This weekend will be the first time in four weeks that all 20 Premier League teams will take part, headlined by the derbies of North London, East Midlands and Manchester.

Three Saturday and two Sunday matches have been selected for the free-to-play Fantasy5, giving another chance for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to win £10,000 thanks to their expertise.

You can even set up a mini-league and compete with colleagues, friends and family!

To join the Fantasy Football Scout league, simply click here.

Win £10,000 for free with Fantasy5 by picking the best players for Gameweek 1 3

HOW TO PLAY

It’s as simple as this: pick five players from the nominated Gameweek 9 matches below and, if they all exceed their ‘points targets’ (a par score set by Fantasy5 for each asset), you’ll be in the money:

  • Fulham v Newcastle United
  • Southampton v Everton
  • West Ham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Manchester City v Manchester United
  • Leeds United v Aston Villa

Even if you don’t succeed in getting all five right, Fantasy5’s leaderboard allows you to win prizes beyond the £10k jackpot – including World Cup tickets!

We have selected our own picks for Gameweek 9, which can you can read below.

The deadline for this week’s entries is at 15:00 BST on Saturday 1 October.

SCOUT’S GAMEWEEK 9 PICKS

11 players defeated their points target during Gameweek 8, with five coming in the goal-fest between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.

One of these – James Maddison (6.5) – was our only successful pick, although Gabriel (6.5) and Alexander Isak (6.5) both scored and narrowly missed out with their six points.

As Isak picked up an injury on international duty that could rule him out for a few weeks, let’s take a punt on Callum Wilson (6.5). He himself has missed the Magpies’ last four matches but, with several team-mates also hurt, Wilson seems to be the last man standing. A trip to Fulham presents a good opportunity for goals.

Of all Southampton and Everton options, only Anthony Gordon (7.5) has accumulated more goal attempts than Demarai Gray (6.5). The latter has a lower points target that can be beaten with just one goal, so he gets the nod here.

Meanwhile, it’s hard to call West Ham versus Wolves. They are the league’s two lowest-scoring teams, netting just three times in seven matches. Neither Jarrod Bowen (7.5) nor Pedro Neto (6.5) have any FPL returns, with attacking rotation affecting both line-ups.

Therefore, the prospects for Aaron Cresswell (6.5) look decent. A possible clean sheet would need to be supplemented by an assist but he has registered a team-leading ten chances created this season.

Sunday lunchtime’s Manchester derby pits Pep Guardiola against Erik ten Hag. The targets of Erling Haaland (10.5) and Kevin De Bruyne (10.5) are high, so the big-game reliability of Bernardo Silva (7.5) has been selected here.

Finally, John McGinn (6.5) can follow his goal against Ukraine by doing the same to Leeds. He hasn’t yet scored in the league but did so three times in each of his previous campaigns.

HOW DOES FANTASY5 WORK?

Win £10,000 for free with Fantasy5 – pick the best players for Gameweek 6 1

Fantasy5 is easy to play as it follows the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points.

It’s also the fastest media outlet for live Fantasy points, displaying all player points from the five games in question, as well as the live score and time.

For the more detailed lowdown, head here.

The competition is limited to one entry per person per round and selections must be submitted before kick-off of the first eligible match.

If two or more entrants correctly select five players who all score more than their points target, then the prize pot is split among all winners.

Hi guys, the above is my WC team, I appreciate it's different, I just get bored of seeing all the same players, so wanted to go abit punty.

    What do people think?

    thanks

There's punty and then there is too punty. 1 or 2 punts fair enough with a couple of solid differentials on top, but you have too many of the former and in 2 weeks will be wishing you had a WC as you could have 5 or 6 fires to put out.

      1. grooveymatt65
        • 12 Years

yeah haha I get what you mean.

tbf I haven't clicked the confirm button so will revert back to having Sa and Martinelli instead of Kepa and Mount.

will keep an eye on Mount though might bring him in before gw12!

