Ahead of this week’s Scout Picks selection, our in-house team of Sam, Marc, Tom and Neale debate the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players they think should make the cut.

Our panelists submit 18-man player longlists with the focus just on the upcoming Gameweek – and with various stipulations, as detailed in the next section.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

Our four resident writers are solely focused on the upcoming Gameweek with their selections. Anything outside of this window, we cover in the regularly updated Watchlist.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, cheaper alternatives have to be found.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

    FH...

    STEELE
    Taa, VVD, Shaw, Dunk
    kdb, Salah, Rashford, GREALISH, Mitoma
    Haaland (c)

    or

    EDERSON
    Taa, Shaw, Dunk
    kdb, Salah, Rashford, MARCH, Mitoma
    Haaland (c) JOTA

    basically..
    A) Steele, VVD, Grealish
    B) Ederson, March, Jota

        Thanks.

the problem is that Steele is cheap AF, so makes it hard not to pick him.

        Stupid Sexy Steele

Thanks. Ederson being the only nailed Man City player kinda makes him desirable... but then steele is cheap. Like the budgie.

Have been set on my Free Hit for a few days but now genuinely concerned that KdB wont play much this GW. Why risk him when the league is almost won, and he has a knock, with Champions league (x3?) and FA Cup to come? Anyone know more?

That's why most on FH will wait until the presser before making a decision.

problem is.. if he rises tonight, then you might not afford your team. I'm waiting on him.

Not a problem on free hit (or WC) but i guess it is tougher for the regular transfers

It is a problem on FH if he goes up in price and you suddenly can't afford your team by 0.1

Or are prices locked for people doing FH or something?

No, you get him in now (to secure the price), then sell him tomorrow if you have doubts. No cost.

Yeah that's what I mean, but it means your team has 12.8 or whatever stuck there. I just switched to all the risers and I'll worry about the decision tomorrow or after some presser news hopefully

But if you get them and they rise, but your other options dont, then you can simply change your mind the next day and wont cost you anything

When on free hit or WC i often go for those i think will rise (in case i decide to pick them), if those i genuinely want are not going to rise. I can always revert back if i change my mind.

                Here's a problem I have with that...

Stones, Ederson, Grealish, KDB, Haaland all look to be rising. Who you gonna pick? 😉

Only pick those you want, ha. My explanation did not consider the fact that you want 4 from Man City. If only 3 from a team then there is no risk

What would you recommend? 2 FTs

    Raya
    Trippier Shaw Estupiñán
    Fernandes Rashford Grealish Mitoma March
    Kane Haaland
    Kepa // Watkins Schar Chilwell

    A) Bruno/Kane > Salah/Jota
    B) Bruno/Kane > Salah/Isak
    C) Bruno/Kane/Chilwell > Salah/Isak/TAA (-4)
    D) Grealish/Kane > Salah/Isak (exact ITB)
    E) Bruno/Kane/Chilwell > Salah/Jota/Dias (-4)
    F) Other?

C is only way to get TAA. But who would I bench?! Estupiñán not been fab lately. Schar on bench could haul!

    1. SalahFingers
      • 8 Years

Definitely not D.... Isak is good, but doesn't have a double. Grealish has a double and is one of the top mid choices (esp if KDB is out).

I like the look of A or maybe E. You can do Jota -> Isak the week after

Thank you for the feedback. Appreciated. A does feel the cleanest right? Just mins a concern when we all know Kane will score, ha.

No Trent could be a concern. A concern worth having?

Can stomach Chilwell for 35/36 if need be as better fixtures, but God we are crap!

I know Isak is the fresh new thing, but remember he also got 1 point today and his minutes are all over the place. I would only make transfers for a double player this week. Others can wait.

It's a good point. And it's silly as I'd probably end up benching Trippier or Isak then.

I should really take note of the fact LIV have no CSs in last 7 and hope lol. At least the non-hit will offset any haul a tiny bit.

I'll have an option for GW36 whether I sell Jota or Isak. Jota has LEI that week so an iffy sell. Meanwhile Watkins has TOT. Oh dear!

            Thank you.

    A) Chilwell to a defender 7.3m or less (Stones maybe?) and play Isak
    B) Watkins to a Forward 9m or less (Likely Jota) and play Trips

    Team is currently

    DDG
    Trips Estu Shaw
    Rash March Grealish Salah Mac10
    Isak Haaland

    Bench:
    Raya - Watkins - Henry - Chilwell

I wouldn’t pick her in your starting 11, but she would qualify as bench fodder. Very cheap. Unlikely to play.

