GoalScorer Challenge

Fantasy Football Scout have once again teamed up with the popular GoalScorer Challenge competition this season.

We will be giving away a Premium Membership to the best manager every month to go with the game’s £500 top prize for the campaign’s overall winner.

If you have not played before, GoalScorer Challenge is a very simple and free game. Every week you pick one player from the Premier League who you think is most likely to score. The more goals that player racks up, the more points you get. But pick wisely, as you can only select each player once per season.

There are three types of Gameweeks:

  • Premier League – Most weekends there will be a full round of league fixtures which will all be included. There are no Double Gameweeks in this game but midweek games are generally included in a separate Gameweek.
  • International – During international breaks, you still have to pick a Premier League player, but for their country. This season includes six international weeks.
  • Cup – On FA Cup weekends, you are again limited to players playing for Premier League teams. The EFL Cup final will also be included as it will take place alongside a regular round of Premier League matches.

GSC is free to play and it only takes a minute to enter each week. You can create mini-leagues and play against your mates, too.

Full details, rules and entry can be FOUND HERE.

Main risk is benching the wrong players and fielding some one pointers

If you hit the ground runking it's nice, but your structure with prices can give you a little bit of a puzzle, the players in themselves looks good, but some gamblings, so you could end up wanting five out after gw1..

He’s selected by 23.8% of the teams but people using the money to have more 8.5 mil mids and 5 mil defs if that makes sense .
I’ve got him in my team so could be a nice diff in gwk2 as captain

You can have a very strong team with Salah and even stronger without.
Pricing is very generous this season, Salah becomes just another player you can pick (yes expensive but dosent require any sacrifices).
Personally I will go KDB route once he's back in shape, but good luck to the Salah owners.

It’s balanced the question is do you want 2 arsenal mids and willing to take the risk with foden so many choices in the mids this season.
Personally I’m just going Saka and either Gab or Sal in def from arsenal

Good point first i wat with Jesus but then a start to think again.

          Saka seems like a must.
In my team plus Gabriel, I'm really tempted to punt on Trossard amid Jesus's injury. If it doesn't work.its an easy swap to either Diaby or Eze.

Havertz and Trossard may bite into Martinelli's and Ode's game time.

Seems like lots had Jesus as their 2nd striker along certain Norwegian.
Looks like Jesus's injury if forcing people to think outside the box and will be the force behind more diversity between fpl teams.
Once again Jesus sacrificed himself for our benefit.

He's brought in by mist because of his output in the attacking area, combination of team, player, Chilwell probably the one that is closest in terms of that, but Chelsea more unknown that Brighton at this stage. I can see Estu being shipped once the fixture turn in gw 4.

Game last night was hugely significant in the way we will see football played at least for the first few weeks of the season (and as long as the referees and higher powers hold their nerve)

Even more value in those players who play 90 minutes but also a player coming on as sub will get more time (30-40 minutes in some cases) so all is not lost when a player is on the bench

Also likes of Bruno, richarlison and other constant moaners will be topping up those yellows it seems with their behaviour rightly punished

That's right, one could get 60 minutes even if only coming on at HT.

That surely will impact clean sheet prospects of team who like to play for 1-0 scorelines. That makes likes of affordable 4.0/4.5s from say Everton, Burnley, Brentford, Wolves, West Ham, etc. much less appealing.

Similarly, attacking players who play complete games like Salah, Bruno, Son, Saka, Watkins, etc. much more interesting.

More minutes played gives 90 minutes man's players even mire time and if you have a rotation player, it gives you extra minutes if he's coming in, that's a plus for both types of scenarios. More minutes will probably affect CS, but got no accounts for ut, but you would assume 3-4 more minutes with effectively action will give consequences. More nervous Fpl players holding their beer (or other non alcoholic beverages) is a certain with injury time going above 100 minutes..

Not sure I fully agree on Bruno given he's captain now, I'm sure he will still get cards but given he'll be the one referees will want to speak to regarding issues/ fouls there might not be a big change for him

Agreed. I'm looking at my Bruno pick since watching the game last night for same reason. He is a double yellow waiting to happen if the refs all follow last night's example

Does anyone know what's happening with Balogun? Is he on his way to West Ham?

