolves, Burnley, Brighton) I'm a bit apprehensive to double up but Brighton definitely tempt the most.

His history of ankle injuries would suggest that he's not going to be 100%

          fair call
would probably buy someone who is in better form that vardy. would've suggested Laca but he's potentially out too
I have both kane and laca so headache this week!
happy to bench kane as i had always planned for blank and will play extra defender instead

All but went with him in 30 but think Newcastle are a more dangerous prospect than Villa in attack and the cs perhaps more dubious than it was then. The defensive record is dodgy enough.

Newcastle created plenty against both Spurs and Burnley.

That said if ASM is out I might look at it again.

Praying that he is going to start.........otherwise I'm fielding Vydra and rotation-prone Rudiger as my only hope of getting 11 out

Eugh, honestly I'm probably just sucking up my mistake and going back to martinez. So so annoying though, need to save that transfer

Everton, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Southampton are the only DGW teams left if there are no more postponements until the rest of the season.

      This is subject to change.

Lei, Mun, Ars and Che should also have a DGW followed by a blank. If you plan accordingly, you can bring players from those teams and bench them/get rid of them the following week

Also Chelsea and Leicester with a GW 37 blank (they were supposed to play each other anyway).

        Toying with him

Not sure I've ever owned him -seems remiss of me.

Greenwood has the air of the supernatural about him when he's in the zone - looked like the next incarnation of Sergio Aguero at the tail end of last season

Think he has another gear or two to go up and can kick on in the run in & emerge as close to being fully established for next season

Maddison is a fantastic pick too though if Covid gate has fully blown over

As is Jota who will probably be 8.5/9.0 next season

And Siggy as mentioned is hitting his stride as well

Add in Dunk as an option. Last 5 returns

      10
      8
      1
      8
      6

Brighton are now living up to defensive stats. Prime this week and good in 35 (better than Coady then anyway). Surely better than Coufal.

I am thinking of Dunk and also Veltman as he seems to be playing as more of a midfielder.

Who should I go for do you think?

        Thanks

Veltman is also on my radar

His positive stats though almost all date to that one game against Palace (a truly bizarre match) and I don't think he's much more than a 6 pointer with just occasional/random attacking threat. Might get him in if it allows me a significantly better choice in midfield from 34.

I still have too much money in defence overall.
