We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from the Tuesday night clash between Leicester City and Fulham in our Scout Notes summary.

The numbers you see in this article are taken from our Premium Members Area, where you can access Opta player and team data for every single Premier League fixture.

MITROVIC SCORES BUT PICKS UP COSTLY YELLOW CARD

In an eventful evening, Aleksandar Mitrovic (£7.1m) scored the game’s only goal, his 11th of the campaign so far, equalling his season’s best in the Premier League.

The striker chested down Willian’s (£5.5m) cross before firing home in the first half, which helped Fulham win their third successive match following the restart.

However, he later picked up his fifth yellow card of the season for a foul on Harvey Barnes (£6.8m), which rules him out of Fulham’s second fixture of Double Gameweek 19 next Thursday.

As a result, Mitrovic ends the round on just five points, a bitterly disappointing return for those who handed him the armband (30.43% of the top 10k), given that he was on course for maximum bonus and nine points prior to his booking.

“I want to highlight how we started the game. I thought that in the first half, especially the first 25 minutes, we were brilliant. In the first 10 minutes we created two or three clear chances to score. We started the game dominant, playing in the opposition half for most of the time. Then we scored a brilliant goal. It was a great assist from Willian and then a great finish from Mitro.” – Marco Silva

PEREIRA ON PENS V CHELSEA?

It was an equally disappointing night for owners of Andreas Pereira (£4.6m), with the budget midfielder failing to create much and hooked on 59 minutes.

However, unlike Mitrovic, he still has one match to play at Stamford Bridge in Double Gameweek 19, and ‘should’ be on penalties in the Serbs’ absence.

Elsewhere, differential Willian produced his second assist in three matches, but an unlikely clean sheet handed Bernd Leno (£4.5m) the highest Fulham score with 10 points, courtesy of his shut-out, six saves and maximum bonus.

“He’s been impressive all season and we did everything to have him with us because we knew his quality and we knew what he could add to this football club and this group of players. He’s a top, top goalkeeper and he’s performing at a very high level in my opinion, which is not a surprise. All the fans should enjoy having a goalkeeper like him in their team.” – Marco Silva on Bernd Leno

THREE DEFEATS IN A ROW FOR LEICESTER

As for Leicester, they have now lost three straight top-flight home matches without scoring.

In fact, they have netted just two goals at the King Power in their last five, with some tricky-looking home clashes still to come, including Brighton and Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea before April.

On the night, they had to make two enforced changes which according to Brendan Rodgers affected their rhythm. First, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£4.9m) limped out of the warm-up and had to be replaced, before fellow midfielder Boubakary Soumare (£4.4m) hobbled off after just seven minutes.

Another absentee, Patson Daka (£5.7m), was replaced by Jamie Vardy (£9.1m) up front, yet the veteran forward touched the ball just 15 times all night, the fewest of any starting player.

“You have to be consistent in how you start the game. The injuries in the warm-up and the first few minutes rocked us a little bit and played a little part. We had to make quick changes and obviously that disrupted the balance of the team right before kick-off and then early on within the game. Still, we have to be better. It’s from us giving the ball away in the middle of the field. We conceded from a disappointing position where we had control of the ball and we give it away and then didn’t defend the cross, so that was a bad start for us. It becomes a different pressing game for different players in different positions and it took us five or 10 minutes within the game to adjust to that because your planning and working is based around a different pressing structure.

I think the performance, after the first 20 minutes, was good. We create opportunities and we looked very dangerous. We had clear opportunities to score and unfortunately didn’t take them. The reaction of the players was very good. They stayed committed, they fought, they kept their patience and their ‘keeper has made a couple of great saves. Ayo [Ayoze Perez] had an opportunity in the first half, it was a really good chance. And then we got Barnesy [Barnes] in one-on-one. We had opportunities to take something from the game. What was better was that at least we created opportunities. I’ve been a bit critical of our last pass because we get into good areas and then we don’t make the pass that creates the chance when we’re in a good area, so that was a little bit better tonight.” – Brendan Rodgers

Leicester City XI: Ward, Castagne, Amartey, Faes, Thomas (Iheanacho 72), Ndidi (Mendy 72), Soumare (Albrighton 8), Perez, Tielemans, Barnes, Vardy

Fulham XI: Leno, Tete, Tosin, Ream, Robinson, Reed, Palhinha, De Cordova-Reid (Wilson 66), Pereira (Cairney 59), Willian (Diop 82), Mitrovic

Can I get your early thoughts on this team? Possible DGWs in caps.

