Scoutcast – FPL Gameweek 5: Salah, fixture congestion and transfer plans

Seb and Andy are Lepper-less as they co-host the Scoutcast without Joe ahead of Tuesday’s Gameweek 5 deadline.

It’s a swift turnaround between Gameweeks as we prepare ourselves for the first midweek round of Premier League matches of the season.

And fixture congestion is a big focus of tonight’s stream as the pair discuss not just the recovery periods between Gameweek 4-6 matches but also the packed schedule for the teams involved in European club competition all the way up to the World Cup.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) is another hot topic as Seb and Andy discuss the Egyptian’s Gameweek 4 blank.

A questions-and-answers session with the watching Fantasy community, the Gameweek 5 captaincy debate and forthcoming transfer plans are also on the agenda. Live Hall of Fame number 33 Seb, ranked inside the top 40k in 2022/23 already, even has the luxury of burning a transfer…

    Got sterling IN and I'm excited about the game again. He is at such a tricky price point that it'll be impossible for people to get him in without a major overhaul/sacrificing a premium and hence why he could be a differential for quite a few gws.
    Imo he is a 3rd captaincy choice in the team.. which is something the 8.0 mids don't really offer.

    Anyone else here punting on sterling?

      I have not seen his stats but I've watched all 4 games. From memory first game he looked great and almost had a goal except for an amazing tackle by mykelenko. 2nd game had a goal disallowed for VAR and got an assist. 3rd game did his traditional cut from the left and nearly scored. 4th game he went bananas and should have had a 3rd goal and an assist too. Looked fantastic regards his positioning too and looks miles ahead of the other Chelsea attackers (I've now realised how bad Werner's positioning was after seeing sterling play). I'm hoping he hits his heights of 30+ goal involvements (goals+ assists) from 2 to 3 years ago but for his price id settle for 20+ goal involvements too. Perfect price point for a faux premium for a good run of fixtures and as a 3rd captain choice alongside 2 of Salah/kdb/Haaland/Kane imo

        Chelsea have a terrific run of fixtures, but I'd rather focus on the defence. The attack just isn't clicking, with Gallagher, Mount and Havertz disappointing. I should improve, in which case you'll be ahead of the curve, but it's a too-expensive risk for me.

          If i had to compromise anywhere else i would not opt for him. Thing is i got him in for free alongside and not instead of
          Sanchez, TAA, James, Saliba, Salah, Haaland, Martinelli, Gross, Jesus, Toney..
          so i did not compromise my premiums/defense/mid or forward line for him.
          Hence making him a risk free punt for me.

          Might be a bit better in the coming games with Kovacic on the mend and Fofana on the way which should free James to bolster the attack

      Could have had 4 on Saturday given he was holding the ball for the penalty that got overturned. You’re right about his price being awkward but if he looks on it again tonight (and this is his sort of fixture) I will consider bringing him in for Salah, which would allow for Toney to Kane

        I think that was a mistake boosting peno tbh. Jorginho is miles better at them. Sterling went through 300 mins without a goal for chelsea.. so maybe he was given the peno to get his goal touch going. If he is on the next peno it'd be a huge bonus and would probably add 1 million to his valuation(though he is horrid at them)

      Can't do it this week without dropping Cancelo (which I won't do before Forest) but the current plan for next week is to drop Cancelo to a 3.9def and move Martinelli to Sterling (I upgraded Dasilva to Bernardo yesterday so 3.9def will just be fodder like Dasilva was until I WC around GW9). Would love to have him for tonight, could do very well

      Has to be Cancelo for NFO. That being said i would not expect more than 6 points unless pep tweaks this inverted wb system he has going now. About as effective attacking wise (maybe less) than rodri currently due to where he plays

      I have a similar conundrum (Aaronson or Saliba) and decided on Aaronson so I'd go Rodrigo, Everton in bottom 2 for xGC, Villa are in poor form but Arsenal have looked shaky at the back so wouldn't be surprised if they concede

      I've seen a few Leeds fans saying when the whole team is fully fit, Bamford and Sinisterra will come in and Rodrigo and James will drop out, the former because he doesn't do the pressing that Marsch requires (while Bamford does)