    Best option for the dgw?

    A. Estu/ Dunk
    B. Dalot
    C. Akanji
    D. Someone else

      C

    2. SalahFingers

      D. Haaland

But seriously.. I think Dunk/Estu are best of those.

Dalot and Akanji are likely to get rotated.

I do think Man City have a decent chance at 2 clean sheets though so Akanji should be good IF he plays both.

I wish there was a holding position where you can sell the dead wood (Chilwell for instance). Maybe it could be a derivative held by a registered legal firm. Then buy the replacement the next day. Just a thought, ha.

If you already have Toney just play him. He'll bag a couple against forest

Ive not seen much TC chat here.

For anyone who has TC left are you putting it on Haaland this week?

Reckon most have spunked it long since (in my case for little return!). Reckon its now or never. I would normally be concerned for Haaland minutes but the fact that he played the full 90 in a dead rubber second half v Arsenal means he is gonna play through it. I remember Rooney in his prime (i have a very good memory) played better the more he played. Similarly Owen. Good luck pal!

Same...his GW35-38 are too tasty and he always scores more towards the end of the season.

Ew, just lost 0.2m on not selling Bruno/buying Jota just yet. Jota didn't look like a tonight riser.

Been leaving transfer late and doesn't affect affordability of moves. Not rushing worked fine so far. Just annoying!

    Best option here?

    A) Saka & Kane -> SALAH & Isak
    B) Saka, BRUNO & Kane -> SALAH, GREALISH/MAHREZ & JOTA (-4)
    C) Saka, Watkins & Kane -> SALAH, JOTA & Solanke (-4)

    Raya
    SHAW, ESTUPINAN, Trippier
    RASHFORD, BRUNO*, MITOMA, MARCH, Saka*
    HAALAND, Kane*

    Kepa, AKE, Watkins*, Mee

    Exact money to do:

    Bruno + Burn > Rashford + Robertson (-4)

    Seems like a decent move?

The angle here shows the deflection that significantly alters the intended destination of the ball. Isak wasn't aiming originally for Murphy or the back post, he was pulling it back for Wilson. No assist by the rules, not too debatable tbh (though did deserve something for the quality of the run!)

        Whatever they say: shyte.

What about Georgie Best dribbling round five players, then on the way it gets a slight nick before Debis Law slots it in? No assist?

They'd like to delete those great players of course, anyway. Never played in the 'Premier League'

TC will have 8 dgw players and Haaland/Salah for TC.

Have to take a -4 hit as well for this team.

FH doesn't really have too much power after this GW but maybe the same for TC.
FH should easily outscore the TC team.

Same sentiments. The other choice would be FH37 but those fixtures aren't that good imo.

Most likely playing FH this week and TC someone in 34 or 37.

                Thanks!

Obv depends on your team. In isolation, I would TC Haaland this week as opposed to 37 cut to CL then etc and arguably better fixtures in 34.

Strugging this week as I've been priced out of my initial plan, now 0.1 short... current options are:

    1. Kane Odegaard Ake >> Greenwood KDB TAA (-4)
    2. Kane Odegaard Shaw >> Greenwood Salah TAA (-4)
    3. Kane Odegaard Ake Watkins >> Greenwood Salah TAA Isak (-8)

Which one, or any other ideas?

In free fall at the moment, need to get the marginal decisions right..which one would you start this gw-

    A Watkins
    B Burn
    C Henry
D Watkins to Jota -4, and start Jota
E Watkins to Isak -4 and start Isak

I had planned to remove Kane to facilitate getting Salah & TAA. But thinking Ill keep Kane now and not getting TAA.

Looking at these moves for a -4

Watkins, Saka, Chilwell => Greenwood, Salah, Stones

    To give:

    Steele
    Stones Shaw Trippier
    Salah Rash Mac Mitoma Grealish
    Haaland Kane

    Raya Botman Pinnock Greenwood

    1.2m itb

    What do you reckon?

    Anything worth a hit here?
    1. Watkins-> Alvarez/Isak OR
    2. Chilwell-> Robbo (exact cash).
    3. 1 + 2 except for TAA instead of Robbo (-8).

    Ederson.
    Trippier, Estupinan, Shaw.
Rashford, March, Mac Allister, Fernandes, Salah
    Watkins, Haaland.
    Kepa, Schar, Chilwell, Greenwood.
