The Scoreboard presents all the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) numbers you need from Saturday’s matches all on one screen.

As well as LiveFPL‘s rundown of the goals, assists and bonus points from the day’s FPL action, we’re bringing you a selection of the Opta stats that arrive in our Premium Members Area almost immediately after full-time in each fixture.

Our usual Scout Notes article, which summarises more of the main FPL talking points, notable manager quotes and injury news in extra detail, will follow.

BRIEF ROUND-UP

FPL Gameweek 8: Saturday’s goals, assists, bonus and statistics 9

Erling Haaland (£12.0m) made it 11 goals for the season with a strike in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday lunchtime but he was outscored by Gameweek 8 captaincy alternatives Kevin De Bruyne (£12.3m), Harry Kane (£11.4m) and even second-half Tottenham Hotspur substitute Son Heung-min (£11.7m), who all bagged double-digit hauls.

De Bruyne provided two assists – his fifth and sixth of 2022/23 – to move top of the FPL midfielders’ points table, while Kane avoided a blank for the sixth straight match. Son scored a sensational hat-trick after coming on as a 59th-minute substitute, meanwhile, ending his goal drought in spectacular style as bottom-of-the-table Leicester City were thrashed 6-2.

The Foxes were abject defensively again but James Maddison (£7.9m) warmed up for Leicester’s favourable fixture swing nicely with a goal, topping the non-penalty expected goal involvement (NPxGI) table in Gameweek 8 so far.

Ivan Perisic (£5.6m) and Kieran Trippier (£5.3m) underscored their attacking potential with an assist apiece, compensating for clean sheet losses in their respective matches. Perisic somehow ended up with just two points, however, with a 54th-minute withdrawal compounded by a yellow card dished out for on-field encroachment after he was substituted.

Alexander Isak (£7.0m) and Youri Tielemans (£6.3m) were both on target from the spot for their teams on Saturday but the regulars penalty-takers of both Newcastle United and Leicester were off the field at the time; it remains to be seen if Isak has shunted the injured Callum Wilson (£7.2m) down the pecking order on Tyneside.

    Thinking of doing the WC.

    What to do?

A: keep Son and swap to Salah in 12
    B: bring in Salah rn

    1. COYS Down Under
      • 11 Years
      3 years, 6 months ago

Son scores a flukey (yes, I know how good he is) hat trick off the bench. Do you really want him?

I had him this week but not likely to keep him, I’m on WC too.

      1. The Philosopher
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

Plan was to shift him after the one week punt, but it's getting a bit tricky. Feels wrong to shift a guy who's just hit a 20 minute hatty.

      2. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

Bit lucky in the timing of buying Son but nothing lucky about the hat-trick. Hold him tight! He is streaky but so classy. For me its just a question of when I buy him back (now or GW11)

I know Isak scored a pen but i was not really impressed at all. With Wilson returning we don't know what his role will be and most assume he could play slightly wider

Might switch to Toney next gw who has good fixtures (bou new BHA CHE avl WOL nfo)

    - Toney is on 0.62 NPxG+xA/90 with pens and freekicks

    - Brentford running on 1.57 NPxG/90 (4th best in the league) and like to believe Toney is fixture proof.

When the ball gets on the ground again, Isak will do fine. This wasn't the game for him. He needs space.

Yeah probably overthinking. Better to give him the ful BRE game and re-assess.i guess. ASM and Wilson back should improve Newcastle attack.

    2. GreennRed
      • 14 Years
      3 years, 6 months ago

Isak needs time to adapt to PL pace and physicality. I watched game yesterday, Isak worked hard but not getting great service from supporting cast. St Max back soon should help him. Wilson should be chomping at the bit to get into the Qatar squad, though there's little time left. Supposedly will be named on October 19th.

Newcastle do struggle when team sits back due to no space to run in behind defences for likes of Almiron/Fraser/ASM

Fulham and Brantford wont sit back though so i think next 2 fixtures could be goal friendly

Thanks, with Wolves having scored just 3 goals in 8 EPL matches Coufal looks odds on for a CS so thought he was worthy of consideration.

I get it, he's probably got the best CS % of your defence, but they're still not really bad fixtures for the rest & definitely some potential attacking returns there

    RMWCT

    4.5 Ward
    James Trippier Coufal
    Salah Diaz Bowen Madders Zaha
    Haaland Mitrovic

    Schar Neco Archer

Schar and Coufal rotate quite well with alternate home fixtures.

    D) Sterling Zaha

Might write a longer comparative post on this at some point but I really think its worth holding on to Jesus if you can bench for the blank. Spurs are not exactly looking solid at the back, and the fixtures around the blank are dreamy (lee sou NFO). I also wonder if people claiming "form" as a reason to sell are really watching closely. Yes, Mitrovic is a comparable option & Toney was excellent against a weakened Leeds defence pushing for an equaliser, but for me Jesus is still looking a better option than both of them up to the World Cup

Would you wc this or wait until 12/13?
    Raya Ward
    Cancelo James Trippier Saliba Neco
    Salah Martinelli Harrison Bailey Andreas
    Kane Haaland Mitro

Have 1ft and 0itb. Was thinking of waiting and hoping the threemium pays off....

Not a fan of the midfield. It seems too reliant on Salah being consistent. Arsenal's fixtures are about to take a turn too.
Don't forget that during the world Cup you get a free wildcard (from gw16) so you may want better value from your first, instead of 3/4 weeks

It’s touch and go for me. Feel you need some Zaha, Maddison and or Bowen coverage in midfield with those fixture swings

Rumours of Newcastle and Spurs after him last window. About his level. Don't think Arsenal need him. Had poor behaviour in the past, don't think he's an Arteta player

Yeah we have Odegaard and Smith Rowe backup so it won’t be happening.

Great player, he’ll flourish at his next club. Liverpool need an attacking mid.

Nah, not a Liverpool player. Not worth the English premium and not a Klopp character. Have Fabio, Harvey, Curtis for AMs. Need CMs, would rather have Tielemens on a free.

    3. Arteta

Where does he fit in though? And would he be happy with lesser role at a bigger club? Arsenal need to buy defensive-minded CM first, but I remember we were after him not long. Apparently it was a decision between Odegaard and Maddison when we were looking for that creative midfielder. Both were great players back then and still are in my opinion.

I don't want him to end up at Chelsea, United or Spurs. I don't want them to get a player of his calibre.

It amuses me that FFS has so little expectation from Bournemouth and then, up pops our tinpot yokel team to upset every fantasy team with double Newcastle defence! Ha. We’d still take Eddie Howe back in a heartbeat though….. might even get that chance too!!