Also might keep Solanke as I fancy a punt on him

      • 12 Years

I like that your team is different. But I do not understand why you are choosing dead players - Kepa, Iversen and Goode. As of current knowledge, they are not first team players.

I like Tarkowski and Mount. Both of them has potential to return points but are not in many teams. I don't like Solanke, given how poor his team has been in terms of attacking.

There are plenty of first team players who are less than 10% owned and may outscore the current template players. Examples include Sterling, Sancho, Maddison, Zaha, ASM. Note that most of them are midfielders. It is diffcult to find non-template players in the forward and defense.

      1. grooveymatt65
        • 12 Years
        3 years, 2 months ago

        thanks for the input!!

Goode is just a cheap bench enabler.

Kepa should be first team, I forgot to state that him being in is only if Mendy is out for another couple of weeks.

Good examples but Sterling is too expensive, Maddison and Zaha I have and ASM is rumoured to be on the bench (not fully fit) this weekend

Depends if you want to play the fixtures or not. If not then it looks good to hold as no injury concerns etc and all those players could still do well despite harder fixtures for some of them.

      1. banskt
        • 12 Years

Depends what you consider hard fixtures. In my opinion, only Zaha, Perisic and Kane have hard fixtures in that squad but both the attackers are on penalties -- meaning they could return points in any game. Perisic will be on the bench anyway.

I think most are going for him to save 0.1m given you don't want to play a LEI goalkeeper even if they are starting

Don't think there is a clear answer around Iversen, Ward has been terrible so in theory yes, but then Rodgers recently publicly defended Ward and make it sound like he was still first choice. But then Rodgers might get sacked at some point etc.

Looks good but I'd maybe think about playing Coufal over Trippier if you already have Pope. West Ham better chance of clean sheet this weekend IMO and as we saw last week double Newcastle defence looks a bit risky.

I could be wrong as ManUtd do have a recent habit of turning up at the Etihad with all expectations that they'll get thumped and then they go on to win, but honestly if this was later in the season I'd be really tempted to TC Haaland this week. They've improved but are still absolutely miles away from City. They scraped wins against Leicester and Southampton, and fair enough they beat Arsenal, but I thought they were very lucky to have Martinelli's goal chalked off and then what I thought was a blatant penalty not given against them (wasn't even discussed after the game). I can see City tearing ManUtd apart

    Kyle Walker anyone?

Maddison or Diaz who would you trust long term. Liverpool better team but Maddison more in form. Can't get both as don't look like moving Zaha and Martinelli till world cup/injury

Maddison. Should get a bigger slice of Leicester attacking returns than Diaz will of Pool's attacking returns, though Pool's ceiling is higher.

    Cancelo -> TAA worth it?

Go with your gut - I wouldn’t, I expect Cancelo to do well v Utd I’m starting Dias. Trent seems to be wayward with his recent penchant for Hollywood passes BUT could equally clean sheet AND score v the Albion. All haulers are equal but some are more equal than others - no help at all sorry - final answer stick with João Pedro Cavaco Cancelo & carry your FT

Do you fancy representing the Community and taking on the Scout Picks?

Pick 11 players to challenge the Scout Picks in a one-off head-to-head match.

It's been a good start for the Community, who are 5-2 up this season.

Camzy recorded a narrow 4-point win in GW8 largely thanks to Foden and Jesus producing returns, and he adds to victories by Pirlos Pen, circusmonkey, Jazz and Boleyn Boy.

The Community Member who has the biggest winning margin across the season takes home a £100 Amazon voucher and entry to our Mods and Cons League.

The current leader is Boleyn Boy, who set an impressive 27-point target in GW6.

If chosen, you will have a budget of £83m to select 11 players but outside of that standard FPL rules apply - you need to use a normal FPL formation and with a limit of 3 players from a team.

And remember to pick a captain and vice-captain.

If you’re interested in applying, email me at will@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with the subject heading “Community Picks”. Include your FFS username and FPL Team ID.

The manager selected for GW9 will have until Friday at 5pm to send in their team, but tweaks are allowed right up to the deadline (in case of injuries announced in the press conferences).
