You'd think Isak and Wilson and even Jesus merited a place on that long list of forwards.

As well as Jackson and Pedro, Ferguson etc.

What are your thoughts on the NEW-AVL GW1 match? Boring draw or goals galore?

Personally, I believe both teams will go for it and it could be a goal fest similar to their preseason match. I think Villa attackers like Watkins and Diaby could be an interesting choice. And after that they have two very nice fixtures as well.

Villa played through the Newcastle high press worryingly well at Villa Park and in the friendly the other day. Newcastle did play an experimental formation in the friendly though. The game at SJP last season, before Emery properly took over, was an easy game for Newcastle where they won the ball high up the pitch and overwhelmed Villa.

I think there will be goals in it for both teams.

Absolutely, me too thinks it’s going to be a smashing game. It makes me want to pick up Diaby or Watkins despite the red colour in FDR!

Goals for both teams I reckon. Villa definitely have the feel of a side that is on a upward curve and Emery having Watkins stay central and not waste energy running the flanks makes me want to pick him and avoid Botman until Newcastle's fixtures take a upturn.

Nailed it. Emery has surely transformed their thinking and Villa is playing like a proper unit now.

Questions to be answered before deadline
Community Shield will be the crucial factor

    Gabriel or Saliba (currently Saliba)
    Mitoma or Mbeumo (currently Mitoma/fixtures)
Is Onana worth the extra 0.5 over Pickfod/Steele/Johnstone (currently Yes)
Is Foden worth the extra 1.0 over Mitoma or Mbeumo (currently Yes)

    Of a way lesser importance

Areola and Matt Turner going to be their teams #1?
    Trusty or Baldock?
Pick a Luton 4.0 def over Beyer?

    1. Thanos
      • 5 Years
      3 years, 1 month ago

      Gab
      Mitoma
Yes, MU should do well + fixtures
Yes, if he starts CS or early leaks suggest he is starting. But Pep Roulette will remain.

For the rest, let preseason matches finish and then assess from there on.

£40m for a backup is crazy... hes also not going there as England U21 to sit on the bench and play in the league cup...
Has to be something there imho, trippier carrying an ongoing injury, or potentially looking for a way to play a 343 perhaps also

Potentially him or Trippier could move to left back. Newcastle trialed 3-4-2-1 against Villa in preseason with Trippier in the back 3. It will be probably be a plan B, but Livra could play wingback. Alternatively, Livra could end up further forward on the right eventually.

I'd imagine there will be a Gordon-esque bedding in period for him, given injuries and getting used to how Newcastle play.

Sounds like a good negotiating tactic. Who knows, Arsenal may be prepared to pay £40 million but imagine if Brentford settled for £30m, then Arsenal would be in a much better position than if they opened their bid with £30m and ended up paying far more than that.

Its very tough to say which two of Diaz/Jota/Gakpo/Nunez will start the season, my guess is Gakpo and Diaz will start vs Chelsea but if then Jota and Nunez start vs Bou I wouldn't be surprised at all, so for now I think its a wait and see on them, Salah is the safe set and forget option but obviously very expensive.

Diaz I suppose could be the one of the four to punt on, he looked very good vs Bayern.
Also with 5 subs he will come on even if he doesnt start so if ur ok with the 1 point cameos worth a go

    Evening everyone.
Looking at those opening 2 months fixtures I’m shocked to not seeing much for Sonny Boy in our drafts. Bar the United and Arsenal games gw1-12 look great fixtures for Spurs under an attacking manager as Ange. I love the fact that Son himself wants to show the world that those previous 5-6 years in the PL weren’t a fluke but down to hard graft (and great talent).

Good to hear another FPL manager is considering him - cheers Toerag. I’m also eyeing up Porro - I think Sunday’s preseason game for Spurs will be worth a watching.

they are going to have to score a ton because that defence is absolutely shocking

        - true Bemba Da! Two new CB’s would be a good start.

In for one defender I see although i'd imagine it will take some time to for players to gel. For now, an attack from the offset and score more than the opposition is probably best bet

            - agreed and they’ll certainly do that under Ange!

Thoughts on this team? Bit weak in defence I know (too much so?) but really like the midfield and forward line

    Onana
    Gabriel, Colwill, Baldock (Beyer, Bell)
    Salah, Saka, Martinelli, Bruno, Mitoma
    Haaland, Jackson (4.5)

You just need to downgrade Bruno or Martinelli to fix def...Eze or Mbuneo are decent picks

    Thoughts on this?

    Onana
    Trent, Chilwell, Estu
    Saka, Martinelli, Bruno, Mbeumo, Almiron
    Darwin, Haaland

    Bentley, Tark, Baldock, Mubama

Not keen on Darwin and Almirón myself. Mitoma, Eze, Diaby, all better options than the latter imo.

Darwin could be Jackson and Bruno could be Rashford for me.

Currently on the following. Thoughts appreciated:

    Onana
    Gabriel, Estupiñán, Pinnock
    Salah, Rashford, Martinelli, Eze
    Haaland, Watkins, João Pedro

    Pau, Baldock, Anderson

You have your answer then 🙂
(Watkins is to expensive imo and Pedro is not 100% nailed...they have 6 great attacking players to rotate)

With your suggestion I'd have both 🙂 And that would allow me to have Chilwell instead of Pinnock/Pau.

We barely got any Spurs insight from frendlies, that's a shame. Son at 9.0 was (still is?) there to be taken