I've been watching the footage of Pele these past few days and I am wondering, "How on earth can we consider Messi and Maradona in the same bracket as Pele?"

Pele was the Greatest. Anyone else feel the same?

No...they just kicked you to bits. Pele played at a time when there was less protection which for me, makes what he achieved that much greater.

Yes but also footballers werent looked after as well as they're these days with precise & individualised training, special diets\nutrition.

Pelé was a legend, x3 World Cup champion.

However greatest? Not for me. How strong was/is the Brazilian domestic competition compared to Europe? That’s the difference maker

He proved it at the highest level in the three WCs he won so I don't really see the relevance.

Tournament play he was a legend.

It’s all just opinion anyway so it doesn’t matter in the end but for me you cannot overlook the fact Pelé played in a much weaker domestic competition his entire career compared to Messi and Maradona.

Pelé was simply not playing against the best players at the time on a consistent basis like Maradona and Messi

Messi played in a league where there were only two teams in with a serious chance of winning the title. However, when you look at the calibre of players Brazil was producing at that time, I wouldn't discredit Brazilian football.

You take that as discredit? Interesting.

I don’t think it’s a discredit to say European competitions now and historically have always been the highest level of professional voetbal.

The Brazilian league itself produced major talent that most of time was refined and taken to a higher level by playing in Europe.

La Liga even with its duopoly was/is a much stronger competition than the Brazilian league.

I'm not in the Pele camp but here you can find very interesting article about Brasilian league quality in Pele's era.

                  https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12027/12758851/pele-dies-at-82-busting-the-myths-surrounding-the-brazilian-great
                  Here nugget from this article

Pele played only a handful of what would now be considered competitive matches against European club sides. However, his performances in those matches leave little room for argument. His genius was laid bare against European Cup holders Benfica in the 1962 Intercontinental Cup - the return leg of which Pele claimed was his best-ever game.

Having already scored twice in a 3-2 win at the Maracana, he lit up the Estadio da Luz in Santos' 5-2 second-leg victory, scoring a hat-trick and overshadowing home hero Eusebio. There was even a nutmeg of the Portuguese pretender to hammer home the point as Pele beat a number of opponents to set up another of his side's goals. It was a masterclass.

My grandad who was a coach saw them all and said nobody compared to Pele who also won three (3) world cups and scored over 1000 goals with Santos touring the world including England and Italy multiple times. But there wasn’t much TV coverage back then so his highlights reel is lacking. Still it’s fun to debate the subjective but I’m sticking with Pele 1st Maradona 2nd

All the highlights you see are the hand picked ones. It's like watching YouTube highlights. Unless you lived in his generation I don't think you can make that decision. Me personally Diego is the best ever player in my generation. Followed by Messi . I also to rate Romario a lot higher than most

Different players, different eras and different overall conditions. This discussion is unsolvable. You can make arguments against and for any of them, and depends on which argument is most important from your perspective, you will make your choice. For example in Pele’s case you may say that he scored most goals, but also you may say that his goal count is up for debate. If only goals in official matches are tallied, Pele’s mark was considerably lower no matter the source, standing at fewer than 800 goals. That would leave him behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Romário and Josef Bican, who played before Pele’s time. You may say that he won World Cup three times, but from the other hand he always played with the best team of the tournament. Every team of the tournament was comprised of at least five Brazilian players. In contrary the team of tournament in 1986 World Cup included only one Argentinian player - Maradona. You may underline that in the past players were much less protected by rules and referees. For example in the Pele’s era substitution were not allowed. If player suffered injury he had to play to the end of the match, which often caused aggravation of such injury. However your opponents very often were completely unprepared for and did not know your style of play, they couldn’t find on youtube any footage of your way of play, favorite tricks. Everybody who played Messi or Ronaldo knew exactly what they may expect etc.

Van Basten goes unmentioned all too often. Not saying he's the best (I don't even know how to begin to determine that) but he was an absolute diamond. Shame he was done so early.

Crazy game week, definitely on the verge of giving up.

