Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) opened his account for Chelsea and Mason Greenwood (£7.5m) scored his second goal of the season on a busy Sunday of Premier League football.

However, it was a day to forget for those who handed Bruno Fernandes (£12.1m) the armband, as the Portuguese returned a solitary Fantasy Premier League (FPL) point at Southampton.

Our usual, more detailed Scout Notes will follow for all of today’s games but in the meantime, our long-dormant Scoreboard series rounds up the key goings-on.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL, Ragabolly’s excellent and ever-expanding website, and our own Premium Members Area.

GOALS, ASSISTS AND PROJECTED BONUS

KEY FPL TAKEAWAYS

  • Paul Pogba (£7.6m) provided another assist, his fifth of the season, as he continued in an advanced role at St. Mary’s Stadium. In fact, no player on the pitch had more penalty area touches (9) than the Frenchman today.
  • Budget defender Tino Livramento (£4.0m) started again for Southampton, keeping Kyle Walker-Peters (£5.0m) on the bench. Encouragingly for his owners, Walker-Peters replaced left-back Romain Perraud (£5.0m) on 82 minutes, with the former Chelsea man seeing out the full 90 ahead of next week’s visit to Newcastle United.
  • Dele Alli (£6.5m) scored his first league goal in 17 months as Nuno Espirito Santo made a winning return to Molinuex. Surprisingly, it came from the penalty spot, having won it himself after being brought down by Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jose Sa (£5.0m). With Harry Kane (£12.4m) arriving off the bench in the second-half, it’s debatable exactly how important this development actually is, but it’s certainly something worth monitoring in the coming weeks.
  • It is now back-to-back clean sheets for Spurs, with Hugo Lloris (£5.5m) collected maximum bonus on both occasions. The Frenchman has already made 10 saves this season, a total no other goalkeeper can beat.
  • Despite two losses on the bounce for Wolves, today’s performance was encouraging, with Nelson Semedo (£5.0m) particularly lively in the final-third. However, his return to Bruno Lage’s starting XI meant that £4.0m option, Ki-Jana Hoever, dropped to the bench.
  • Reece James‘ (£5.5m) 18-point FPL haul was the biggest of his career to date, with Thomas Tuchel confirming after the match that the wing-back was fine after his collision with Nuno Taveres (£4.5m).
  • Lukaku marked his return to Chelsea with a goal after just 15 minutes and went to to register eight shots, with seven of those arriving in the box. Next up for the Belgian is Liverpool (a), Aston Villa (h) and Spurs (a).
  • Spurs and Chelsea joined Brentford and Liverpool as the only sides with two Premier League clean sheets to their name so far this season.

INJURY WATCH

Son Heung-min (£10.0m) left the pre-match warm up prematurely, but came out for the first-half as expected and featured for 72 minutes.

Having been asked after the game how he was, Nuno said:

“I’m sorry I cannot answer that. For now he’s alright. In the warm-up he had a strange feeling but he was ok to play. I don’t know. Let’s assess him. I didn’t realise. I’m sorry.”

Team-mate Cristian Romero (£5.0m) missed out on the matchday squad as a precaution with a minor knee injury suffered in the UEFA Europa Conference League defeat at Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday night.

Ben White (£4.5m) was missing for Arsenal after testing positive for Covid, while during the match, Kieran Tierney (£5.0m) limped off on 65 minutes with what appeared to be an ankle issue.

At Chelsea, N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) and Hakim Ziyech (£7.4m) both came off the bench in the second-half after being injured in the UEFA Super Cup.

    Good morning people.

Is Livramento a good 4.0 playing option?
With a bit of a fixture turn, is Bamford a decent option now?

    Thanks!

Livramento yes, Bamford possibly, but Raphina better and I prefer lower or higher price point players in striker spot also better mids for that price point (and lower)

That's what I am thinking - Raph or Bam. Does Raph definitely miss 1 gameweek because of his international exertions?

2 bonus was vc a gift from fpl tower. Shaw did nothing yesterday. Salisu & Livramento deserved 2 baps instead tbh

You don’t understand the bonus system if you think Shaw did nothing, you are clearly wrong.

His free kicks created chances a metric used in the BPs system. Pogba should have put atleast one of them away.

1 chance created deserved 2 baps?

Salisu clear a f ball off the line, more blocked shots, more interceptions, 3 clearances, less dispossession etc

Shaw did nothing yesterday, it is just a gift from fpl tower

FPL just take the stats Opta give them and apply the same formula every week. Saying it's rigged makes no sense whatsoever.

I’ve gotten away with no Shaw up to now, but got 2FT this week and seriously considering selling Digne for Shaw.

I think it’s only a matter of time before Shaw starts hauling and it worries me that Digne will just bumble on picking up 1s and 2s.

