I know that this is classic point chasing, and I shouldn't pull the trigger until closer to the deadline, but is Darwin+Salah to Kane+KDB for a -4 as good a move as I think it is?

    Would give me:
    Kepa
    Trippier Shaw Cancelo
    KDB Martinelli Rashford Almison
    Haaland Kane Mitrovic

    Ward White Andreas Bueno

Almost identical team to me. Good moves for next gw alone but long term I’m not so sure and for a hit as well

Thinking Darwin to Kane. Would give me this team (Patterson instead of Bueno). Looks good, but got a bad feeling.

Good luck! I like this team.

But I will probably use my FT this week to sell Andreas and buy Mitoma.

I've no real way to get Kane and KDB.

Considering doing Martial to Kane and Salah to Foden...

He's gotta start Foden eventually right...

Never thought Kane and Mings would get me 23 points tonight. Pair of heroes

No Harland (C) tomorrow is gonna hurt though.

I am not overly worried about Haaland tomorrow. EO if 150 isn’t the end of the world particularly after Kane’s haul. I would be surprised if you are not significantly better off on a 2 day view. I do have KDB too, which feels a bit of a hedge.

I need a break. The volatility this GW has been bonkers for me. I was 50k after Mitros goal yesterday and am now inside 10k. Could easily reverse next week.

I didn't realise how close it is because I've only gone from 17k 4 weeks ago to 11k after tonights games. One bad Gameweek will see me plummet by the sounds of it

    Or

    Evening all

Avoided World Cup fantasy and have had a dream re-start - genuinely think the break was a benefit. Re-started at around 500k and just entered the top 100k for this first time this season. From past experience, and i can't put my finger on it (and definitely can't prove it) but momentum definitely helps in FPL - just like in the same way those god-awful turgid season where each week is torture and you just slowly sink.. 🙂

Anyway, thoughts appreciated on the below - presuming a City & Spurs double only:

    Kepa | Ward
    Cancelo | Trippier | Saliba | Shaw | Bueno
    Salah | Martinelli | Eriken | Almiron | Andreas
    Haaland | Kane | Mitrovic

Shaw out & Walker in for Free
    or
Cancelo & Eriken out, Akanji & Foden in for -4 pts

Both ensure 3 x City players - losing form Utd players as I think they will lose the next two

    1. banskt
      • 12 Years
      3 years, 3 months ago

I agree with the "momentum" theory.

Decent plans, but Manchester United may get double fixtures this week. Then, the plan could change. Salah to KDB, Bueno to Botman, or Andreas to Mitoma can also be solid transfers.

      1. JohnnyMarrsGuitar
        • 14 Years
        3 years, 3 months ago

Cheers. Yep, if Utd get a double I have to probably keep Eriksen & Shaw.

Could do a straight free transfer Bueno to Lewis, but not sure the kid is gonna keep that right back spot at City for both or even one of the double fixtures.

Salah - it would probably take an injury to make me sell, but yep the KDB double is tempting esp with LFC so poor right now

Botman & Mitoma food for thought - appreciated

If you are looking to add another City defender (as you said, Lewis), then Ward / Kepa to Ederson is another strong move, especially as there is another possible double game for City in GW23.

            • 14 Years

Yep Edersen I'd not considered. Would involve -4pts though.. no hits all season and very unlikely to do it - managed to avoid DGW fever this season so far.. 😉

Thing is, I watched both Spurs' last two fixtures, and theyre truly an enigma. Without Kulusevski they have almost zero creativity or link up between Mid&Att.. but when Kane turns it on like he did during that 2nd half tonight and somehow becomes both 10 & 9 at the same time - well, we saw the result

Kane is having probably his best ever season in FPL (presuming - not checked) and still under 30% owned. Any other season without Haaland and Kane is 70% owned and people are frothing at the mouth at how good he is

      1. Casual Player
        • 5 Years

Kane is rock solid, I think the 4YCs spooked me a bit from the restart but I've always liked having him even when he's under the radar like now.

It's the Doherty/Perisic recommends, maybe even Son recs, that you'll see now that are going to be fun. Not sure the hauls now translate to points going forward.

Similar dilemma - see below ( and same team except I have Saka over Martinelli and Salah over KDB so only 1 m in bank). I probably need to do Salah to KDB

You could do Darwin to Kane and Cancelo to Akanji - 4. He does seem more nailed for now than Cancelo. I would seriously consider this

Thanks. Absolutely not selling kdb before his double that's for sure!

Let's see how cancelo looks tomorrow. Thar moves you suggest dunas look good.

But not sure I want to force the hit when I won't captain kane and fixtures not good....on general he hasn't been explosive this season till tonight. Thanks

Assuming City v Spurs double confirmed probably Salah to KDB would be move for free ( 1m in bank and 1 free transfer). Would you consider any of these additional moves for hit

A Patterson to Botman -4 and play ahead of Shaw
B Darwin to Kane and Cancelo to Akanji -8
C Keep Salah and do Cancelo Darwin to Akanji Kane -4
D Anything else worth a hit.

