We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

SAKA OUT WITH COVID

Bukayo Saka (£6.7m) has withdrawn from the England squad after testing positive for Covid-19.

An ill Saka had been isolating from the rest of the squad at St George’s Park since Wednesday and has now left the camp.

The midfielder should still be back in time for Gameweek 31, as Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture is against Crystal Palace on Monday 4 April.

The current Premier League rules state that players still need to isolate for five days after testing positive, with a return to play at that point also dependent on the production of two negative tests.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Fabian Schar (£4.3m) withdrew from the Switzerland squad with an adductor issue.

INTERNATIONAL ACTION UNDERWAY

The March international break got underway in earnest on Thursday and continues through the night with World Cup qualifying action from South America.

Earlier, Son Heung-min (£10.9m) was on the scoresheet yet again as an already qualified South Korea beat Iran, while wins for Portugal and Sweden ensure that they’ll be at full strength again next Tuesday for the decisive World Cup play-off matches. Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m), Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.2m), Diogo Jota (£8.3m) and Bernardo Silva (£7.1m) all got extended run-outs against Turkey and will be expected to start again next week.

In case you’re wondering why there was no Joao Cancelo (£6.9m): he was suspended but will return against North Macedonia, shock conquerors of Italy, on Tuesday.

    As the gameweek nears

Jimi + Mahrez or Son to Kane + Kulu (-4 hit)

    Sa/(Foster)
    Cancelo/Robertson/Rudiger/Tierney/(Ait Nouri)
    Mahrez/Salah/Son/Saka/(Ramsey)
    Toney/Broja/(Jiménez)

Hi there. This may prove academic with players missing due to Covid/injury, but for now field one:

    1) Doherty (NEW)
    2) Tierney (cry)
    3) Broja (lee)

Not sure who's around but I can't work out best chip strategy....please help
Have been going with FH33 WC34 BB36 but not confident getting 3 strikers out in 36 and would probably have at least double Spurs who face Liverpool (excellent fixtures before and after). Can I navigate FH36 somehow instead?
Also don't have the squad for an earlier BB.
    What's the play

    Ramsdale Steer
    Trent Robbo Doherty White Livra
    Salah Son Saka Raph Kulu
    Watkins Toney Dennis

the table Pras put together is the main thing to watch for at 29:52 imo. Shows the chip strategies for the 4 most common scenarios of chips remaining for FPL managers and which teams to target for transfers.

Team dependent of course and decisions to be made, but provides a good structure to make those decisions.

Based on you having WC, BB & FH and not confident on strikers for GW36 I would WC31, BB33 and FH36.

    FH vs BB GW36

The most annoying part for using FH in gw36 is I cannot use the 2nd FH in GW37, although I understand the power of FH in gw36.

    2 FH & BB left.

        Yes, nearly only this option.

I am so worried of benching a wrong sgw player in gw33, and not sure about what will be my team like in gw36.

        Finger-crossed.

    Loving this draft for GW31...

    Pickford
Robertson, Van Dijk, Cancelo, Stones, Chalobah
    Salah, Havertz, Sancho
    Kane, Weghorst

When you stand back i think you may have to make another compromise in defence to improve your goalkeeper and second forward in that line up.

For 1-week, it looks alright to me. Pope doesnt offer anything extra over Pickford (due to Man City) and no alternatives for Weghorst in that price range. I can go for Kulu over Weghorst in 5-4-1 but having a DGW forward is fun 😀

Unfortunately they only tend to flag availability once lineups are announced 30mins before start. You can make changes after that though, deadline is exact time the match starts. Cricinfo is useful for predicted 11s & availability

The new chips (2x pts for all batters/bowlers/WKS etc) seem to be time-limited & staggered. I think either the 1st game / RCB v PBKS are best to target initially

Yes you can. The chips are in addition to captaincy, so when you play this chip all your batters get 2x pts & if your captain is a batter he gets 4x

Is there a deadline system or the game just continues till end allowing to make transfers as per our convenience? Cant find any info on deadlines.

Deadlines for transfers/captaincy changes are at the start time of each match (so you can see lineups). Then it locks for a few mins, then opens for next match. Can make transfers whenever you want - you'll see some people top the early leaderboards by blowing through 11 changes per match. But when you run out, that's it, no "hits" or anything

I am able to see a Dustbin/Delete icon for a team when I click a team name. But when I click a GW number, it sorts by difficulty instead of displaying the Dustbin/Delete icon.

