Following the results of this weekend’s FA Cup third-round ties, we now have a confirmed Double Gameweek 20 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Four teams will now play twice in the upcoming Gameweek: both Manchester clubs, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.

MAN CITY AND SPURS

Neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Manchester City required a replay to settle their respective cup matches against Portsmouth and Chelsea, so their ‘provisional’ Double Gameweek 20 becomes a confirmed one.

Both sides are involved in local derbies on the weekend of January 14/15 before they meet at the Etihad on January 19.

MAN UTD AND PALACE

The doubles don’t end there.

Manchester United’s progress to round four of the FA Cup and Crystal Palace’s elimination at the hands of Southampton means that neither club will be involved in a third-round replay in the otherwise free midweek after Gameweek 20.

Their outstanding fixture at Selhurst Park has now been rerranged for that slot.

United face their cross-city rivals before heading to south London, while Palace are away at Chelsea before entertaining the Red Devils.

Further reaction will follow later this evening and tomorrow.

No harm in dropping one of the two Arsenal to the bench for a NLD. But there are not many midfielders guaranteed to start both matches and do well in them, bar Rashford who you probably have. Foden, Son, Fernandez all come with a risk.

Probably 2, but only as Man City are less likely to rotate for two tough games.

Man Utd may do given the games either side of Palace.

      My thoughts are this
He has scored 5 points in last 2 games v spurs and Bournemouth I can’t see him scoring more than that in next 2 games v Chelsea and United . The last game he hauled in was against a v poor West Ham team and before that a struggling wolves team

    Don’t over think the dgw
The amount of players that score more in 1 than the dgw players . Think from over fixtures in my opinion . I wouldn’t consider any palace players at the moment also rotation is a huge risk for city players so certainly wouldn’t take any points hits

On form I’m not sure about kdb and I would rather have Mahrez but he is a rotation risk . Personally I’d keep salah and use 2 FT to bring in mahrez or kdb . Salah will absolutely haul
One day soon and nobody in my Ml has him so I’m keeping him

I would definitely sign one of those two for a DGW if it gives you two FT next week, to maybe bring Salah back, although Man City have another DGW just after.

    Ederson
    Schar, Tripps, Shaw
    KDB, Martineli, Saka, Rashford
    Martial, Halland, Darwin
2 Ft, .7 in the Bank

Thinking of KDB to Mahrez and Darwin to Kane.

If Pool doubles in wk21 Darwin back for Kane and Mahrez to Salah for a minus 4.

The two transfers are good. Its hard to think too far beyond for other DGW, plus Man City have another coming anyway. You also have 3 or 4 one YC from suspension in the next 1-2 games.

Who many DGW'ers do you already have for GW20 , and how many players playing twice that GW to you think you will have come the GW deadline ?

If you include Cancelo I'm on 5 (Cancelo, Haaland, Kane, Shaw, Rashford) with 2 FT's I'll probably end up with 6.

Currently 4 but that incudes Cancelo and Martinez who will unlikely play 2, or maybe not start either.

I will sign one but also waiting on the DGW for next round, Arsenal, Brighton and Liverpool have potentially good ones us Palace again

Own KDB, Haaland, Bruno, Shaw and Rashford.

    Don’t own Kane.

Odegaard and Darwin to Kane and Eze

Darwin and Bruno to Kane and foden?

Really not sure what to do. Bruno feels like a differential but concerned he’s barely on a set piece now

    1. Big Mike
      • 3 Years

I would consider selling Bruno as I reckon Shaw and Rashford are enough Utd cover for the double gameweek. So Darwin and Bruno to Kane and Foden would be the best move, although Foden may get rotated.

Has history scoring v City. Two games. In red-hot form (scored in all five games since restart, on the back of a few at World Cup).

So that surely adds up to a yes.

Not that I will, personally. Haaland with two games is a no-contest, for me.

Same. It is definitely ideal TC time this GW or next.

Haaland, Rashford, Kane and probably Salah all have them, in that order of preference.

Oddly if I was not TC Haaland, I would consider Rashford for a regular captain.

    2FT, and can't fit Kane in unless it's for a -4. Frustratingly 0.1 short.

    Moves considering:

    1. James + Mount > Botman + Bruno (exact funds - punt Bruno. I have Shaw/Rash) | 2FT
    2. James + Mount > Schar + Almiron (+3.9m ITB) | 2FT
    3. James + Mount + Darwin > Botman + Almiron + Kane (+1.2 ITB) | -4 HIT

    1. Gubby-Allen
      • 4 Years

I am similar and 0.1 short.

But then Kane is one YC from suspension in a NLD and Liverpool, Arsenal and Brighton may all have good DGWs next week so you could be selling Darwin prior to that.

    Foden giving me a headache.

    A) Foden > Bruno

    B) Mitro > martial

    C) Mount > Bruno

Given that the double is coming for manutd, I’m fairly confident bruno and martial will play both games (which probably means that they now won’t). On the other hand, Foden has a double, but might not play both. What to do what to do.

Think Rashford and Shaw maybe enough cover for Utd's double game week, so I would avoid Bruno and Martial. Foden might be a good punt as he scored in the cup game against Chelsea.

    2. Norco
      • 11 Years

Seriously considering punting on Bruno (I have Rash/Shaw), I'd have to cut my team up to get Kane in for a hit. Thinking Bruno could also be downgraded to Oge/Saka/Almiron/whoever really after the double when needed.

I also think, not many would be opting for Bruno so might be a bit of a differential. Currently only has 3.3% ownership.

Yeah he’s a real differential. However he’s not what he was 2 years ago and may be off pens. I can’t really lose too many pts if any vs Mount/Foden. It’s just that what if I can gain more elsewhere by foregoing Bruno

    Thoughts on transfers this week?

    Kepa
    Trippier / Cancelo / White
    Rashford / Almiron / Martinelli / KDB
    Kane / Haaland / Mitro

Bench: Ward, Andreas, Bueno, Neco Williams

    2FTs 2.1itb

    A. Kepa + Neco Williams —> DDG + Shaw?
    B. Almiron —> Eze

      Neco for Shaw.

Two FT for next week 21 when you will need them more.

I have shaw but i can't have a £7m+ defender who barely plays....

At the moment Shaw is more likely to play 120 mins than Cancelo. Plus Utd have a better double game week fixture, so it makes sense.

"Further reaction will follow later this evening and tomorrow."

Doesn't look like we're getting anything tonight contrary to the above 🙁

There's huge demand for it amongst the members but the suits in the ivory tower say no.

It's a shame, really. They are never going to catch Andy's YouTube views without me. I would transform the format of the show and get some proper FPL debate going.

By doing what? Genuine question. I agree it requires improvement. What would you do?