Brought in and captained Mitro so was always going to get booked but no bonus points is a real kick in the teeth when my rival has Leno who also got booked but got max baps.

Team did quite well, White and Trippier clean sheets, Rashford goal, captain scored and I correctly benched Almiron but still got a huge overall red arrow and lost ground in all my mini leagues.

                Kepa
                Trippier Cucurella White
                KDB Rashford Martinelli Andreas
                Haaland(VC) Kane Mitrovic(C)
                Ward Almiron Patterson Bueno

Will obviously start Almiron next week and will likely bring in Cancelo for his double but is there anything else I can do to stop the rot?

I wouldn't be disappointed with the Mitro transfer & captain, I did the same - at least we got something out of him, and now we have him

I think your team is good, similar to mine. I wouldn't be rushing to get Cancelo in tbh. In your position I'd likely save then eventually swap out Cucu for a better option. That's what I'm planning

If you're not getting net happiness put of playing then one option is to quit. It's hard to do it in between seasons because one always thinks 'this season will be different'. No time like the present. Think of all the things you'd use the time for instead!?

Alternatively, you can continue to play, but change the way you view the game psychologically so that you do get more enjoyment out of it. Remembering It's a low stakes, low reward game with very little real life consequences whether you come dead last or win the whole thing. 2. Own your decisons. Ultimately the buck stops with you, there is no higher force conspiring against you (though it's certainly feels that way sometimes). 3. Judge your decisions based on the process and not the outcome. The decision to bring in Mitro in (and even capo) wasn't a bad one (lots of experienced managers did it), but it carried risk. Sometimes decisions made on solid grounds don't pay off, but it doesn't make them bad decisions. 4. Likewise, most transfers should be evaluated on the basis of 3-4 gameweeks, not one. 5. Recognise what you can control and what you can't: your rival picking Leno isn't something you could have altered.

Turning to your team (bearing in mind the point about buck stopping with you), to me it looks structurally good and theres a decent chance Kepa, Kane and/or KDB could help your arrows. You may need a Paterson replacement, but it's not worth making changes until DGW announcements.

I've been playing now since 11/12 season (coincidentally my best rank - triple figures). A lot of ups and downs and questioning why I bother along the way. (More recently).

Personally, the world cup (Xmas break) has helped massively and although my OR rank is poor (2.8mil) I'm just focusing on green arrows and progression. It has helped me to 'reframe' things. Yes, it's a game but it matters to us and millions more. It's certainly possible to enjoy it more if your outlook is altered.

I got Mitrovic in and captained BUT he scored and the yellow card was always the risk. So it's fine. Owning the decision like pitch perfect said makes it easier to accept than blaming the FPL gods!

Good luck for the rest of the season and remember we're all in this together, good and bad.

                    Hi PP
I agree so much with your comments about playing fpl. My own philosophy is play your own game. Don’t just pick players because everyone else seems to be choosing them. Back your own judgement and above all else enjoy playing. Having a good OR is great but not if it means spending hours and hours each week mulling over transfer decisions. I once found myself making transfers in the middle of the night even because I could not sleep until I did the transfers - not anymore!

For the record I am hovering around 1.5m OR but determined to enjoy whether I drop to 2.5m or go up to 100k by season end - and yes I brought in Mitrovic for the DGW which is now an SGW for him. If only Silva had subbed him around 70 - 75 mins but never mind. Onwards & upwards or even downwards!

Sounds like the right way to play. I set myself a rule "don't make transfers in the dark" for that very reason. My 2am insomnia brain was not good for rational decision making. If I was making transfers at that time, for me it was usually because I'd let potential price rises cloud my judgment.

I quit half way through last season and deleted my team. I was spending too much time crunching stats and making plans and consuming content. I enjoyed all of that at the time, but other things in life were getting stressful for other reasons. Quitting helped me focus on all that, and now I’m back playing again but with a new team with no history and I don’t look at stats and just check out Blackbox now and again. And I have to say, I’m enjoying the game so much more, I don’t care anywhere near as much when things go wrong but still enjoy the things that go right. Different things work for different people but if you’re getting stressed with FPL I can recommend taking a break and then coming back as a casual!

I think its an important point win or lose you gotta enjoy and take the rough with the smooth.

Ofcourse everyone wants a high or but what would be the fun if it was too easy or if there wasn't a rival lucking on to ever baps possible.

