With Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m) set for a spell on the sidelines and a ban ruling Michail Antonio (£7.9m) out of Gameweek 5, many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are unexpectedly in the market for a new forward.
At the time of writing, the pair are the two most-sold forwards in FPL, but should we be selling them, and if so, who are the best replacements?
In this, our latest Fantasy Football Scout Members article, we’ll attempt to answer those questions.
Would you rather A or B?
A)
Sanchez / Steele
TAA / Cancelo / White / Livramento / Marcal
Traoré / Raphina / Salah / Benrahma / Bissouma
Ronaldo / Lukaku / Dennis
B)
Sanchez / Steele
TAA / Alonso / White / Livramento / Marcal
Salah / Jota / Torres / Gallagher / Bissouma
Ronaldo / Antonio / Bamford
A.
B
B Raph for Torres

B. Don't like Raphina pick
Worth it pulling WC?
Squad,
Sanchez
Trent, Shaw, Dier
Bruno, Salah, Benny, Greenwood
Ings, Antonio, Bamford
Steele, Gilmour, Williams, Amartey,
.1
WC squad,
Sanchez or Ramsdale,
Alonso, Trent, Marcel,
Salah, Greenwood, Gray, Benrahma,
Ronaldo, Lukaku
Steele, Gallagher, Williams, Livramento
.1
Missing a midfielder in that WC ?
Or striker even.
Too much Havana club 7 🙂
Gallagher, Scarlett or another 4.5 striker
I like it
Too risky to go Ramsdale, cracking fixtures & huge differential
Yeah I personally wouldn't bother with the risk. Can never trust Arsenal defence anyway. Sanchez is a solid pick.
Maybe Raph instead of Benraham of you can afford it?
*Benrahma
Who else is in starting line up on wc?
Scarlett or another 4.5
They don’t play tho? I think to have taa salah Ron and rom you need to go 442 - I’ve got gray sarr raph in mid with salah and a strong 4 defenders
Cheers will look again.
Could do with a quick look over my WC being played. Thoughts?
Sanchez, Steele
Dias, TAA, Rudiger, White, Williams
Salah, Gray, Greenwood, Bissouma, McArthur
Ronaldo, Lukaku, Dennis
Similar to what I’m looking at. I’ve gone for Sarr and raph over Greenwood and Mcarthur
Personally wouldn't have Luk for the next 2. I'd rather spread the cash and choose Jimi or Jesus in his place.
Thinking of an Lukaku against Spurs!
Downgrade Dias and probe midfield
Will DCL drop in price today?
Looks close but lots of wc’s being played so hard to say
Do we think Christensen gets benched again v spurs ?
Nah
It is possible
Any reason why people are keeping Benrahma?
Many probably will grt rid next week
Keep him for MUN and then get rid vs lee BRE. That doesn't make sense.
I intend to keep until 7. There are more urgent fires.
Could be OOP with Antonio out
Can't see any obvious replacements and other fires to put out.
He was the hottest property a week ago
Looking at getting rid myself
I've been trying to get rid for weeks but higher priorities keep appearing.
This week I have Antonio and DCL for example.
GTG?
Sanchez
Ayling TAA Shaw Duffy
Raphinha Salah(c) Pogba Torres Traore
Ronaldo
Bench: Coufal Antonio Perica
0 FT, 1.1m ITB
Just ditched for raphina. Hoping nobody tells me that was a bad idea
Why aren't we allowed swears on here? Even the 's' one is blocked. I thought this place was to vent.
Even Mark says naughty words on Blackbox from time to time.
Piss off
Swears are for chavs mate.

Will my team survive against all the Lukaku/Ronaldo mayhem?
Planning to get Lukaku in GW7. Did Wilson to Bamford earlier this week.
Sa
TAA Shaw AWB
Salah(c) Bruno Raph Gray Gilmour
Bamford Ings
Foster Amartey Livra Antonio
0itb 0ft
Must say, for a members article there wasn't anything too insightful that a non-member couldn't have worked out from the comments section.
The case for most articles I assume, even xG etc. data is easy to find now for us plebs
Ha, that's not what I meant its more you're not missing something.
