Makes the Owen post UCL final comments all the funnier

“We are still the team to beat”.

The media have made Pool’s downfall all the more enjoyable. It’s not the fans fault, I suppose.

That's it then, another 25 years of no titles for Liv , that's the way it goes....hope the fans enjoyed their moment.

Just a decade out of the major silverware for Utd., back to business as usual from here on

Haven't felt like this since the 90s., a good decade.

    Wrong post:

Realise I may be in a pickle come GW25 bit early thoughts on this initial WC guys?

    Sanchez
    Trippier - Shaw - Akanji
    Martinelli - KDB - Rashford - Odegaard
    Nketiah - Haaland - Kane

    1. MJF

Tough that last defender spot given I'd probably want either Botman - but that causes a potential issue in 25 - or Gabriel, which blocks Nketiah.

      1. RICICLE
        • 4 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

Yeah I hear ya. Could always max out on Botman alongside Schar and Trippier, or sacrifice Nketiah to get Gabriel and have around 6.7 For that striker slot

I believe that 3rd striker spot could be the one to change to attack against teams like Bou. Therefore I'd avoid Ars attacking triple up.

          • 4 Years
          3 years, 6 months ago

Thanks BH, yeah not fully sold on the triple attack, I think I do prefer an Arse defender over him
Maybe even Ferguson as BOU have Brighton soon

Doherty, with Raya or Kepa over Steele and Toney over Nketiah. Get Jesus/Mitrovic for GW23, when Toney's fixtures turn again

Also, I'd bench an Arsenal mid vs Casemiro for March vs Ward

I think Almiron will return to your team tomorrow over Martinelli, so that unlocks Gabriel as your 5th def

            Yup! Good luck 🙂

Some might say Bruno in that KDB/Salah based on recent form, but that's up to ya

I've decided to stick with the Haaland - Kane - Salah axis for a while, unless there's nothing to change elsewhere or a clear third premium becomes obvious

Cheers pal, got a long time to tinker around with it anyway.
Bruno is an interesting one i must say.
Salah will never return to my squad though I know that much, something definitely wrong there at Pool.
I think Toney is a great shout for that 3rd striker spot, just all depends on whether I ditch Almiron though to get to him

"Brentford's fixtures turn again". What, that one game against Arsenal? Manu not watertight and a relatively good run otherwise.

There's just a better run of fixtures for Mitro (GWs 23 to 26), but ultimately the returning Jesus (GWs 22 to 32), as well as the looming ban expected to be decided upon around February or March, last I heard

Not bothered about the results, but the performance. That's why I asked if you've watched them defend

They've been getting away with some truly horrible first-half performances, and then resurrecting themselves in the second half

Lots of chances conceded. No control over the game. And not even the expected "park the bus" kind of control

That said, City attack isn't purring right now anyway, so it could be a stoppable force against a moveable object

My first 11 are all from top 5 clubs in the table, and the sub Mitrovic is from 6th place Fulham. Most of them have some value tied up and have good stats.

So the question is, who makes way for Brentford or Brighton assets, if any. Anyone with similar thoughts?

I've only 0.1M in Almiron so can swap for Brighton, for example. But maybe Mitrovic > Toney is more urgent, but have 0.4M price increase in Mitro so would lose 0.2M if I want him back later.

I have doubts if money (tv/sv) has so important role this season as during previous ones. How much money do you have tied with each player and which have "even price rises"?

      1. Sheffield Wednesday
        • 6 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

Ranging from 0.8M down to 0.2M there is
Trippier Martinelli Haaland Mitrović Rashford Ødegaard in that order.

The rest are only 0.1M at most so don't represent significant loss.

Almiron might be among your team's top scorers in the next 3

            • 6 Years

Don't be silly. Haaland has too much value to ever sell. KdB chances are you can buy and sell without loss - and if KdB gets a rest it's usually more likely against 'easy' opposition like Wolves in GW21.

            Since GW16:
            KdB: 2 2 1 3 5
            March: 2 13 1 11 19

        KdB, Rash, Martinelli, Øde, Almiron

Almiron at least is highly owned, so for those of us who are chasing selling Almiron for Solly makes sense. One of those 5 simply has to go. Who else if not Almiron?

