We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

DE BRUYNE AND WALKER INJURED

Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) and Kyle Walker (£5.4m) both limped out of Manchester City’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening, while Phil Foden (£7.8m) played on till full-time despite taking a blow to the head.

De Bruyne was seen icing his ankle after leaving the bruising encounter in Madrid midway through the second half, while Walker failed to shake off an issue he picked up in a heavy challenge and departed the field not long after.

“We are in big trouble. We cannot forget we played three days ago in a tough game against Liverpool, travel, come here, and we have a lot of injuries right now.

“I don’t know what is going to happen in the next weeks but today we are going to celebrate because it is the third time in Manchester City’s history that we are in the semi-finals of the Champions League.” – Pep Guardiola

CITY AND LIVERPOOL PROGRESS IN EUROPE

City and Liverpool both made it through to the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday night, firming up their schedules for the next month.

The two sides meet at Wembley on Saturday in an FA Cup semi-final, and the winners will have their Gameweek 37 fixtures moved back a few days (in City’s case, it could also be brought forward to Gameweek 36).

In short, the two sides will play at least 10 fixtures over the space of 37 days, with the team reaching the FA Cup final playing twice a week every week between now and Gameweek 38.

MANCHESTER CITY

  • Wednesday 13 April: Champions League quarter-finals – Atletico Madrid (a)
  • Saturday 16 April: FA Cup semi-finals – Liverpool (n)
  • Wednesday 20 April: Gameweek 33 – Brighton and Hove Albion (h)
  • Saturday 23 April: Gameweek 34 – Watford (h)
  • Tuesday 26/Wednesday 27 April: Champions League semi-finals
  • Saturday 30 April: Gameweek 35 – Leeds United (a)
  • Tuesday 3/Wednesday 4 May: Champions League semi-finals
  • Sunday 8 May: Gameweek 36 – Newcastle United (h)
  • Saturday 14 May: FA Cup final?
  • Sunday 15 May: Gameweek 37 – West Ham United (a)
  • Sunday 22 May: Gameweek 38 – Aston Villa (h)
  • Saturday 28 May: Champions League final

*City also have a league match against Wolverhampton Wanderers (a) to fit in, which will take place in either the midweek after Gameweek 36 or 37

LIVERPOOL

  • Wednesday 13 April: Champions League quarter-finals – Benfica (h)
  • Saturday 16 April: FA Cup semi-finals – Manchester City (n)
  • Tuesday 19 April: Gameweek 33 – Manchester United (h)
  • Sunday 24 April: Gameweek 34 – Everton (h)
  • Tuesday 26/Wednesday 27 April: Champions League semi-finals
  • Saturday 30 April: Gameweek 35 – Newcastle United (a)
  • Tuesday 3/Wednesday 4 May: Champions League semi-finals
  • Saturday 7 May: Gameweek 36 – Tottenham Hotspur (h)
  • Tuesday 10 May: Gameweek 36 – Aston Villa (a)
  • Saturday 14 May: FA Cup final?
  • Sunday 15 May: Gameweek 37 – Southampton (a)
  • Sunday 22 May: Gameweek 38 – Wolverhampton Wanderers (h)
  • Saturday 28 May: Champions League final

While City were pretty much at full strength in Spain, Jurgen Klopp handed rests to Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.4m), Andrew Robertson (£7.3m), Virgil van Dijk (£6.8m), Sadio Mane (£11.7m) and Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) against Benfica – a move no doubt welcomed by FPL managers who own one or more of the above ahead of a busy month.

VARDY FITNESS LATEST

Jamie Vardy (£10.3m) had an injection in his knee on Tuesday and will be assessed over the next week – so his involvement in the Foxes’ Double Gameweek 33 looks in some doubt.

“[He had an injection] last night. We’ll see over the course of the next week what effect that brings and hopefully, it can be a positive one for us.” – Brendan Rodgers on Jamie Vardy

There was nothing new on the injury front ahead of Leicester’s Europa League clash with PSV Eindhoven, with Wilfred Ndidi (£4.8m), Danny Ward (£4.0m) and Ryan Bertrand (£4.6m) out for the long term.

