Liverpool v Man City team news: Alexander-Arnold and Darwin subs

The best two sides of recent Premier League seasons do battle at 16:30 BST on Sunday, as Liverpool meet Manchester City at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp makes five changes from the side that lost 3-2 at Arsenal in Gameweek 10, with James Milner, Joe Gomez, Andrew Robertson, Fabinho and Harvey Elliott all coming into the starting XI.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is among those who drop out, but he does make an earlier-than-expected return from injury, as he takes his place among the substitutes alongside Darwin Nunez.

Ibrahima Konate, meanwhile, is absent from the matchday squad.

As for Man City, Pep Guardiola makes just the one change from last weekend’s 4-0 win over Southampton, as Ilkay Gundogan comes in for Riyad Mahrez.

That means Erling Haaland leads the line as expected, but Jack Grealish has to settle for a place on the bench.

    I'm considering 3 defenders to replace Patterson.

    A) Guehi (best fixture, cheapest for most flexibility)
    B) Gomez (Liverpool might be back? Differential)
    C) Doherty (would be a double down with Dier plus the upside)

    Which would be best?

          yep, saw that, castagne getting those #s the hard way, given lei at bottom.of table. Thinking leicester play better . Also he is playing on the ledt, so has that upside attacking. But guehi also ok, better supporting cast from cry dfence

      Was looking at Gomez myself, he was superb today.

      But was surprised to see TAA back- does this mean any minutes risk for Gomez? Need him to play 12,13,14

            I guess not. I could do worse than Gomez. Looks like Konate isn't fit either and it's really only the next two games or so.

      A, feels a pretty nailed on CS for them next week, Wolves racked up 0.5 npxG at home to Forest. Then remaining fixtures are all clean sheetable.

    Long live the Invincibles! Almost 20 years on and no team still close to match the feat. And will probably be sometime before that happens again. To not lose even once throughout the season is not a piece of cake.

    Thoughts on these two plans?
    I have KDB and Madd to replace, rather set on KDB to Salah, which leaves me with:

    1) Madd to one week punt, like Tross, to be replaced by Foden next week - means keeping Zaha

    2) Madd to some longer term option like Mount/Bowen - Zaha to Foden next week

    Tbh more sold on 2) now but happy to hear any opinions!

      I'm thinking of doing exactly the same and am looking at 2 with Mount. Zaha has been dissapointing whereas Mount is in form. Main doubt is whether he might be rested next game though.

    Think I'll go VVD over Robbo. Nailed for 90 mins and a threat a set pieces. Not convinced Robbo and TAA will get the same number of assists as last season with no Mane in the team and now Jota injured. Plus Robbo getting subbed off more and just back from injury. Thoughts?

    I can't field a full team for GW12 without taking a -4 for Patterson to someone. I know taking hits for defenders is not usually a good idea but is it acceptable to make 11 starters?