    Kepa
    Trippier Cancelo Shaw
    Salah Saka Rashford Almiron
    Haaland Darwin Mitrovic

    Ward White Andreas Patterson *

I wouldn't take a hit after the Salah to KDB move. However, that move is a bit sideways unless KDB starts playing better. You can improve your team by selling / benching Darwin.

Yes if could have got to Kane from Darwin in 1 move would have done it. Take the point on Salah to KDB and would only make move if doubles, and then probably drop to Ødegaard or Martinelli and then move Darwin to Kane. Only other forward I like is Toney with Brentford fixtures but risky with ban looming

Instead of making things complicated, you could just find someone to play and bench Darwin until you find the required 2FTs. Plenty of cheap options around. For example, Patterson to Botman and play 4-4-2.

Just the free transfer looks enough to me. Hate the idea of not having Mo Salah but KDB x 2 is, well, KDB x 2 🙂

Feels like this season 1m to 100k is soooo tight points wise that 4-8pts is even more of a gamble than ever before

I've just snuck into 100k and well chuffed, but top 15k is insane in this modern era - genuinely feel like top 10k is equal to the old top 1k level (and so on)

Keep it tight and don't take the hit - only halfway through and youre in contention to win still

It's not exciting (if you play FPL for excitement get a life 😉 ) but staying solid & safe and chipping away at failed points hits & captains is the way to go I'd say right now

I've had a decent career so far since 06-07 season

            top 10k - 6 times
            only once outside 500k
plus managed 1013, 152 and 104 final positions

but honesly think making anywhere near that nowadays is as good as something mad like a top 10 finish back in the day

        Spurs effect?

Kane at less than 30% with 15 in 18 FPL matches (i think) is mental

An element will be the Spurs effect and it is not as if the other two are bad options - they are excellent (I have KDB too).

The thing I dom5 understand is if there is a Spurs effect, why not a Liverpool effect?

I think KDB is easier to explain. City are chasing, he is playing for a better team, Hartland in front of him and a bit more on form, if not fantasywise.

Salah's world Cup rest on top of his new contract hasn't helped.

KDB will be 200+ for 13 years. Salah will be a 6 year man I think. In his day, the best but going downward as are his team sadly along with his manager's stock.

I hate fence sitting, but I think you're Utd links (and presumably LFC dislike) are talking there

Salah & Kane absolutely equal for me in terms of their status over the past 3-4 seasons

Kane clearly on top as it stands though no argument on that

Price is a major factor here. And I’m talking in terms of this season, not past ones.

Ah, fair point that. Kane being over £1m cheaper definitely swings it in his favour yep

And it's not like Salah is getting that hallowed 😉 clean sheet point very much either..

Mings the unlikely hero for me today. Looks like I need to start making moves to get Kane in before he is priced out of my reach. Have exact money to do Kulu + Mitro > Andreas + Kane for a -4. Yea or nay?

City fans, what's the situation with Walker?

I know it's a double but I'm guessing there's no way he starts both? Besides, these 2 fixtures don't look that good and City have been shaky at the back anyway

Tbf I don't understand the Akanji appeal either with 2 clean sheets and no real attacking potential

    1. NZREDS
      • 12 Years

I highly doubt he starts both at this stage, possibly one

City fan.. and we dont know! Similar with Grealish & Mahrez starting ahead of Foden.. although the emergence of Rico Lewis is the obvious part answer

Im considering Shaw to Walker but would say only 1 of the double fixures is guaranteed.

City fans HOPE that whatever Pep has seen in training will be quickly rectified and Walker, Cancelo & Foden will start both and stay in the team for the foreseeable...

If Utd get a DGW and the others go ahead as planned:

Patterson, Almiron, Darwin > AWB, Son, Greenwood

Worth it for a -4? Will obviously wait anyway but could be overthinking

AWB will lose place to Dalot who is now fit. Not keen losing Almiron and need to see if Son has turned the corner now so personally wouldn’t make these moves

You will find peace and a better FPL outcome if you focus on the decisions you make rather than the outcome. I am sure you have made plenty of decisions that have had a positive effect.

If you look back at the decisions that have, in retrospect, worked out badly and you are still happy with your reasoning, then lick your wounds and move on. Otherwise, understand your mistake and adapt.

      1. JohnnyMarrsGuitar

Yeah, very well put, much more eloquent than i could say it.. worst thing is to look back at "what if" point scenarios. Move on, correct any urgent / obvious errors, and stick to the plan

Cancelo needs to stay. He will start at least one and could easily get 15points

Martial I dont rate - loads of options to switch to though

I avoided Cancelo and used the money for Kane, a decision that clearly worked out. It was a 50/50 decision that I got lucky with given Cancelo’s unexpected fall from grace.

Cheers, bad decision on my end as Conte scared me by saying he might not play any of the WC players a couple of days before the restart............I then ended up with loads of spare cash which I felt like I had to use...hence Cancelo (whom I had avoided all year) came in

Whilst I think you were slightly naive to have taken Conte at face value as Kane was never being benched, your selections were still good and had Cancelo started (bad luck on your part) you wouldn’t be beating yourself up so much. Martial was a great pick in my opinion.