Another club in European action on Thursday are West Ham United, and they’ll have to do without Kurt Zouma (£5.4m) for their match against Lyon after the centre-half twisted his ankle on Sunday.

FH team - what would you change? Plenty ITB

    Alisson
    Cancelo Schar Laporte Castagne
    Maddison Bruno (C) Sancho
    Iheanacho Kane Broja

    Subs: Pope, Reguilon, Kulu, Brownhill

Bit different in the nets, but DGWs really help out the keepers. I think it doesn't make sense to go for Allison who has a low ceiling & low floor.

Can't really speak on the Nacho pick until after the Leicester fixture. Daka wasn't great vs. CRY which makes me think Nacho is getting the nod in Europe.

I'd probably spend a bit less on the bench to improve your playing options.

E.g. Emerson over Regulion? Kulu is too much to spend on bench.

        Thanks for your thoughts.

What do you think about Alisson, Kulu, Iheanacho to DDG, Son & a 4.5?

        So a front 6 of…
        Maddison Bruno Son Sancho
        Kane Broja

That feels better. More like what I think I'd go with. But depends on what happens with Nacho really.

ARS forward? Lacazette apparently not in latest training, so can't be sure whether he or Nketiah (or Martinelli) would start up top.

Aside from what I assume would be JWP, rest relatively standard.

No point in Gelhardt (4.6m) as he has a BGW. Get Burnley's Richardson (4.5m). Won't play either but 0.1m chepeaer and looks like he has a DGW at least!

didn’t hear that about Laca, in a 352 I was just throwing in a cheap forward that will not be needed with two double game week players on the bench ahead of the 3rd striker although if money is available maybe i would get a starter just in case

          Schmeichel
          Cancelo Schar White
          Madds Son Bruno Saka
          Kane

I am on the above, the other two are tricky picks especially if Laca is out, but I like Southampton’s fixtures and JWP is a nice dgw differential.

May yet squeeze in Ronaldo but he was limping off the pitch when he hit the phone out of the kids hand

good luck whomever you go with

    Play the FH this week?

    Schmeichel
    TAA Robertson Cancelo James
    Salah Maddison Havertz Kulusevski
    Kane Mateta
/ Foster / Cucho* Doherty* Ramsey*

Bench an issue this week, with possible Chelsea rotation. Less concerned about Liverpool etc.

I can sort Doherty & Cucho (if needed) from GW34 onwards. In a way having the FH to wait for news on Cucho & think about the best Doherty replacement ignoring this DGW helps later.

Wait for news but honestly I don't think it's worth an FH, you have a really solid team there. I'd be surprised if both James and Havertz were rotated, so really just moving Doherty out would probably be enough cover. If you still wanted to wait on it it might be fine, if not then ending up with 10 wouldn't be the end of the world

I'm a Chelsea fan & I can definitely see Havertz rested vs. ARS. FA Cup is now important for us being the last trophy we can get.

More so that I think he'll be needed in FA Cup, but think if he does play Arsenal too it'll be an early sub. Lots of minutes racked up and a potential DGW34 to come too.

James I'm less sure about - but need to manage his minutes too.

Team is good because I just wildcarded into it, but it focused on GW34 onwards (incl. DGW36).

Only other time I'd FH is in 37 but my squad is good for that too. Can easily chuck in another City player or two in 37 if their DGW falls there by swapping a player or so.

That's fair, up to you then really, shame you won't have much of an idea before deadline of what will be the case with Chelsea players. I meant wait for news on the likes of Cucho to see if it's likely you'll have any bench or not.

My gut is telling me B, but see how Europe pans out for Leicester anyway.

Only concern is Jota was subbed early in UCL, likely for start in FA Cup semi which puts GW33 start as more of a doubt.

I’m on Wood and Adams at the moment but totally unsure if that’s the right play. Also considering Rodriguez, given Weghorst poor form. All the DGW FWDs for 33 are just so dull!

