FPL winner Simon March’s team reveal: £5.0m ‘keeper, Barnes in and Watkins out?

The 2014/15 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) champion, Simon March, discusses his Gameweek 1 draft in our latest team reveal video on YouTube.

Simon chats to Joe about his 3-4-3 set-up for the opening weekend, including his slightly leftfield pick of a £5.0m goalkeeper when so many of us are plumping for a £4.5m option between the sticks.

Burnley’s defence is represented, while the former FPL winner has eschewed attacking full-back options in the form of Lucas Digne (£5.5m) and Luke Shaw (£5.5m) and opted for the steady drip-feed of points from Ruben Dias (£6.0m).

Leicester City’s fit-again Harvey Barnes (£7.0m) – who scored on Wednesday – also makes an appearance alongside some more ‘template’ midfielders.

Up top, Simon discusses his thoughts on Danny Ings‘ (£8.0m) move to Aston Villa and what it might mean for his initial Ollie Watkins (£7.5m) pick.

Ivan Toney (£6.5m) also makes an appearance in the three-man frontline.

    I think the best balance formation is a 4-3-3. What formation are you going? You can get a solid front line and defence with 3 high priced assets in midfield.

      I’ve been torn between 352 and 343 if I was to go 4 at the back I’d probably go 442 there are definitely some good value options in defence.

      A standard 343 but with 2x4.5 defenders and a 5.0 midf on the bench to give full flexibility.

      I'm going with the tried and tested 343. Having massive problems picking my three forwards. One is Toney and the two others are changing daily.

      5 in midfield. Full of value options and underpriced players. Plus get an extra point per goal and point for cleansheet so makes sense to focus majority of budget here.

    I cant quite believe the team you can get without Bruno. bruno > greenwood gives me a nice 4.5 to spread out. Very tempting

      .....and if you take out Salah for Jota you get an extra 4.5m too.....

      Seeing a lot or No Bruno, nobody Salah-less.....

      Can't recall a season before when the top points scorer is so easy to ignore.

        Fair shout - I think Bruno's form in the run in (and euro's) may be a factor. Also the fact that Bruno started the game priced at 10m last season is a reason why I am struggling to justify his 12m valuation.

      going with just two premiums and rotating the band on them … can see Bruno or Salah becoming Kane from time to time as fixtures swing, and vice versa

      Yeh that’s all well and good but if you have other fires to put out then you might not get to make that move to Son.

      If I don’t go Mane I’ll have Son with one of Mahrez or Havertz alongside.

          Mane> Son is an easy move in wk 3.

          But if I spread the funds and start with Son I’d use the rest to get Mahrez/Havertz from the start.