Without clicking on the team name or Gameweek number, I am never able to see any dustbin icon.

        What am I missing?

You dont have to click on number, it should be available just above it. Not sure how to share an image here.

          Its like this
          ------ icon icon icon

I understand what you are saying. Unfortunately, my issue here is that I have 'never' seen that icon whenever I have tried before. And I can't see it today as well. On several scout videos, folks talk about it as the most obvious thing, but I just don't see it on the season ticker.

This only works on the pop-out fixture ticker - the 3 dots in top right corner. Doesnt seem to work on fixture ticker in members tools. May be mobile only

Brilliant. Thanks! I have been trying in Members Area for ages. It worked like a charm on the pop out ticker on home page. All of what Holmes mentioned was applicable there.

                    Thanks both of you.

That's interesting, do you think the tone or nature of commenting has changed much in a decade?

It was the cliffhanger of a dramatic end to a season.

Really a pivotal point when English Premier League football exploded around the world 10 years ago.

the majority of the comments nowadays in all of social platforms are irony, attention seeking and provoking. Expressing the true and original intent can be seen barely.

Roberts is just as nailed as Tarkowski (who is 2 yellows away from a suspension) and offers more attacking threat

    Planning on WC31 or WC32.

    DDG
    TAA Cancelo Rudiger White
    Son Maddison Raph Kulu
    Watkins Laca
    3.9 Jimenez Sanchez Gilmour

Should l go Maddison/Jimenez > KDB/Weghorst for a hit and postpone WC or just WC this week?

    Sa/ Ramsdale

    TAA, Robbo, Livra, Bavies, Rudiger

    Salah, Son, Bowen, Saka, Rapha

    King, Weghorst, Broja.

    BB 36, FH2 in 33.

I still have WC and FH and Kane is the one player in their team that I fear. So I will be doing Son to Kane for a -4.

Is it more dgw distraction with Burnley?

3 games are okay, Eve, Nor and Southampton.

But the bonus games of Manchester City and away at West Ham are much less likely to help.

Objectively you'd pick West Ham against Eve, bre, Burnley if it wasn't for the hope of extra returns in the Burnley doubles across gw31-33.

But that's 4 extra points even if he blanks in tougher games and West Ham isn't bad considering they would playing away in France on Thursday before Burnley game.

Yeah, fair play i forget about West Ham's European adventures.

If you are talking forwards, Burnley defence may not get many points in those games still.

Forgetting about the two Lyon games, so West Ham are playing every 4 days or so with 5 games in 2 weeks. April 3-17.

Probably, but for me that is part of the fun of the game 🙂 I already had Pope and Weghorst though, so not sure if I would be bringing them in right now

My defence is already pretty heavy:
    TAA Robbo Tierney Saiss Doherty

Whereas my midfield is a little light:
    Salah Raph Saka Martinelli Ramsey

Have 2m itb, which is the better upgrade:
    A) Saiss to Cancelo
    B) Ramsey to Barnes

I see the attraction of the defence but I'm often drawn to a stronger midfield.

Personally I'd look to improve on Ramsey and Raphinha.

Unless you are set on playing 5 at the back?

      1. waltzingmatildas
        • 15 Years

Yeah, I don't love 5 at the back. I'm ok with Raph for the next couple, so I guess Ramsey to Barnes might be the move.

          • 15 Years

Although if I do that, there isn't really anywhere to go with Raph in 33 as I'll already have Barnes...

    3. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

Although I agree the mids look a bit light, I think I still prefer A in 541. Raph - Barnes in 33 works neatly. Of TAA is out for a while you could consider a cheaper replacment to enable Ramsey upgrade

Any idea what Ralph may do regarding Sotons 2 forwards for the next game v Leeds?

The two up top v City hardly took their opportunity so do you think he’ll revert to both Broja and Adams up top or perhaps just 1 of those two?

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

Seen a fair bit of talk about Broja being (possibly) finished but I don't see Long / Adam Armstrong as regular starters. My guess is that Saints will match Leeds' 4222 since they're somewhat better at it. Going to hold onto Broja & see what happens (on my bench though).

The pandemic has had a negative impact not only on sports. Everyone has experienced isolation, stress, depression. Therefore, I decided to look at the psychotherapy directory https://www.australiacounselling.com.au/ to find a psychologist for myself. I couldn't handle the negativity. And the specialist helped me restore my mental health.