      Don't think anything is close

There is nothing new on this topic. Inter Milan and AC Milan were interested, but you know how it is with Italian clubs. They think they can get him pizza quattro formaggi and espresso.

West Ham are acting weird; they don't have a clear plan or targets and will probably waste that hard-earned money like Spurs did after Bale's sale. But if they are prepared to pay more than £40 million, Arsenal may let him go.

Could he go out on loan?

Balogun thinks he's already too good to go on loan. He's slightly arrogant for his age, but sometimes this can be good in football and for his career. Being confident is good; being cocky is not.

This is why some Arsenal fans would rather see Nketiah stay, because they're players with similar ceilings, but one of them clearly loves the club more and is okay with fighting for a starting place and more or less being the second option.

Flo is very ambitious, but he's not ready to be the first striker at the club yet. And Arteta probably told him that. I support any kind of respectable offer with a buy-back or huge sell-on clause.

    I think i got it:

    Pickford/Areola
    Trent, Estu, Gabriel, Porro
    Salah, Saka, Mbuemo, Mitoma
    Haaland, Darwin

Not sure about Salah and Trent but it works. Like the Porro pick.

Any sign of this much-vaunted Kane move? No? 😕

Bit of Italian gossip that Spurs have interest in a striker at Porto

From Kane to Taremi. What an incredible downgrade.

Nakamba but don't expect any more than 2 pointers from him, I'm tempted to take a punt on Chukwuemeka.

I've thought about Chukky too but his minutes may be affected in the long term if Chelsea buy another attacking midfielder.

    Last pieces of the puzzle...

    A) March + Wissa + 0.5m

    Or

    B) Mbuemo + Alvarez

    ???

Swapped out Estu & Watkins for Chilwell & Jackson. No doubt this forum will call it mad. But sometimes it’s about going against the grain.

While Chilwell is a great pick even against Pool, I think Estu is close to must have especially for the first three. Starting with Luton who are not a great scoring team, I can see a 3-0 or 4-0 drubbing with Estu getting a CS and likely an assist.

Also, prefer Watkins to Jackson. Assured starter for 90 mins, on pens (though abysmal at those) and plays for an attacking unit. IMO game against Newcastle should have goals for both teams.

How many times have we seen the newly promoted side upset the odds though? Luton will be right up for it.

    Mental ??

    Onana

    Chilwell/Estu/Gabriel

    Saka/Diaby/Rash/Eze/Son

    Pedro/Haaland

    (Wissa/Pau/Baldock) 2m itb

Plan to rotate between 352 and 343 according to fixtures and il want Pau soon I feel..

Not totally mental, no - although I'd go for Bruno instead of Son and upgrade Pedro.

    Onana
    Colwill Estupinan Gabriel
    Saka rashford martinelli SALAH mitoma
    Haaland jpedro

    Areola baldock Beyer Mubama

Crap bench but I got salah for captain GW2

Martinelli's minutes may suffer this season as he rotates with Trossard, so I'd go for Bruno instead if you can afford him.

Feel like i've managed to make a Salah draft without much sacrifices elsewhere. Any thoughts?

    Onana
    Chilwell, Estupinan, Andersen
    Salah, Saka, Martinelli, Eze, Mbeumo
    Haaland, Jackson

    Areola, Tarkowski, Bell, Mubamba

    2x Ars attackers in place
2x 6.5 mids would be there even in No Salah draft
Obvs no UTD attackers is issue but basically it comes to Salah vs Rashford

Same. If it transpires he’s first choice and pretty nailed, great. But I fear most of their attackers will be rotated

Morning all, finally dipping back into FF ahead of the new season.

Planning to spend some time this weekend taking a look over the FFS articles and useful advice.

Here's where the team is after a cursory glance at the app:

    Pope / Areola
    Stones / Shaw / Estu / James / Bell
    Rashford / Saka / Mitoma / Eze / Rice
    Haaland / Nunez / Isak

Initial thoughts were that it felt quite balanced and fairly decent coverage of teams you'd expect to do well. But I suppose there are possibly question marks over Nunez and Isak?

    Thoughts appreciated

Chilwell going better in pre-season than James, more fit
      Rice..?
      Other question marks correctly placed

0.5 over budget. Which downgrade is better?

    a) Wilson > Isak/Nkunku

    b) Trossard > Mitoma