Am I seriously considering capping a Newcastle defender this week? Not sure if I’m in somekind of bad dream.

It’s risky captaining new defender. They’re yet to keep b2b cs this season. Low xGC but still concede a bit. Leicester more likely imo than palace away

    get Dewsbury-hall and bench broja?

    A. Laca -> wood
    B. Tierney -> Telles (rudi on bench)
    C. Douglas luiz -> Dewsbury-hall ( broja on bench)
    D. Weghorst, Tierney -> Wood, schar/taylor (-4)

Depends on what you think the extra points will bring from BB now or in GW 36 or 37 or even in between. Are you likely to have 4 doublers on the bench in BB? Is a GW in between where it's hard to choose your 11 gonna be a better BB GW even if the bench is all single gamers?

    Unpopular Opinion .

Emerson Royal (4.5) is a good FPL option for rest of season. Here me out

Spurs are in red hot form and his main competition Doherty out for the season, .Playing wingback in Conte system means he and Regulion will always be there in and around the penalty box

Okay i agree he has been somewhat wasteful with his end product but cant deny he has always got into good position attacking wise and spurs form will breed confidence for any player

Thoughts? Go and tell me I'm crazy 😉

i could go safe with a boring Ben Davies, Dier, White etc. But hey i like to have some fun .

Anyways i can afford to be a little crazy when my defence already consists of the holy trinity (TAA Cancelo Reece)

        1. Eze Really?

Backup for Reece? Maybe a Spurs spot. The problem is Reece comes on for cameos so I am concerned as an owner it being the right call to own him.

With chelsea out of CL Reece will play the majority of pl games left. Maybe a rare rest is not out of the window

You told me to call you CrAzY.
The move itself isn’t too bad if you believe in it yourself. It’s your team and if you have sound reasoning then go for it.

Sess is the one to own imo if he stays fit, he’ll play ahead of Regulion and at 4.3 is an absolute steal

I wonder how many transferred in KDB early? Does not sound promising. Questions on Foden too who I have had since the beginning of time. What a troll for me.

Hope so! I've waited on the move even though funds are fairly tight for my plans. Love the look of my projected KDB team & don't want to go back to Salah now

Im just guessing. pep was not happy with CL draw and not happy to play Liverpool on either side of the Madrid double, while Liverpool rested their best players, he had to play his best 11.
I would be surprised if both Walker and Kdb is actually injured. But City had a more brutal game than Liverpool, and i think Peps quote must be taken in that account.

    team is linked

Would you plan to buy a city midfielder in 34 for their run in if planning BB36? Currently City won't double in 36 + I will FH in 37

Doesnt seem like you can afford KDB...? Not feeling too bullish on Foden atm, but maybe Gundogan could be an option if KDB is out

Yes can't afford without selling salah or kane
foden has 1g in last 6, bernardo 0. mahrez perhaps but definitely a UCL favourite. Gundogan offer value at least
would probably not own more than one city player in gw36 for BB though if they don't double
Just the next few games look so enticing

Hi all, need your opinion about this:

    Foster
    VVD Cancelo Rudiger Targett
    Havertz Son Saka Salah Brownhill
    Antonio

    (Sa Doherty King Watkins)

1FT 0.8 ITB (still have WC, FH, BB)

    A. Save FT
    B. Doherty >Gabriel/Telles/someone else
    C. WC
    D. FH

      I might FH this week.
      WC34.
      BB36.
Should be able to build a good team for the run in with the WC and still attack this week.
You’re team is a little odd for this week as it is. Antonio, Brownhill aren’t good options to have to start.
      Foster not a good keeper.
Could be Chelsea rotation after FA Cup.

What move should I be looking at for DGW33? Planning to WC either 34 or 35. 1FT, £4.2m ITB

    Sanchez, Foster
    Robertson, Cancelo, James, Livramento, Dalot
    Salah, Son, Kulu, Maddison, Martinelli
    Weg, Broja, Dennis