I'm spit balling here but let's say insight into a 2 transfer strategy (2 free or a hit), what could that open up if you 4.5 DCL or Antonio. It could be based on upgrades at price points or on the template squad.
Something a bit different to Bamford, Jimenez.
Is sarr a good pick for the next 3? In search of a differential to catch up in my mini league.
For sure. Will tick along nicely.
He has underwhelmed so far.
For sure but 3 easy fixtures would be tempting to punt on right? They’re the worst 3 side’s defensively in the league right now.
I got him on wildcard last week so hope you're right.
For those planning on WC GW7:
How many Chelsea are you planning on bringing in? I’m starting to think I might be able to keep my WC as I’m really only interested in a defender and Lukaku.
Double defence and Lukaku is the way to go.
Same
Same
Sanchez
Shaw, TAA, Tierney, Williams
Mount, Jota, Torres, Gray
Ronaldo, Lukaku
Bench, Foster, Sissoko, Livra, Antonio
1 FT, 1.8 ITB. Any suggestions?
Would play Sissoko ahead of Williams.
Yh
If you had no WC, we’re on a -12 AND still had DCL and Antonio on your bench, would you use FH 😆 asking for a friend
Ouch, that is rough.
No. More use to you in a DGW.
Even with this lot
Sanchez
Trent, Shaw, Coufal, Semedo
Salah, Jota, Raphina, Gallagher, Bissouma
Ronaldo
Steele, Antonio, DCL, Livramento -12!
Lol dude, you're worse than Ole haha
😆 😆
Yeah, I agree
DCL to Bamford... or Jimenez ?
Do you have Bamford or Traore/Trincao?
---------Sanchez----------
Trent Shaw Coady Christensen
Salah Jota Raphina Sarr
Ronaldo DCL***
------------------------------------
Steel Antonio Liver Mendy
id personally go Jimenez because you have Raph
ye I can spread the net wider... I actually thought about bringing both in for a hit ...
-4 to do DCL ---> Jimenez
or play Allan?
Any reason why anybody with a 4.5 striker seems to ahve Scarlett?
I was going to go Locadia, with Brighton very few striker options maybe if any are going to get any minutes at all it will be him?
Anybody?
people putting almost zero thought into it... striker is generally perma bench fodder...
Fair point about Scarlett, but Locadia is really bad. He couldn't even break into the XI at Cincinnati, who are one of the worst teams in MLS.
Thanks mate! Guess there none with any chance of playing
always go for one with lowest ownership as less chance of him dropping to 4.4. Guess Scarlett as he makes bench and Kane/Son only options in squad?
Archer may get the odd cameo at Villa as Davis always injured and Wesley shipped out on loan
Although he has been underwhelming, but sarr against the 3 worst defences in the next 3 might be a great differential!
Just realised im in an incredibly rare position where ive got a player in 9 out of the 10 fixtures this gameweek. Not sure how i feel about this!
Feel good and enjoy.
...and nobody facing each other i meant to add
442 WC squad?
Ramsdale,
Alonso, Trent, Matip, Semedo
Salah, Greenwood, Gray, Gallagher
Ronaldo, Lukaku
Guita, Sissoko, Williams, Scarlett
.1
Prefer Jota to Greenwood and not a fan of Matip pick but otherwise I like it
Matip could be Rudiger once I know Ramsdale plays, got .5 in Guita as backup
Matip better value than VVD at this point and much cheaper. You get him in for cleanies and the odd attacking return.
Its not Matip himself I don’t like, just that he blocks any potential Jota move
Jota will be rotated within the next two weeks or so.
Matip as long as he stays fit will play every game.
As long as you have TAA and Salah then 3rd LFC spot comes down to who you can afford when it comes to the rest of your team.
Ha ha ha, Matip staying fit. I’m a Liverpool fan. It won’t happen.
Smooth...
I hope it didn’t take long, as this sucks.
Won’t Chilwell start to rotate with Alonso?
Could go Rudi?
Or James?
He really is bit part player looking at minutes
Matip + Alonso is 1 rotation risk too many at the back
Alonso rested tonight & Matip has 20 points from first 4 games was nailed last season when fit?