    Kepa (ward)
    Triper botman walker (shaw saliba)
    Rash zaha almiron mahrez (martineli)
    Haland toney kane

    Which ?

    A) roll ft, g2g
    B) walker to cancelo/mee/estupinan/dunk/ake
    C) zaha to rodrigo/macalister/mitoma/march

I think Brighton assets eg Mitoma are very tempting.
But equally if the Carabo Cup matches go to form then you need to plan for the GW25 blank where you currently have 6 blanking players so bringing in a 7th might not be a great plan
What about Odegaard based on form and upcoming double?

    Andreas + Mitrovic > March + Toney?

Or focus on DGW players? Only have White + Odegaard for Arsenal, KDB + Haaland for City, Shaw + Rashford for United, no Pool, only Kepa for Chelsea.

    A) Andreas to Mitoma or March
    B) Martial to Toney

If I do A, which one out of Mitoma or March is the smartest option?

    Options:

    a) Gabriel
    b) White
    c) Botman
    d) City defender

Thinking about Arsenal/City double in 23.

I would prefer to leave an Arsenal attacking double up available versus a Toon attacking double up so not a or b with you having Saliba.
City defender leaves you pondering which one. Brilliant if you get it right, good luck with that.
So Botman or if looking for an alternative that doesn't need to start every game, a defender from Villa will definitely have a game in the blank week's 25 & 28 Vs Everton and Bournemouth so maybe Mings or Moreno if he looks like offering assists.

FWIW: March's stats in the last 4 and last 6 now match/beat Mitoma's

Mitoma had an edge before tonight, but March has now pipped him in the comparison tool, with a gap forming in assist potential now

The potential was there with Brighton assets all along but they so often failed to deliver in attack

Perhaps Chelsea are now discovering that the problem was Potter all along. Great at defence and team building but doesn't know where the goal is

If so, de Zerbi is now realising that potential and we can consider even the likes of Solly March

Even if it's a new manager bounce Mitoma is a steal

that ship has sailed. lazy journalism.

arsenal need a wide forward, but actually on the right side as ESR exists. i suspect they will re-ignite their interest in Raphinha or Torres from Barca.

I agree with this, but I didn't see Mudryk as a problem, because ESR is comfortable on the right, and I presume Mudryk would be able to adapt with time to be a right-sided option, particularly given that he is very strong with both feet. There's also Nelson and Marqhinhos as cover there, albeit not the same quality. Plus Vieira, and of course, even Jesus, who had his best games from the right last season.

dont disagree that any of our wide forwards could play on either side. although Arteta like Pep prefers the inverted variety.

There are plenty of great gems out there. Arsenal look at the numbers, not sure what their reach is across Europe or South America but there will be plenty of great players for a fraction of the price.

Last thing Arsenal need is a big money signing shaking up the feel good atmosphere.

also mudryk attitude is suspect, always felt uneasy with a player going vocal on social media talking about wanting to leave.

Just opens the door in a couple of years time of him doing the same if Barca/Madrid or PSG come in for him for example

I dont think worth anything like 100m... its just crazy. Ukrainian league and a handful of groupstage CL games against the likes of Celtic. the time to get him was in summer for 30-40m which is about the right level for him. arsenal got dragged into a bidding war and are right to set a limit - lets not forget the player could've forced a move to arsenal but decided to take more money from chelsea... what a club to go to right now.

        1. Deulofail
          • 10 Years

          There was no bidding war...

there was a bidding war by virtue of chelseas interest. else its wrapped up much earlier.

mudryk was not needed? they wasted almost a month negotiating with shakhtar

The rumours (if any) for vlahovic will be untrue. He chose to go to Juve over Arsenal. Arteta already said he doesn't want players who don't want to play for the club, the ship has sailed and he's regressed significantly

He can get 2 goals against spurs easy - if City turn up.

Citys form as a whole though definitely has dropped off post wc. They're nowhere near as cohesive, and while spurs have had problems defensively, I'm not sure City are best placed to expose them right now. Spurs have done well v City recently too.

I didnt tc Haaland mostly for that reason, just wish I'd been bold enough to cap Rash as he'll no doubt get dub figs again v Palace

      @BigManBakar
The Spurs match in particular this week can work in Haaland's favour as they tend to concede an abnormal number of chances centrally where Haaland is likely to operate:

      Spurs chances conceded this season
