We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

DOHERTY ‘OUT FOR 12 WEEKS’

The confirmation has yet to come from Tottenham Hotspur but Matt Doherty (£4.9m) looks set to miss the rest of the season with the knee injury that he picked up in Saturday’s win over Aston Villa.

The Athletic were among the media outlets to suggest that Doherty’s injury will keep him out for up to 12 weeks.

Spurs’ last Premier League fixture comes at Norwich City in six weeks’ time.

DIAS BACK IN TRAINING

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have been handed a major fitness boost for their trophy fight on multiple fronts as Ruben Dias (£6.1m) is now back in full training with the first-team squad.

Dias has been out for over a month with a hamstring strain.

It’s not yet known whether the centre-half will play a part against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday or Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend, but Pep Guardiola may tell us more when he faces the press on Tuesday afternoon.

LUKAKU STILL OUT

Thomas Tuchel confirmed on Monday that Cesar Azpilicueta will be part of the Chelsea squad to face Real Madrid on Tuesday evening but Romelu Lukaku (Achilles) will not travel.

Both players missed Gameweek 32 but Azpilicueta returns to the squad following several negative tests for Covid-19.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (Achilles/back) and Ben Chilwell (knee) remain on the injury list, while Ross Barkley is ill.

    My team looks ok on paper but have had 2 horror shows of weeks after WC.
    2ft's. Who is getting culled for you from this lot?

    Pope.
    James, Cancelo, TAA.
    Martinelli, Kulu, Saka, Salah, Havertz.
    Kane, Broja.
    Foster, Laporte, Amartey, Mateta.
    2ft's, 0.2m ITB.

      Hard to find a weakness there. Dare I say burn a transfer.

      Or you could consider Pope-> Schmeichel? I also went with Pope 2 weeks ago but have been pretty disappointed. Great fixtures but I'm not sure they'll keep any CS. Mind you, Leicester aren't exactly solid defensively either so could backfire.

      Looks pretty darn good to me personally, only weakness I can see is maybe Broja but with a double this week against two teams that are stuttering a bit he might come good

      I'd consider changing the keeper.
      Otherwise maybe one Arsenal mid, Saka, to Leicester.
      But not this week.

      Hey Raga, Love your LiveFPL site mate - So helpful.

        You can check who has used what and when on the FPL website. Just to to a player's team, scroll down to "View Ganeweek History" and there's a section there that tells you all the chips they've used. Only found this out myself this season but very helpful!

      sorry mate
      Maddison was at 87% on stats when I said unlikely to rise on ur post
      Bit surprised he went up tonight.

      I would just monitor it on stats and make the move if either of them hit 75 % or higher as there does seem to be a bit of margin for error.

      I'd say he might rise again but not before the EL game. Honestly I don't think he's going to start the first game of this double, could be way off but he's played a lot of games in a row and was one of the few that didn't get rotated on Sunday. He's generally been a bit injury prone so I think a rest has to be coming then, or if not then then definitely the second game

      Soyuncu may not play much if Evans and Fofana stay fit, but that being said Arsenal's defensive form is worrying without Tierney and Partey. Barnes and Adams are decent but if you're going for a Leicester mid I'd try stretch to Maddison, might avoid Adams due to Saints' very poor form but they are against two teams in poor form

    Will really appreciate some advice.
    Still have WC and BB so can potentially WC 34/35, BB 36 or 37.
    Or, I can BB this week. Would you BB the below?

    DDG (NOR, liv)
    Rudiger (ARS)
    Weghorst (whu, SOU)
    Toney (wat)

      If we accept that a 20 point gain with BB is acceptable as some of the pundits were discussing, than I would be tempted to BB that bench. I’d want a better forward than Weghorst but he may get you 4 points.

      He had a shot against Norwich in the box but it was blocked. I don't see him staying in that starting line-up so it's the right call, I just got rid for Toney (don't like early transfers but I'm happy to keep Toney for the remainder of the season and I was just sick of seeing Weg there)

    Would you FH this team in 33?

    Sa/Ramsdale

    James, Rudiger, Livra, Bavies, Robbo,

    Salah, Son, Bowen, Saka, Rapha

    Weghorst, Toney, Broja

    If I bring in Debravka for Sa and Maddison for Rapha, that gives me 7 Dgwk players.

    I have FH, WC and BB chips left.

        37 is the plan esp if the CTY is put in there. I do not have Cancelo, TAA and KDB either which is also making me think of a FH.

          WC34/35 gives a decent GW37 team, so FH in that week may not be the best idea.

          I guess this week should be better.

    Is this worth a -12 in order to BB?

    Doherty -> Schar
    Coady -> Fofana
    Ramsey -> JWP
    Denis -> Wood

    Leaves me with

    Ramsdale* (Foster)
    Livra* Fofana* White* Schar* (Rudiger)
    Salah Son Maddison* Saka* (JWP*)
    Kane Wood* (Weghorst*)

    I don’t like the hits, but it would be great to not be thinking BB when using my WC!

    1. Holmes
      • 12 Years
      3 years, 12 months ago

      It will have to score around 25pts for any kind of decent returns which I'm not sure will happen.

      Individually, Doherty to Schar and Dennis to Wood are okay, doubtful about Fofana and Ward Prowse.

      I think it would be better to BB later. Even a bunch of fodders are likely to get 10-12pts, so you dont need to do anything special for BB.

      1. Holmes
        • 12 Years
        3 years, 12 months ago

        For instance, I would expect Foster-Hall/Gordon-Fofana-Mateta/Pukki to do fine in BB36. Cheap and okay potential. With some cash injection, you might even be able to get a better bench.
