After weeks of tweaking, you’ve set up a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) squad for Gameweek 1, joined a range of mini-leagues and briefly remembered what hope feels like. Just don’t forget to submit a Fantasy5 line-up, as you could miss out on a cool £10,000 prize!

Yes, the free-to-play weekly Fantasy5 game is back, and there are various other prizes on offer beyond the whopping jackpot.

You can even set up a mini-league and compete with colleagues, friends and family. To join the Fantasy Football Scout league, simply click here.

Win £10,000 for free with Fantasy5 by picking the best players for Gameweek 1 3

HOW TO PLAY

It’s as simple as this: pick five players from the nominated Gameweek 1 matches below and, if they all exceed their ‘points targets’ (a par score set by Fantasy5 for each asset), you’ll be in the money:

Win £10,000 for free with Fantasy5 by picking the best players for Gameweek 1 4

Even if you don’t succeed in getting all five right, Fantasy5’s leaderboard allows you to win prizes beyond the £10k jackpot.

We have selected our own picks for Gameweek 1, which can you can read below.

The deadline for this week’s entries is at 15:00 BST on Saturday 6 August.

SCOUT’S GAMEWEEK 1 PICKS

Starting at Spurs, where quotes from the pre-Southampton press conference have added uncertainty over the match fitness of Ivan Perisic (6.5) and Matt Doherty (6.5). The latter seems especially unlikely, leading us to another attacking wing-back, Emerson Royal (6.5).

Meanwhile, Leeds host Wolves after a decent pre-season ended with a 6-2 win over Serie B side Cagliari. Patrick Bamford (6.5) scored twice and is hoping to put a bad season of hamstring, foot and ankle injuries behind him. A home match versus Wolves’ new back-four system could be an ideal place to start.

The only summer signing amongst these picks is Raheem Sterling (8.5), now donning the blue shirt of Chelsea. With a five-season FPL average of just under 200 points, the 27-year-old England international guarantees goals and will be determined to prove that Pep Guardiola was wrong to sell him.

Jadon Sancho (7.5) has three goals from four pre-season outings, forming a promising front three with Marcus Rashford (8.5) and Anthony Martial (6.5). As the latter has been ruled out of the opener against Brighton, expect Sancho to return from the illness that kept him out of last weekend’s friendlies.

Finally, key Man City players like Kevin De Bruyne (10.5), Erling Haaland (10.5) and Joao Cancelo (8.5) have been priced very highly for their trip to West Ham. So let’s back Jarrod Bowen (7.5) – the scorer of both goals during their 2-2 draw less than three months ago.

HOW DOES FANTASY5 WORK?

Win £10,000 for free with Fantasy5 by picking the best players for Gameweek 1 2

Fantasy5 is easy to play as it follows the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points.

It’s also the fastest media outlet for live Fantasy points, displaying all player points from the five games in question, as well as the live score and time.

For the more detailed lowdown, head here.

The competition is limited to one entry per person per round and selections must be submitted before kick-off of the first eligible match.

If two or more entrants correctly select five players who all score more than their points target, then the prize pot is split among all winners.

Saka + Walker OR Martinelli + Cancelo

B slightly edging it for me too, but very tempted by upside of Saka who seems to have Pens and better xGI than Martinelli

Saka isn't worth 2m more then Martinelli, Cancelo is worth 2m then Walker. That's my opinion anyway

I on a similar conundrum; Mount + Walker or Martinelli + Cancelo. I have a 2nd 8M midfield slot, and currently not opting for big at the back.

For what it's worth I'm leaning towards nit having cancelled, and sticking with 2 x 8M midfield slots

Very similar but reckon Martinelli + Cancelo is more of an easier choice for this comparison

If you are stubbornly going to gamble on a Man Utd player, which option sounds best? Side note: Did Conte suggest Perisic may not be ready for GW1.

    a) Neto + Sancho

    b) Perisic + Rashford

Here you fella, this is what Conte said

Is Ivan Perisic fit enough to start?
It's normal after a serious injury to be struggling a bit to come back in the best physical condition. Honestly I'm surprised because he reduced his time to recover. We are really happy.

At the same time we are not worried but we have to pay a bit of attention to give him the right time to adapt himself to recover 100% after his injury.

But I know him very well and he is a very good addition for us, it will be really important for his experience for the younger players. Sessegnon is a player who plays in the same role. Ivan can teach him a lot of situations to improve Sess, but even for sure he is a really good addition for us for many aspects. Then we will see. We have another training session tomorrow - play him or Sess (laughter).

Watkins is absolutely nailed v a Side who are having to field reserve players and one player who played for Fleetwood Town last season and has had precisely one preseason game.

Not my definintion of a " huge gamble" but we are all different....

More for Sky FF, is Saliba now a nailed starter for arsenal or just while there's injuries?

impossible to know, if Arsenal smash Palace tomorrow and look as good as they have in pre season then i don't think either Saliba or White can be dropped, in regards to Sky Saliba will be an absolute points monster if he plays, the 7.4 VVD imo

Wouldn’t surprise me to see them rotated often depending on opponent/tactics.

You don't rotate a defence ; at least you try not to.

    The rare 3-5-2:

    Ramsdale
    TAA-Robbo-Cancelo
    Salah-Mount-Martinelli-Neto-Bailey
    Haaland-Jesus

    4.0 GK, Neco-Patterson-Plange

    Bueller?

Do like me and many, get both and keep for the season. In combo with Mo, cap picks are sorted.
