Which Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options will make the weekly Scout Picks for Double Gameweek 22?

That’s what our in-house team of Sam, Az, Tom and Neale are debating in this Scout Squad article.

In this feature, our panelists each put together an 18-man player longlist ahead of the upcoming Gameweek – with various stipulations, as detailed in the next section.

These selections will go a long way toward deciding the final Scout Picks, with the FPL assets receiving the most votes in with a better chance of making the cut.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

Our four resident writers are solely focused on the upcoming Gameweek with their selections. Anything outside of this window, we cover in the Watchlist.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, cheaper alternatives have to be found.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

Can someone please explain the theory that bringing in a premium player could not be worth it if you’re not captaining them?

      Game time nail on
      Premium player for a reason
Fixtures/form - if during DGW then a good choice as would hope one of the games they get points

      Who are you captaining?

Premiums get you less points per million.

Odegaard is currently on about 17 points per million. Haaland is running at a little under 14 per million. But if you captain him, that's 28 per million

With how Arsenal are going to run through the BGWs you need triple up.

You definitely want 8 from them for the 2 weeks. Arsenal don't blank in 25 and have nice fixtures after City so probably a must. United have the juiciest double so far, but blank in 25 so challenge of shedding enough to field 11. City aren't exactly rock solid defensively and it's called Pep Roulette for a reason.

All 3, so 9 players in my team.

Question is which personnel - more specifically, which defenders? Can't have 9 attackers from 3 teams. I am choosing double United defense and 7 attackers.

Considering taking 3 hits (-12) over the next 2 Gameweeks, refuse to sell KDB before double.

    A.)
GW22: Kane, Almiron, Mitro > Nketiah, Fernandes*, Gnoto* (-8)
    GW23: Andreas, Martinelli > Mahrez*, Saka* (-4)

    B.)
    GW22: Kane, Andreas > Nketiah, Fernandes (-4) & start Almiron v Whu
    GW23: Almiron, Martinelli > Mahrez, Odegaard (-4)

In short, is Saka worth an additional -4 over Odegaard long term. This extra -4 would be mean starting Gnoto (Nfo, Mun) instead of Almiron (Whu) in GW22 which could offset some of the cost immediately.

Option A leaves me with ideal front 7 comes GW23: KDB Mahrez Saka Fernandes Rashford Nkeitah Haaland with plans to get Kane back at a later date.

    Complicated to say the least!

But seriously, -12 to lose Kane and make sideways moved for Arsenal assets is the kind of moves that could easily backfire, and likely won't pay off hugely

      2. Hanz0
        • 3 Years
        3 years, 5 months ago

Agreed, I do want to have 3 United, City & Arsenal for each of their doubles, and they are good options long term. Minimum cost over the 2 weeks is a -8

        1. Biggsy
          • Fantasy Football Scout Member
          • 11 Years

Start by saving yourself-4 and not doing the sideways Martinelli move

          1. Hanz0
            • 3 Years
            3 years, 5 months ago

Does Saka get 4 or more points than Martinelli over 2 games? Only 1 extra goal right, not to mention potential bonus

        2. Hanz0
          • 3 Years
          3 years, 5 months ago

Prefer losing Kane to KDB, and forsee Saka being best Arsenal option going forward. If it is a move I have to make I might as well do it in the DGW as opposed to after? Admit its not ideal

            • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Sounds like you're pretty set on it. So go for it. I would say I hope it works for you, but I'm dumping KDB for Bruno (not hits) and holding Martinelli so I hope it doesn't 😉

              • 3 Years
              3 years, 5 months ago

Not set on the Martinelli upgrade, but I am against selling KDB before his double. Think he could even do well vs Spurs, completely understand why people are selling him though. Best of luck!

    Current squad is:
    Kepa (Ward)
    Trippier, Shaw, White (Botman, Bueno)
    Rashford, Martinelli, KDB, March (Almiron)
    Haaland, Toney, Kane

Currently thinking of WC to give me...

    Kepa (Ward)
    Trippier, Shaw, Gabriel (Schar, Ake)
    Rashford, Odegaard, Mahrez, Mitoma, Bruno
    Haaland, Nketiah (Kane)

BB in GW23. I'll then work towards losing Mitoma and Schar before the GW26 blank so I still have 11 players available.

Have I made enough changes to justify WC?

Kinda down to the below, which one sounds best?

    1. (Keeping KDB and Martinelli, no Bruno)

    GW22: Almiron to Casemiro
GW23: Casemiro Toney to Mahrez Nketiah -4

    2. (Keeping Martinelli)

GW22: KDB Almiron to Mahrez Bruno -4
    GW23: Toney to Nketiah

    3. (KDB and Martinelli out)

GW22: KDB Almiron to Ode Bruno -4
GW23: Martinelli Toney to Mahrez Nketiah -4

I think Odegaard is essential for the double, and to do that Martinelli has to go, so option 3.

He may also lose minutes to Trossard, so to me this is the obvious move.

What would you guys do here with 2 FT and 0.4 itb? I have 3 UTD (no Bruno) and only Martinelli from Arsenal so it’s a bit of a mess

    DDG

    Trippier Shaw Akanji