Matip barely played last year, he's most certainly first choice but his minutes will be managed. The same with Alonso.
Reckon Alonso will play Spurs then?
UTD defence does not seem to have cleanies in their back pocket and their fixtures coming up are not looking promising.
Next week Shaw > James
Shaw against Villa has haul written all over it
It doesn’t tho does it ^
So that is one game. The rest of the fixtures is like eating burned toast.
Like Newcastle?
Chelsea is where I see good points
United were weird last season defensively, lots of CS vs the top teams but leaky vs the small ones. Could repeat this year again.
This
Salah's worst season 22 G 6 A = 231 points in 3077 mins
Lukaku's best season 25 G 6 A = 221 points in 3266 mins
With Elliot out, I'm tempted to change by premium from Lukaku to Salah, this would be the week to do it right with the fixtures for the next 2?
Lukaku is a completely different player now and will have his best season
I agree he's better, but 25 is still a great season and a lot of goals; I do wonder if he'll improve on that total this year, still don't know if he has pens either or not as well.
This is a bit silly.
🙂 Is it unfair to compare the two?
Lukaku is just a completely different player now at a mad level.
*flat track bully Lukaku to reveal himself in the next 2?
fair enough. He's definitely improved, it's just you rarely see top strikers surpass that 25 goal mark in the PL for a season. Maybe I'm underestimating Lukaku's potential.
Yeah but he’s got next level supply
Easy one probably but play one of:-
A)Ben white (BUR A)
B)Williams (WAT H)
Isn't White notoriously bad in the air? Burnley will probably exploit that; both will probably concede, maybe just flip a coin
A
A) Dier -> Ayling (play Sissoko)
B) Antonio & Dier -> Bamford & White (-4)
So do you prefer ayling or white???
Long term yeah
Thoughts on DCL and Reguilon > TAA and Hwang?
Not convinced about Hwang but can’t keep missing out on TAA…
For free? There must be some other way to get TAA
Wouldn’t go for Hwang
-4…
Hwang is not going to be a starter just yet, if at all
just get Dennis, hes not great but looks reasonably nailed on and has fixtures
What are the chances of Spurs v Chelsea being 0-0?
Spurs will concede
Might end 1-0/2-0 to Chelsea
Agree with this
Nuno will park the bus but still chelsea will score
Lukaku says hi
hard to call, Spurs could even win, a draw seems likely, 1-1
is son back for it ?
not sure. But I can see Son scoring in this, if he does start
Nil
Good.
Could see a lot of goals in this one. If chelsea can score one the game should open nicely. It is a London darby after all.
Over the next three game weeks
A) Benrahma (MUN,lee,BRE) .1/.2 price drop
B) Raphinha -4 (new, WHU, WAT) potential .1 rise
Tempted to say raphinha but unsure
Tough call isn’t it? I’m thinking Raph too. Also I’m likely to WC him in gw8 so want him at 6.5 and no higher ideally. Ben will defo drop after this gw
id get Raphina in ... hes due IMO
Wildcard active:
Sanchez / Steele
TAA / Semedo / White / Livramento / Marcal
Jota /Gray / Salah / Greenwood / Sissoko
Ronaldo / Lukaku / Locadia
Good to go or maybe lose one of Jota or Greenwood to raise funds for a 3rd foward or premium defender?
One of Jota/greenwood need to be dropped to Raphinha
Then do marcal > James/Rudiger
Thoughts on this XI for next gameweek only?
Ramsdale
Trent, Dias, Cancelo, Saiss
Salah, Torres, Jota, Raphina
Ronaldo, Bamford
4m, Omobamidele, Gilmour, 4.5 fodder
3 pool 3 City
Free hit?
Potentially
I'd go for Semedo over Saiss, but yeah about as good as you can get.
That allows me .4 itb. Would you use that anywhere else?
can't really see anywhere tbh, an extra .1 could get you Sa for Ramsdale I guess
Not without Dias to Laporte or Bamford to Jiminez
not worth it then tbh
Kdb, if fit, is very tempting.