End of the day there wouldn't be any significance to a high or if there wasn't millions below you. We are all part of something bigger

                      30. I've lost 15 points on the field because I went Digne over Shaw. He's already caused pain even though he hasn't even started lol.

Can't be too disappointed with Mitro suspension can we? at least he returned. Just got to hope Haaland doesn't go mad.

Would appreciate your early thought on my gw20 team, I'm thinking of saving unless I'm missing someone obvious?

                      Kepa (Ward)
Trip / Cucu / Bueno (Shaw / Patterson)
                      Pereira / Rash / Ode / KDB / Almiron
                      Haaland / Kane (Mitro)

Purely benching Shaw due to the City fixture and playing Bueno (whu) & Cucu (cry), hoping to get by this week

My best advice is to down tools and forget about it until all the cup games are done and we get more information about future doubles.

Let your hair down. Polish your axe maybe. Whittle yourself a good spear or two. Chill breh.

You might want to play Shaw if the double gets added. Things will become clearer after the FA Cup games

Really want Saka as my 2nd Arsenal mid but no reason to sell KDB, Rash, Almiron & Martinelli.

Downgrade Darwin in the coming weeks and upgrade Andreas to Saka?

Not sure though if I should go all the way down to a 4.5m striker or not. I could afford the Andreas to Saka upgrade if I go Wilson also but that would mean a benching headache every week.

Kane is honestly the only one worth having. Maybe at a stretch Kulu.

Have two already but may or may not have to bin Kulusevski. Kane is staying for the long haul so will definitely have him.

Kane is definitely worth considering and maybe even captaining. I also like the idea of owning Son, when pretty much nobody has him. You just know that he'll explode at some point in the second half of the season and go through a purple patch. It could very well start now.

De Bruyne and Salah also aren't at their best right now, so it feels like less of a gamble.

Been planning on Kane for a while and have money itb to move Nunez to him but I'm wary of Spurs right now. Feel like another couple of games without a win might signal the end of Conte's time there, all the wrong words are coming out of his mouth too currently. Perhaps it's a ploy to get Levy to spend this month but it feels a bit different looking at the performances

As a Greenwood owner will be looking at him closely next 2-3 games to see if he gets regular minutes

A striker playing in an attacking De Zerbi side is a great option

Mitoma at 4.9 is a great punt as well given nice run of fixtures for Brighton

Did not see the Arsenal game last night. How did Saka and Odegaard play?

Odegaard had a bad game, Saka was lively but little end product. We didn't play well overall aside from the first 10-15 mins, an off day.

Why? Newcastle is the league's strongest defence with 10 cs

Even city will struggle to score against them given the form they are in

This was the side that City put three goals past in their last meeting:

They weren't at their usual level to be honest. Burn was getting toasted by Saka at the beginning, but they doubled/tripled up on him later. Odegaard's shooting and passing was off. Newcastle were really organised, defended for most of the game and marked the attackers very well. So kudos to them.

Tough season for plenty of us (many worse than that). I've been pinballing around 1.5m - 2m most of the time
Some big jumps (down 800k GW17, up 500k this GW currently) but going nowhere in particular. But its cool, you know - pressure off, don't have to constantly check my rank, just try enjoy it

Also agree with this, it sucks but I've given up on my MLs after leading them a while ago. I've never liked going with the crowd very much so now I can fully indulge myself in going for chaotic and silly choices (and yes that has included Nunez)

It feels that there's a lot less dead teams this year than usual. I'm not having a bad season in terms of points, always around 55-70, but overall rank is always between 500k-800k, which is frustrating. Seems a lot of managers are playing more seriously this year. Also in mini leagues, i'm 10th with only 70pts trailing

Seems most players are playing a similar template with perma captain Haaland, plus Trippier, Almiron, Martinelli, Jesus, Cancelo, Rashford, Mitrovic, etc.

Just too many midpriced players who can't stop scoring, therefore difficult to catch-up if you are not already top of your ML

Let's just take a moment to appreciate how incredibly good has been Shaw+Rashford combo for us brave enough to go with both of them on WC mainly for those first 3 plum fixtures, even though their form was bad pre-break.
1 goal (at minimum) + clean sheet in each of those 3 games. That beautiful streak may have come to an end with City next, but it was good while it lasted.