Wouldn't want to play Ayling maybe ever so I would want to upgrade Tsimikas to a 5 that you fancy (hope for the price rise first). A tonne of options.

Mahrez can go to more or less anybody can't he. Maybe you could drop down to fund the Kane/Lukaku kitty.

Leeds just need Llorente and Phillips to be fit and back. Either next game or straight after the break.

Ole had said Cavani is back in training so he's probably gonna be starting gameweek 3(if not we might see him by 60-65)
Probably mason makes way for him? Doesn't make sense to buy greenwood now right?

It's hard to know. I'm of the opinion that even though it seems he wants Greenwood to be a striker (which he's well capable of doing) that he won't keep playing Pogba wide left and at least while Rashford is out will keep playing Greenwood wide if Cavani and Martial are fit unless he wants him up top instead of him. So I think he's safe and it's Pogba or the other two that will be impacted (in terms of their positioning or benchings) and not him

Not very often but Sancho might play there, I think he spent the end of last season on the left (around 10 games maybe) and it was productive for him and he was there for at least a spell yesterday (might have been the whole time he was on but I'm not sure, was a bit quiet), but he's been productive across the whole front line so that's not a surprise.

Is Reece James nailed? I mean starts every single prem match?
If so, I will probably find a way to get him in before Lukaku.
CS, BPS, Assists, Goals at 5.5. I know this is based on a monster haul last night, but this is not a game to wait and see with possible bargains like that, could replace Shaw and even tempted to do TAA to James. Lukaku was great, but requires surgery elsewhere for me, so he can wait IMO

The goals bit is a tad optimistic sure he gets forward but that's only his 2nd goal and his previous one came on the first game last season. The real risk with him is if he doesn't start and he's on the bench he does tend to end up on the pitch for short cameos. Nobody in that defence bar probably Mendy is nailed on which is a shame as they are clean sheet gold.

What are we thinking if City don't actually end up buying a striker? With the way Jesus played on the right against Norwich I'm starting to think the roulette is getting worse as more games pass. Yes it was Norwich but he looked more sharp and involved than he normally does no matter the opposition, and even with rumours of him leaving Bernardo played well and showed a little of how good he can be which he struggled to do last season

City attack remain a nightmare to predict, look at Mahrez being benched but coming on and scoring. Foden and KDB to come back soon and complicate it further. Stick with Dias and defence for now, too many non-City attacking assets doing well at decent prices to make me think twice at the moment. People say Kane at City would be a lock in their teams and auto captain, I think that would come with potential rotation risk also.

I'm thinking an awful lot of rotation and experimentation until a formula is seized upon. It ought to be much the same as last season, but maybe with less dependence on KDB who may have fitness concerns.
To put it another way, I'd stay clear for a while.

I'm at 2.5K thanks to my BB with Bissy and Duffy. It was my non-template players who have given me the edge. I don't expect it to last. I'll just play it conservative, no sudden movements, stick to the pre-season plan and see how far it gets me.

Way to early to consolidate after 2 weeks! At 7k you are around 20 points from 200K. You are one bad captain decision away from a huge drop. If a popular transfer in that you don't have hauls you could drop also (and repeat week after week unless you are in simlilar position mid season). Set realistic expectations and enjoy the good start, but be honest with yourself, this might be your highest rank all season (sorry!)

I have the same def and think I'm just going to leave it for now as I don't see much upside using FTs on it. Doesn't look bad for this week and next if White is back for GW4.

I want to hold Toney but his fixtures also look pretty grim now

Away at villa Brighton and wolves who both look really good defensively this year

Very tempted by Toney to armtrong and then re assess after the ib with 2 free’s, means I can actually get a 4.5 defender then as well, instead of having to move to another 4.0

    1. Andy_Social
      • 14 Years
      5 years, 1 day ago

His fixtures are the same as they were 2 weeks ago. What were you expecting?
I've got him only because of his price. I don't really see Armstrong or anyone cheaper as an improvement. If Toney gets me a goal and an assist in 4 matches, I'll be fine with that. I'll ship him out in a proper 2FT restructure probably involving Lukaku down the line.

I think his fixtures now look worse, wolves were billed as ‘ultra attacking’ before the season but they now look pretty solid

There was also the notion Brentford will play really attacking football but I’m not sure that’s the case

I was expecting he might have got 1 assist or goal by now... you can’t say you were expecting him 2 blank twice and drop in price, or you wouldn’t have got him

        1. Andy_Social

Well I was punting on a goal and an assist over the first 4. I'm a bit disappointed, but not surprised. I'm more focused on a strategy to get Lukaku than faff about with a third striker. If you don't have any bigger plans then by all means go for it.
